Hello, my Astonishing Patrons! After a longer break than I wanted to take, I'm finally back to updating Crushing Krisis. As promised back in October, I've picked up exactly where I left off - with an unfashionably late spooky guide to support a new entry in the MCU.

The new Werewolf guide is in my "every issue summarized" format, which will help you navigate more than thirty years of Jack Russell appearances after the cancellation of his original 1972 run.

All three of the existing guides are now updated through the most-current solicited collected editions, but all three updates involved more than just new collection links.

Ant-Man now has the past few years of mini-series and a clarified table of contents. X-Factor was a complete word-by-word rebuild, including a new Omnibus section and a "Where to Start" guide. Cable wasn't as much of a rebuild, but his pre-history is now much clearer, I cleaned up the reading order of his 1993 series, and I added an explanation of his continuity from 2018 to present.

(I'm also considering trying out a new kind of follow-up post after I update an X-Guide, which I think some of my more old-school readers/Patrons might dig. More on that soon, if it makes any sense when I draft one for X-Factor 😉 )

Behind-the-Scenes Krisis

I truly cannot thank you enough for sticking around through the end of 2022 while I was unable to focus on guide-making and guide-updating.

Getting back to regularly growing and revising Crushing Krisis in 2022 for more than 100 days in a row was one of the biggest joys of the past few years for me. I hated having that interrupted by unexpected events in my personal life. Some of the weeks in there were the worst of my life. I'm happy to be past them.

To make matters worse, due to some equally unexpected events in my professional life, my work contract was cut by 80% in November. Your support is literally the reason Crushing Krisis has been able to exist on the internet for the past few months, just as it was back in 2017 when I first moved to New Zealand!

Luckily, it seems like the worst of both personal and professional developments are behind me for the moment. I'm excited to get back to a healthy balance of work and life that includes regular, sustainable work on CK like I was doing in 2022 before all of these interruptions.

I still owe you an Emma Frost Patron's Choice guide, which I'm steadily working through. Before that is complete, you'll be seeing a guide for a much newer Marvel character that I'm currently putting the finishing touches on.

I'd ask what guides people want to see updated the most, but I already know the answer! It's the Claremont Era Uncanny X-Men Guide and the Fatal Attractions Era of the reading order. And, for new guides, I know there are many requests for both GI Joe and Superman guides. Slowly but sure, I'm getting there.
