I was fortunate enough to see this in theaters when it came out. With my mother. Who used to read me the books when I was a young child.

I love this movie. This was fun. I hadn't seen it in a while. When this came out December 19 2001, I saw this 10 times at the theatre (2nd one I also saw 10 times, 3rd one I only got to see 5 times at the theatre, but still 25 times for all 3 films at the theatre. My favorite line from the film is from the scene when they are trecking up the mountain and Frodo slips, falls, then rolls down a bit and Boromir picks up the ring looking at it. "Tis such a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing. Such a little thing." That is to this day, my favorite scene, and my favorite line of the whole series. These movies are how I envision my world and my games when I run DnD/Pathfinder. The Scorpion King released in April of 2002, Fellowship released December 2001. Armageddon released in 1998.

So there was a time when I had Special Edition; Extended DVD and I watched them more with Director, Writers and Actors then the actual movie. So I will enjoy the commentary and listen to what you love and hopefully more.

I wonder how long we will have to wait for towers now lol

I like Fellowship the most. It has all the textures of the other movies - epic battles, great lines, memorable performances but it does the heaviest lifting of the franchise. It gives every character a reason for fighting, for continuing onward when the odds are stacked against them. It does that while remaining light, energetic, and charismatic as all hell

I can't even begin to tell y'all how much fun I had watching this with you guys. It's been so long since I've watched these with a fellow LOTR nerd. Yes, Simone I think you should give Rings of Power another chance. It's worth it IMO. George...maybe get stoned first? I will always say that what happened to Boromir, would have happened to every other member of the fellowship, except maybe Aragorn and Sam. My favorite changes every once in a while. Two Towers was my favorite at first. Then in my 20s I liked ROTK the most, and now Fellowship is my favorite (because of the Gandalf quote that's voiced over Frodo - tattooed on my chest).

Have you guys seen the MTV Awards parody of Fellowship? It's pretty funny - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW7rvp0S4XI

It's Slow Sam Day (aka Valentine's Day), and I just want to bring everyone into the joy that everybody on Spanish twitter has today! Explaining jokes never works, and I inevitably have to for those who don't speak Spanish, but I don't care, because it's adorable: Today, everyone is sharing posts with a screencap of the moment Sam says 'this is as far as I've ever travelled' in the Shire, wit the caption Sam va lentin (Sam is lagging behind / Sam walks slowly) because it sounds similar to 'San Valentin' (Saint Valentine). It's been happening for 10 years (!!) and it's become such a huge tradition that it reached Sean Austin, who is really amused to be the hero of Valentine's Day in my country, and people share countless variations on the theme, people consider it a yearly tradition and make countdowns and preparations... It's joyous and hilarious. So happy Sam va lentin Day everybody! https://twitter.com/SeanAstin/status/1360789753214377985

I do want to say, in this flood of comments, that I love you both for doing this. It's a gamble when it comes to money because it's a rewatch and it's a looot of work for the edited versions. Had such a a great time watching, can't wait to get to the next one soon. You both have become my favorite patreon subbed reactors, just so you know ❤️

Hmmm, aside from Brian Blessed?... Maybe Nick Offerman

Had to wait until I had some time for this so probably no one will see this but who cares. I think Fellowship is the best, but Return is my favorite. And I love all three, but Two Towers is so fragmented -- well done, but still fragmented -- with all our faves so far apart for the entire movie. But Return is my favorite for similar reasons as George -- it's where all the payoff is, and there's so much emotion because we've been with these characters so long. On a much more minor note, Armageddon did come out before these movies -- it was 1998.

Oh man, rest in piece Ian Holm. His death devastated me. I grew up with him; first in The Borrowers, then Lord of the Rings, then Alien. What a wonderful actor.
