What was beautiful was how it’s not Flamme’s desire for revenge that helped defeated the Demon King (mana suppression). It was Flamme’s love of magic that helped Frieren find the connections to beat the Demon King (flower spell)

So there’s a theory that either Serie is suppressing her mana, or is visually boosting her mana. Like trying to portray herself stronger than she is. Idk if the theory has been debunked or not.

I love that everything that annoys Serie about Frieren, and Flamme is what lets Frieren be part of the group that defeated the Demon King. When Serie tells Frieren she can't believe Frieren defeated the Demon King, someone really needs to edit in Yoda, saying, "And that's why you fail."

She is heavily suppressing it. Her suppressed mama is equal to Frierens total mana. Hopefully you’ll get to see her in action if they adapt for another season

My theory: The first first class mage believed Frieren‘s amount of mana to be equal to that of Serie‘s, because he could notice her fluctuation. He never noticed Serie‘s fluctuations tho and that the big amount of mana we saw around her was her suppressed state. So she has a lot more mana than Frieren and is also way more skilled at concealing it for nobody to notice it until Fern and most probably Frieren.

I can't tell if shes suppressing or boosting it either. The way she talked about how its stupid and useless to suppress it lead me to believe she wasnt suppressing it. Serie seems very logical but at the same time follows her intuition and hunches like how she decided to teach Flamme.

I love the trust most of our characters have in eachother, the way Fern trusts what Frieren says and acts on it (in important matters), the way Frieren trusts that Fern will pass no matter what.

Serie at multiple times has gone exactly against what she explicitly says, she says it's a waste to train humans, but always continues to do so, that she found Flamme 'disgusting' but smiled remembering her. It would not surprise me if she did in fact practice and master the technique to conceal mana constantly that she called useless, just because she has that much time to do so.

Definitely check out the manga. I tend to pick up manga after the anime, because I have the voices and music in my head already. But I’ve read Frieren first, and experiencing the manga come to life with such love. It’s really breathtaking

They've established how mana fluctuates when they're suppressing it. Serie herself says that Lernen never noticed her own mana fluctuating. So yes, she is suppressing her mana down to the level of Frieren's (Serie is likely much higher). Fern notices the fact that her mana is being suppressed which is why she is in awe, realising Serie is more powerful than Frieren.

I think what Serie meant by suppressing mana is a "useless" skill, is that at her level she's been suppressing her mana, but it's still monstrously large and at the same level as Frieren's full mana. The proctor guy couldn't even notice the fluctuations in her mana, and only Fern who's been suppressing mana at such an early age could. So, to her it's a useless skill since that wouldn't trick demons anyway, they'll be able to tell she's strong despite supressing her mana in a more refined way than Frieren does. Fun fact, Flamme taught Frieren to suppress her mana to only show 10% of it, if Frieren's full mana is the around same as Serie's suppressed mana, that means Serie has about 10x more mana than Frieren.

I really like the contrast between serie's group of mages, all the same color cloths, almost no expressions, tests with hidden meanings etc. Compare to frierens group of test takers everyone has different colors, view points, and personalities. It's a really great way to contrast frieren and serie.

Idk how far along you are in the manga but it is made very clear that other than the goddess she is the strongest character alongside maybe the demon king. I think its clear given what we learn that she is supressing it

It's stated multiple times that amount of mana correlates to how long someone's been alive and series is frieren's master's master. Frieren is also not per se the oldest elf around, kraft literally calls her young.

I think Serie talking about the flower spell being useless is like frieren saying it was just a mere 10 year adventure. Like serie just happens to be caring for some flowers. And she is the head of humanity’s imperial mage association. She’s just playing it off like she doesn’t care I bet, these two elves are just dealing with their lifespans in different ways it seems.
