A little bit late this week thanks to the live broadcast and a week of planning for the future, The first result of that planning is at the end of this video as one of you Patrons got a mention. Also we have started to collect 'Out of the Foxholes' questions on the forum. And we are about to take some serious steps to improve our maps and animation among many things to come in the next months - all thanks to your support. With love from the TimeGhost team.

Its so refreshing to see some Asian Theatre footage at this stage of the war, an area glossed over by all the other docs with Rape of Nanking footage alone to see. thanks for covering so many corners of the globe, Indy!

Wait until Indy is locked for weeks under the Maginot Line!

Spartacus at 8:28 Indy announces activity in South Guangxi many people are not familiar with Chinese geography and a map insert would really help.

TimeGhostHistory

You're absolutely right! I will make sure that we always have the map for such segments going forward.

This is great, it will help me a lot with forming a better picture of where everything happens when I can see events placed on a map. :)

Hi Indy. I think the picture is mis-captioned at 6:18. Given the other bombs being dropped with it, that cyclinder bomb is probably a British 4000lb high capacity "Blockbuster" bomb. Actually the wiki article on the blockbuster bomb has that picture and says it is take during a raid on Duisburg on 15 October 1944. That said, the blockbuster had its roots in the German use of aerial "parachute" mines which were dropped on British cities during the Blitz in 1940-41. Originally, the British also use Aerial Mines when they kicked off their own city bombing campaign in late 1941, but then developed the 4000lb blockbuster bomb specifically for the purpose. It was not a magnetic mine however. Maybe a little annotation with a note of correction is warranted?

Here for the wiki article that has the same picture: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockbuster_bomb" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockbuster_bomb</a>

Here is a picture of a British Aerial mine, which does look very similar now that I see it: <a href="https://tailendcharlietedchurch.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/airsownmine.jpg" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://tailendcharlietedchurch.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/airsownmine.jpg</a>

This series is making me realise just how much I don't know about WW2, especially about the fighting between the Chinese and Japanese. Please keep up the great work!

TimeGhostHistory

Scott, as we're re-uploading the video due the labelling error between buster bombs and seabed mines we will also include a map at said segment - thank you for great feedback!

Glad to be of help. I think it was a good idea to reupload the episode with a fix; as small of an error as it was, I've always found things like that in any WWII media seems to have a disproportionate effect on colouring the quality of the episode as a whole. God forbid you mistakenly mis-identify a picture of German tank, half the comments posted will be people correcting you rather then talking about the actual contents of the episode!

Also, while I am by no means an expert, reading up on Bomber Command in WWII has been one of my bigger passions the last few years; so if you ever want some assistance with double checking photos for you or for episode research, I can lend a hand with that (complete with citations, page references etc - I have a pretty decent library). I've found the RAF bombing campaign is much like WW1 where it is sterotyped as being nothing but burning down cities (like how WW1 is nothing but trenches and mud). What amazed me was that Bomber Command put more bombs on Oil then the US 8th Air Force, and did so more accurately even though bombing at night, the technology they had was so advanced by that point.
