Chapter 3 Let's go on an adventure!

The next day came and Mari and Sophie met again at the tavern as promised.

"Thank you so much for saving me from a dangerous situation yesterday."

"Don't be so formal. I'm not a knight anymore."

"You're not a knight anymore?"

Sophie explained with a wry smile.

"Actually, I left the Order."

"Did they make you quit because of yesterday's incident?"

"No, not exactly. My resignation was due to another matter. Yesterday was my last day of work, so I was making the rounds to greet people. I was meeting with some important people, so I was dressed in formal attire."

I see. She wasn't wearing armor yesterday, and she wasn't dressed as a knight on guard. At least she didn't seem to be causing any trouble.

"I'm glad you're okay, by the way. But don't ever come near that ramshackle place again."

"I'm sorry. I'm not familiar with the city... I just wandered in."

I was having a cold sweat and tried to cover it up. There was no way I could say I was just doing my business.

"Don't you know Misery well? If you need help, let me know, and I'll be happy to help you."

I don't know Misery well? Would they believe me if I told them that I had been reincarnated?

"Well..." I was about to say, but stopped myself.

I don't think they'll believe me. I can't even believe it myself.

After this, I was able to talk to Sophie about this world.

After all, this was the continent of Ardesia, and the names of the other places were the same as in the game. Not only the geography, but many other things are the same. Mari was relieved to know that her knowledge was applicable to this world.

Then Sophie told her about herself. She was the eldest daughter of a baronial family, and had come to Misery from her father's estate to become a knight.

Knights begin their apprenticeship at the age of twelve, and are recruited as state knights at the age of sixteen. She is now seventeen years old and is in her second year as a regular knight.

By the time I realized this, the two of us were completely at ease with each other.

"It was a waste of five years of hard work, wasn't it, State Knight?"

"I just lost my temper and raised my hand to my senior. He's the son of a great nobleman, so I got into serious trouble."

Recalling Sophie's relentless fighting yesterday, Mari felt sincere sympathy for the senior knight.

"Now that I'm out, I'm going back to my father's territory...what about you, Mari?"

"I've thought about it for a night, but I think I'll become an adventurer, and I'll have to pay back the money I borrowed from Sophie.

"I was asked to be an adventurer too, is that fun?"

Mari's eyes lit up at this question!

The look on her face told her that she had been waiting to be asked.

"I've never been so excited about anything else in my life. Each member of the party has a dream, and we're helping each other make it happen!"

"What's Mari's dream?"

"I want to create my own party and go on adventures all over the continent. I'll collect rare items, gold and silver treasures, and use them to create my clan! The name and emblem of my clan will be known throughout Ardesia!!"

A clan is a group of like-minded adventurers, and there was no one in the game who had not heard of Mari's clan.

I'm going to recreate it again in this world! The thought of that made a hot feeling well up from deep inside my body. I stood up excitedly and put one hand on my waist and struck a guts pose!

"That's a grand dream."

"It's not a dream, I'm going to go to the Adventurer's Guild and register now. The four-story building in the fountain plaza is probably the one."

"I'm so happy to hear Mari's story. ---Okay, I've decided! I'll be your first clan member."

Mari's heart pounded as she looked straight into Sophie's blue eyes.

"Are you certain?"

"Of course, please take care of me from now on!"

Sophie held out her right hand, and Mari hesitantly grasped it firmly.

◇◇◇

That evening, they opened the door to the Adventurer's Guild.

The room was crowded with adventurers, and as soon as they entered the floor, they were approached by a swordsman named Derick Anderson, an acquaintance of Sophie's. He was a large man of about 26 years old, with dark hair and a good reputation as an adventurer.

"Hey Sophie, what's up, you need something from the Guild?"

"I'm thinking of becoming an adventurer. As soon as I sign up, I'll be in the same business as you. I look forward to working with you."

"Oh, what's going on? Last time I asked you out, you said you were going home."

"Well, I found a great partner."

"That's good because companions are the most important thing for an adventurer. You're a skilled fighter, and you'll make a great adventurer."

"I'll introduce you to Derick. This is my partner, Mari."

"I'm Mari Midou."

"I'm Derick Anderson. Nice to meet you."

Mari and Derick shake each other's hands.

"By the way, who's the boy beside you?"

Sophie looks over to see a boy in his early teens. His hair, cut short like a child's, a dark brown brunette, with adorable amber eyes. He was wearing a black robe and holding a wide-brimmed black hat in his hand.

"This is Harill Dion, the newest member of my party."

"This is Harill? I heard rumors that he's a genius child magician."

"Yeah. He's only twelve years old, but he's a full-fledged Sorcerer certified by the Sorcery Society."

"I've heard that sorcerers have more talent than their age, but I guess it's true."

Once again, Sophie looked at the boy called Harill and then smiled.

"This big sister will be an adventurer today. You're a senior, nice to meet you, Harill."

The boy's face turns bright red.

"So, Sophia-sama, I'm troubled when you talk to me like that... We all admire you... So..."

Sophie happily stroked the boy's hair, who mumbled a little at the end. Then he ran out of the room in embarrassment.

"Hey, hey, don't tease our members too much."

"Looks like I did something wrong."

The two laughed out loud at each other.

After they were done chatting with the adventurers, Mari and Sophie registered as adventurers.

Mari was a priest and Sophie was a swordswoman. Since they had no experience yet, they were both ranked F. Then they looked around the bulletin board and got their first job.

"Now we can start hunting tomorrow."

"I can't wait to start. You can count on me, I'll have lots of useful magic."

"Wow, what kind of magic?"

"That's for tomorrow."

Looking at Mari's happy smile, Sophie also smiled.

"We'll be leaving pretty early tomorrow. I think we should head back to the inn for the night."

"Right."

And so, the two of them left the Adventurer's Guild, shoulder to shoulder.
