Oh my, what is this. A Comfortable Base in the Steep Mountains!

Thanks to the use of trees growing on the slope, it became a huge base. When the large double doors open, there is a wide staircase in front that can be used by four people side by side, and surprisingly spacious rooms are spread out on both sides.

Well, the rooms get smaller as you go up the stairs because of the pyramid-like shape.

"Your Majesty. This is a hall where presumably fifty people each can rest, for a total of about a hundred people. The higher up you go, the smaller it gets, but I think a total of about three hundred people can rest in this structure. If it is not too much trouble, Your Majesty can rest in the private room on the top floor."

I call out to His Majesty, who blinks his eyes as he looks up the long staircase. Then he looked at me with an indescribable expression.

"...Can you build a completed base anywhere in this little time? No, that was the wrong way to put it. I understand that you can build it on a mountain slope or in a forest, but can you build it on a cliff or on a river?"

"I think it depends on the materials and the shape of the land. For example, if it is a cliff, it would have to be built into the wall, so I would want to have at least a good starting position. If it is a river, it should not be too deep. If it is too deep, it will be difficult to build something unless it is made out of stone."

When I answered, His Majesty folded his arms and groaned with a serious face.

"... Other than that, you mean you can build a base anywhere? This is outrageous..."

His Majesty muttered something in a low voice. Panamera pulled my hand, moving me to hide behind her.

While we move stealthily toward the hall, Panamera draws closer to my face.

"Boy...you're a genius, no doubt, but you've done something stupid this time. Why would you perform such magic in front of His Majesty, who intends to expand his territory in the future? It would be a great advantage if we could build a fortress at the throat of a hostile country. Not only that, with the boy, we can use the means of building a fortress in various situations. This is a move that His Majesty would want to have at his fingertips."

Panamera, who was a kind, but strong-willed woman, complained about my base-building.

"It's okay. If they think I'm that useful, they won't do anything that I disapprove of, right?"

Implicitly, I told Panamera that he would be in trouble if I were to betray him and be attached to an enemy country. If he wants to expand his territory, he will be in great trouble if I, who can build a base in a short period of time, become his enemy. Even if I couldn't meet His Majesty's request, he would not be hostile to me, so I would have some leeway.

Unlike Panamera, who wants to rise to the top, I have acted in a way that was not in line with His Majesty's expectations, and I have no desire to rise to the top. What I do want is to live a peaceful and interesting life, although I doubt that Panamera will understand me because we have different ways of thinking.

I looked up at her, but she just laughed and shrugged her shoulders.

"...I see. So you are going to show your own strength so that you can get your opinion across. But that's a very brave choice, isn't it? His Majesty is a wise man, so I think that approach will work, but if you negotiate like that with an inferior royalty, they will consider you a traitor just by saying the wrong phrase. Do you understand?"

Panamera told me so, and I immediately make a puzzled look on my face. This would be a lesson from Panamera. I could sense something in her expression and the nuance of her words.

Apparently, I had gotten a little carried away. To be honest, I think it is possible to escape and defect by simply throwing arrows at them with a ballista, but I must not waste Panamera's kindness.

"...I understand. I'll be careful."

I answered and bowed my head.

Then, His Majesty walks up to me with a hint of a smile on his face.

"...Are you done talking?"

"Did you hear that, by any chance?"

I smiled back while tilting my head. In response, His Majesty shook his shoulders and chuckled.

"Well, I guess...let's just say I didn't hear it. Hahaha. You have a lot of guts."

His Majesty laughed and went ahead and climbed the stairs to the upper floor. Apparently, he will pretend he didn't hear the comment that could be taken as disrespect to the King. As expected of His Majesty. He has a generous personality.

"It looks like it was all right."

I looked back at Panamera and was met with a dumbfounded look.

"...Even if the boy was not four-attribute sorcerer, it looks like you'll be able to make enough achievements in the war."

"Haha. I'm glad I don't have that kind of magical aptitude that would put me on the front lines. Well then, I'll go outside to rest."

Saying that, Panamera blinked as I headed for the doorway.

"What the heck. Are you being reserved in the middle of all this? I don't know what the boy's standards are. Since you built it yourself, why don't you just use one room and rest with dignity?"

"Oh, well, I'll make my own base as well. It's still bright."
