As Napoleon and the Grande Armée enjoyed a pleasant interlude in occupied Berlin, the war was escalating in unprecedented ways. Sailors, smugglers, and corsairs all over the world were engaged in a new style of total economic warfare.

thank you for your great work. the podcast is very well done. I keep thinking about comparisons between the French revolution and the Iranian Revolution. Clearly there are differences, one radial republican and one radical theocracy. But both have similarities, such as tribunal overreach and its leaders being devoured by the revolution they started. Invasion by neighbors and desperate "Levee on mass". Just as the French revolution reverberates even today, so do the effects of the 1970's Iranian revolution. perhaps this is too big a question, but Id enjoy hearing your response.

I don't feel like I know enough about the history of the Iranian Revolution to really make an informed comment about this, but I've had the same thought. Someone once told me that the Iranian revolutionaries themselves made this comparison, which I find very interesting.
