Thirty-four year old in the US here, in 2010 I was in a car accident, other person's fault. I took an ambulance ride ~10 minutes to the hospital, then got an x-ray, then a CT scan. Stayed overnight in the hospital, then released. No injuries apart from bruising, the CT was because they thought they saw a hairline fracture in a vertebrae in my neck, upon review of the CT the next morning they realized it was just a natural cleft in the bone. So they released me. Total bill $18000. Other persons car insurance paid them $9000 and they 'wrote off' the rest. In 2020 I had bladder cancer. I had a tumor removed from my bladder in a relatively quick procedure called a TURBT. The total cost of diagnosing and it and removing it was $3851.25. After my health insurance, I paid a total of $755.81. This is not counting the anesthesia, which is a separate bill for some reason, and I cannot find the record of, but I believe I had to pay an additional ~$700 for. Now, this type of cancer required no ongoing Chemo, and no radiation of any kind. It was mostly just a surgery. Nearly 4 years cancer free now though, lol.

in regards to the questions about other nations health insurance. i'm 45 and in illinois, USA. alot of my family has suffered because of USA lack of better healthcare. i know a few people who either moved to canada, sweden, etc or just went there for treatment. currently one of my cousins is desperate trying to move into england for her own health issues and for her daughter who has bad health issues. she already tried to move to canada but for some reasons they would not let her and her husband and daughter in . she could explain it better. i am disabled by autism and ptsd which helps me get some insurance and disability, but recently long covid has done more damage to me and it is not enough aid to survive on anymore. i had some aid coming to me through transportation and recently some aid workers vanished, they actually ran off, and usa government is cutting off our transportation and internet/ phone etc programs. now very soon i have no way to get to my job or job programs, or to my doctors, etc. i cannot walk that much anymore. yet i wanted to work. i hope that helps explain some things.
