Cardonali the magical imp was doing what he always did, he caused trouble to others for his own amusement.  Cardonali had the ability to put any thought into a person's mind and manipulate them as he wanted to.  He stood unobserved or at least unacknowledged in the back of an elevator waiting to see who would get in.

Patrick Nash and Brad Samuels enter the elevator from different floors headed for the lobby.  Patrick was a young man in his early thirties.  He was messaging on his phone with one of his many girlfriends.  He had had many girlfriends in his life, but none were really serious.  He would sate them, bang them and then let the relationship die.  He could have two or three girls at a single time.  Patrick didn't care, they were just girls to be used to.

Brad, short for Bradley, had been married for over thirty years to his wife Thelma.  He was a respectable man, who was retired from a respectable job.  He liked to be well groomed as his button-down shirt, white slacks, and the brown belt would attest to.  The gentleman didn't address the other until Cardonali worked his magic.

Patrick looked up from his phone ignoring the messages from what he marginally used to call his girlfriend (before a few seconds ago).

"Brad you didn't answer my question.  I asked you if you talked to Thelma?"

"Well of course I talk to Thelma.  Every night when I go home I talk to Thelma.  What's the matter with you, Patrick?  Do I talk to Thelma? hahaha."

"Did you tell Thelma that you are leaving her, Brad?"

"What is this?  $2000 for wallpaper for your apartment?"

"Yes, Patrick."

"What are you wallpapering it in Patrick?  Currency?"

"You know Brad there is a simple solution to all this.  If you leave Thelma and move in with me I'll be happier.  And when I'm happier I don't spend as much money."

"I'm sorry Patrick, you'll just have to wait."

"Wait?"

"Yes, wait."

"Remember thirteen years ago, when you had your first grandchild.  You said you couldn't leave because Thelma had been waiting so long to become a grandmother and you didn't want to break her heart?"

"Uh-huh"

"So I waited."

"A few years passed and then your Daughter stopped eating.  She discovered she was an anorexic.  And you couldn't leave then while Thelma was nursing her to health.

Now your grandsons a Bar-Mitzvah and your daughter can eat, and I'm still waiting.  I'm not going to wait anymore.  You are going to leave Thelma now!  You are going to go home and tell her you are leaving.  And if you don't I will."

"hahaha, Fine! Go!"

"I'll do it.  I swear!"

"Fine, fine.  Do you need directions to my apartment?"

"I know where you live, Brad."

"Good.  Well, goodbye Patrick.  Say hello to Thelma for me.  Go to my apartment and tell Thelma.  Never try to bluff a bluffer."

Patrick got off the elevator on the next floor and walked up the stairs to Brad's floor.  He was going to tell her about his homosexual affair with Brad.  Before he could do it though, Brad stopped him.  They went to Patrick's apartment and made passionate love for the rest of the afternoon.  Patrick reconsidered his threat, he loved Brad so much that he couldn't bring himself to threaten the relationship.  He would have to wait until Brad did as he had promised and left Thelma.  But until then, Patrick's door was always opened for any rendezvous with Brad.
