Cardonali the magical imp was doing what he always did, he caused  trouble to others for his own amusement. Cardonali had the ability to  put any thought into a person's mind and manipulate them as he wanted  to. He stood unobserved or at least unacknowledged in the back of an  elevator waiting to see who would get in.

When Timothy and MaryElizabeth swapped bodies, the first thing they did was look at themselves.  Then, MaryElizabeth pointed at Timothy in her body.  "You little creep," she yelled.  "You stole my body."

MaryElizabeth had noticed Timothy looking her over for some time now.  She thought it was creepy, but she just tried to ignore him.

When they entered the elevator, she stood at the opposite end of the elevator to keep her distance.  She also made sure to watch him so he didn't do anything.  At their age, eleven, MaryElizabeth didn't have much to fear from Timothy.  She was much bigger and stronger than he was.  That wouldn't last, but she didn't worry about that now.

Timothy smiled wide and then spoke deliberately, "I don't have anything of yours.."

"You had better give me my body back or else."

"You're crazy," he told her with an even bigger smile on MaryElizabeth's face if that was possible.

MaryElizabeth wasn't a violent person, but she had no other recourse under the circumstances but to run toward Timothy slapping, kicking, and screaming.

Timothy who had the much bigger although feminine body now could easily repel any assault that MaryElizabeth could muster.  They were still fighting when the elevator reached its floor.

A neighbor broke it up.

"What's going on?"

"Timothy attacked me!" Timothy said in MaryElizabeth's body.

"He's Timothy, not me.  He stole my body," MaryElizabeth insisted.  No one was going to believe MaryElizabeth and her wild story.

In the end, MaryElizabeth (in Timothy's body) was sent to a boys' residential center with other troubled boys.  This wasn't the only time that Timothy got into a fight.  Well, his body anyway.  Timothy in MaryElizabeth's body never told anyone what really happened.  He likes things the way there are.
