The Mist and Planes in one weekend? Sweet!

I don't have tattoos. I think if I did I would just get one. One and done.

This was fun! Is "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" on your list?

Young Blood Priest

I’m glad you watched it because I’d never seen nor heard of this movie. This was a good time.

Few things in this world are worse than moving with a couch and a refridgerator, my last place still has the scars im sure. But I would assume that part of the delivery for a new one includes bringing the damn thing in to where it would go? What would an old person do with a 500 pound fridge on their lawn, hire even more people to move it the extra 50 feet? Boo and hiss on these fridge delivery men! Edit: watch 'The Jerk' for more steve martin.

The other great Hughes/Candy film is Uncle Buck

Steve Martin has been a hero of mine since I was a little kid watching him and listening to his stand up routines in the seventies. I saw this in the theater, and I have probably watched it a few dozen times since, and never get tired of it. I have known people like Del, who are kind to a fault, and just get really excited about making new friends that they get a little spastic. But for all their faults you can always count on them when you need them.

Dooby the taxi driver (Larry Hankin) also played Tom Pepper, [a guy playing] Kramer on Seinfeld, when Jerry and George were trying to turn Jerry's life into a sitcom (a show in the show) - https://seinfeld.fandom.com/wiki/Tom_Pepper

Thank god for torrents, because this movie isn't streaming for free anywhere.

Oh, and we learned Simone loves cheese and pie but hates being cold. These watch-alongs are so educational!

Love this film! Delighted you decided to react to it :) For another Steve Martin comedy, I'd like to suggest 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' (1988), I suggested it once before but I was waiting for another poll (that didn't have too many comments) to suggest it again, but as there is a Steve Martin connection I figured I'd mention it here! I'd love to see you guys react to that one. I'd also love to see you watch 'Parenthood' (1989), but I'm less hopeful of that gaining traction with your viewers. It does have a pretty stacked cast though so for that reason alone it would be cool to see!

Houdini died from more than just a punch in the gut. He had appendicitis, the punch burst his appendix and that's what killed him.

100 miles is not that far. Once the car caught on fire, all they needed to do was find a working phone, Neil's wife could come get them. Then again, Del probably would have destroyed that car or caused a divorce or something lol

Justin James

Another one of my favourites, that this one reminded me of, is "After Hours" (1985)... probably one of my favourites by Martin Scorsese!

you guys should watch 9 to 5

Yo George, will we get to see the back piece on IG or something?

Tattoos? My father had a tattoo on his right forearm. Skull with a snake through the eye socket and a dagger. He got it as 11th Airborne in Okinawa, designed by an artist in the same outfit... buncha guys went into town, got drunk, and tattooed. (Dad lied about his age when he was 16 to enlist before the end of WWII.) He hated the tattoo. Never wore short sleeve shirts, even when swimming. So, here I am, gonna turn 73 before the end of the month, and I still do not understand tattoos. My youngest daughter has a few... except for me not knowing I was paying for her first two when she was away at college, none anger me. I just do not understand. I am a geezer. I would vacuum your sheets each morning until the flaking let up. ----- I disliked Neal (the tight ass) from the start, but both were assholes who learned to be friends.

I would love to see them react to Godzilla (1998) with matthew broderick.

I love this film as is but it's always crazy to me that the original cut was over 3 1/2 hours long. A couple of interesting things i've heard: 1. The thief was actually supposedly a pizza delivery guy that Del didn't tip when the pair of them ordered pizza at the motel (hence he broke in and stole the money for revenge rather than it being some random event) 2. Del has a black eye in the scene where they get the cheese truck to take them to Chicago because there was a cut scene where Neil punches him because he didn't get insurance for the rental car. 3. The reason why Neil's wife is so relieved at the end is that she had been suspecting Neil of having an affair the entire time and therefore the emotion is as much for the fact that Del showed up confirming that everything Neil had said was true.

Wow, that was the most insightful post movie review I have seen for this movie, indeed it was not a just a review of the movie but life and is a testament to how great this movie is to allow for such a conversation. As per other comments Uncle Buck is Candy's other beloved movie where he is the main star along with a certain "new comer" to the movie industry who goes on to do big things, for a while. And I believe the Kevin Bacon cameo was a crossover to a movie he did at the same time and in that movie the same scene plays out with Martin being the cameo, quite a cool concept. Starlord would approve.
