"Cut the tree! Cut the tree!"

"Move it, move it!"

"Don't let any monster get in the way!"

"Hey! Hey, you! Cut the weeds more carefully!"

Amidst the shouts of numerous knights, I was diligently laying wood blocks on the path.

Thanks to the greatly increased manpower, I paved the mountain road faster after joining the Royal Army. Trees were being brought in ahead of us faster than the wagons could go. I am constantly building soft wood blocks to conform to the shape of the road.

The road is being cleared so fast that the soldiers who are chopping down and carrying the trees are giving up and switching to take a turn before I get a chance to rest.

In no time at all, the half-day of paving is over, and we take a meal break. My timing was right, so I guess that's it for today.

As we were having a rest after receiving a cold drink from Till, His Majesty appears from the back with Panamera.

"Oh! You made this much road in the blink of an eye...!"

When His Majesty appears with a shout of admiration, the soldiers who were resting and sweating hurriedly kneel on the ground and bow their heads. Of course, the same goes for me and Till.

"Baron Van. Raise your head."

"Yes."

I replied and looked at His Majesty, and saw a face that looked incredibly pleased with himself. His Majesty opened his arms and looked around the newly built wood block roadway.

"It's wonderful! I thought I had more than grasped the usefulness of the Baron's magic, but it wasn't even close! I had no idea that a road could be laid out at the same speed as the carriages were going... It depends on the amount of magic power the baron has, but if you can do this much, we should be able to take down fortresses that we have been unable to conquer before! At any rate, it will be possible to march a large army regardless of terrain, be it a mountain, a forest, or a river! This will change the conventional wisdom of war!"

His Majesty's words, which seemed to have not yet cooled down, caused the soldiers to shout in amazement. Then Panamera nodded and joined the conversation.

"It is as you say, your Highness. The adventurers were also responsible for the safety of our march through the rugged mountains, and the Knights did not have enough sense to spot the Magic Beasts in advance. I think it would be a good idea for the Knights to adopt that excellent skill."

"Mm! Adventurers! They are much more capable than I had imagined. They have caused a bit of trouble, but I have not forgotten their achievements."

Panamera's words were met with a small nod from His Majesty. Although he was grateful for the adventurers' assessment, it seemed that His Majesty was still undecided as to who the culprit was in the matter of the temporary base. Well, since he was not siding with the nobles unilaterally, it would be a very fair judgment.

However, I don't feel good about the situation as it is.

"...I shouldn't be thinking about all this. All right, let's take a good rest today and change our minds."

I muttered quietly, and His Majesty responded with an intelligent "Oh".

"Mm-hmm. You've been using magic for such a long time. I'm sure you've reached your limit. Take a good rest and prepare for tomorrow."

I was relieved to hear that from His Majesty, who was smiling at me, and nodded back. I'm glad I wasn't told to die trying to make a road.

"Yes, sir. Then let's build a base for everyone to rest anyway, Camsin, bring the remaining wood."

"Yes!"

As I said this and began to make preparations, His Majesty blinked his eyes and said.

"My God, you still have enough magic power left to make containers?"

I can't help but smile at His Majesty as he muttered so. Let me surprise you a little.

"Van-sama! The wood is ready!"

"Oh, it's full. I had no idea there was still so much left."

Hearing Camsin's report, I look over to see a mountain of felled trees piled up at the edge of the paved road. Laughing, I check the slope of the mountain and where the road leads. Just as well, the slope is gentle and the section of road is relatively wide.

"Good. Well then, let's do our best to make it something where the officers and above can rest."

I muttered to myself and thought about the shape in my head. A building like the rest area we built before the dungeon would be good. Since it was going to be a rest area, let's make the top floor taller, so we can overlook this area. I'm worried that it will be too long and narrow, so I should make each room wider and reduce the number of walls.

While thinking about this, I touch the wood and put magic power into it. I build up a building that resembles a triangular pyramid, following the shape of the mountain. Since we are already deep in the mountain, the walls were made quite sturdy so that it could endure an attack from a strong Magic Beast.

And in order to avoid creating a foothold on the wall, the building was designed to look like a structure from an old science fiction movie. It looks like a pyramid buried underground.

However, it is huge. Since I only roughly divided the interior, I could not do much elaborate work inside. I'll make it interesting again in the future.

"...Alright! Your Majesty, please rest here for today. There is only one large door at the front, but there is no other place that can be broken into. Please rest in comfort."

I turn around and explain the building. But His Majesty's eyes and mouth were wide open as he looked up at the newly built base. And Panamera, standing next to him, crossing her arms, looks down at me and speaks.

"...Boy. You've gone too far."
