Cardonali the magical imp was doing what he always did, he caused   trouble to others for his own amusement.  Cardonali had the ability to   put any thought into a person's mind and manipulate them as he wanted   to.  He stood unobserved or at least unacknowledged in the back of an   elevator waiting to see who would get in.

Mary put her son Jimmy down as the doors closed on the elevator.  Jimmy looked at himself in the mirrored wall.

Jimmy's maturity skyrocketed so fast that he didn't recognize himself in the reflection.  He moved his hand and then realized that the baby in front of him was himself.  He looked down at his body to make sure.  It was him alright, he could see his small naked chest, diapered crotch, and small feet.  He threw his hands up to his head in surprise.

"What happened to me?" Jimmy said.

"Who is dat?  Who is dat? Who is that handsome man?" Jimmy heard from above him.

Jimmy looked up and saw a seemingly giant woman.

"Miss, what is going on here?"

Mary heard Jimmy speaking proper English.  He had never strung this many words together at one time. Regardless, she said in her high-pitched voice, "Is that you?  Is that you?  Are you dat handsome man?"

"Excuse me, I am not a baby.  Something is wrong here."

"Yes, you are.  Yes, you are!  That little baby is you."

"Listen to me, My name is James Davis and could I borrow your phone.  I have to call..."  But it was clear that the woman wasn't paying any attention to what he was saying.

James looked away and back at the mirrored surface.  Mary reached down and picked James up.  James tried to ward off being picked up, but he was too small.  Mary lifted James's face high and then gingerly bumped their noses.  "You are the most handsome man," the told him in sugary-sweet tones.  Then she held James in one arm and used to other arm to have James make the bye-bye pose.

"Miss, I am sorry.  I'm not a baby.  I'm a grown man!" James insisted, but Mary treated him exactly as he had before they entered the elevator.

Mary would continue to treat James his as biological age, despite his maturity and emotional age.
