Glad yous enjoyed it. To answer Simone's question, Dr. Gordon isn't in the 2nd one (you do get an explanation for Jigsaw being able to lie still for hours though). but that's not to say we never see the doc again. I'd say 1, 2 and 6 are the best, but I do enjoy the nonsense in 3 through 5. I thought 3D was bloody awful and I liked Jigsaw. Still haven't seen Spiral. You see a lot more of Jigsaw in later entries and Tobin Bell is great, even if Jigsaw is full of shit. The twist at the end of this is just the start, I've already said it in this thread, but this series really is insane. They never top that one but twists and turns aplenty is one of the signatures of the Saw movies. They all follow a similar pattern, a cop plot and trap plot playing out alongside each other. But they definitely get more gruesome (watching this one again, it really is only 5-10 seconds you actually have to look away), but they also get more ridiculous and laughable. I'd say if yous like the 2nd one, keep going but if you're not feeling it as much, the rest will likely be diminishing returns.

I would actually say Saw 2 is one of the worst and 3,4 and 5 are really good.

The others are just more of the same but I haven’t seen from spiral onwards.

I'm so happy to watch them react to this movie. I get why people don't like what the series became, I don't mind, but the first movie is sooo good no matter how many times I watch it and it's mostly for the twist ending. The twist, the music played over the reveal, and the "Game Over!" ending along with the screams gives me chills every time. Nothing beats watching people react to this for the first time

Ricardo Alanis

This movie was such a surprise for me. Just watched it randomly expecting nothing special and the reveal is excellent. I think Saw 1-3 is a great trilogy. Kind of goes off the rails a bit after that but at least the first two sequels tie in really well.

DM DC

If you want some answers to your questions then I would continue the series. However I will be honest, it gets messy. You may want to pace yourselves. This is one of my favorite franchies in horror. All of them are pretty good.

I would say this might've been saying more than you should have in that first paragraph. They ended up not looking up the cast of 2...just my two cents though.

My_Cousin_Mose

When the first Saw came out it felt like I had never seen a movie like it before. And it holds up to this day. Great movie, great reaction. Honestly this is the only one worth watching. The next 2 are ok but it really is just torture porn after the first. I wont say anything to spoil anything other than I REALLY don't like the way the story goes after a while. I think they were just trying way too hard to get 10 movies out of this all and I guess it worked. They made money.

Chase Schleich

He didn't move the whole time because he drugged himself. Remember when Danny Glover and his partner found the one victim under the blanket (the scene where Jigsaw kicked their asses). Jigsaw was testing different sedatives on that victim. He mentioned the victim being awake too early so he needs to find a different mixture. He was looking for a sedative that would knock himself out on the floor for the right amount of time and it needed to be precise.

hey shout out to my homie Leigh Whannell!

Opti_Frog

This one and F&F7 are the only James Wan movies i can stand. And both are just scraping by as ok. Saw has a killer twist and a great ending, but the MTV editing and stylistic choices are annoying as hell. The sequels are a (much too) long line of diminishing returns.

UNC

Great reaction! Thank you!

Jon

So this is a weird one for me. When I first saw this I thought it was pretty good until the cops were chasing the guy through the hallway and from the way it was shot I could tell it wasn't the person they had been building up as the killer and that kind of ruined the whole "Twist" for me. Strangely enough I actually prefer the second one to the first.

Middy

I watched the entire franchise just a few months ago. The thing that really stood out was movies 1-3 being near identical in terms of style and quality. The storytelling takes a step down after that and the cinematography changes noticeably for the worse, but if you enjoy 4 you'll probably enjoy 5, 6 and 3D because those are more or less on par with each other.

Noe Ramirez

I love this movie so much and the next three. It gets sillier and crazier after that but I enjoy the rest as like guilty pleasures. Lol I'm excited for this new one, Im curious which way it's gonna go but hopefully it's good. You guys should check out other films from James Wan and Leigh Whannell. James Wan with his horror films like The Conjuring and Insidious movies and Leigh Whannell with his awesome movie Upgrade and The Invisible Man. Love how these dudes made these massive careers out of this one movie that cost like 5 bucks to make. It's amazing and inspiring to say the least.

Noe Ramirez

I love the second one. Some parts of that movie make me so uncomfortable to think about though just because of how gnarly it is.

I've been meaning to say this earlier, but those curls look really good on you, Simone! I've avoided this movie and now watched it beforehand (I can't watch most movies for the first time with anybody talking). It was better than I expected, but not exactly something I want to revisit.

redddfer44

I lied. I watched the YT edit. Well done making it watchable and fun!

redddfer44

Also, George, what do you mean, "ironic deaths?" Wouldn't it have been ironic if they'd had a ten thousand spoons (when they all needed was a saw) or a guy afraid of planes who died in a plane crash on his first flight ever? (Yes, I'm kidding.) Final Destination also has two installments in 3D. You already know everyone hates the fourth one, but 3D doesn't ruin the fifth one. Could you do them as a double-feature reaction so that you wouldn't have to sacrifice a weekly reaction slot for a bad movie? Together, they're not much longer than The Godfather Part II :p

Simone's dream!?! WTF!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Dang!

Tenn Seven

Supposedly the first escape room was in 2007 (in Kyoto, Japan). Definitely a possibility that this movie was was an inspiration.

I am late to this party, but an answer to Simone's question in the intro about whether there were any other series like Saw, where there are a bunch of movies and it has just kept going, would be The Fast and Furious series. Started around the same time, in 2001, kept fairly steady releases, and just released the 10th film this year. The 11th if you want to count the spinoff Hobbs and Shaw. It may or may not be considered to fall under the definition of horror, depending on how much the person you are talking to hates the series.

iOmegaTron

Simone getting scared has got to be the most hilarious thing ever! I die of laughter every time. XD

The franchise is all downhill after the first. It just becomes about the novelty of the traps. Not worth continuing IMO.

Jonah Bertorelli

I feel like this is spoken from someone who didn't watch it for the story or don't remember the story and only watched it for the gruesome traps. I feel like it doesn't go downhill until around 4-5 area. The story remains good and connected for the first few. and after that is definitely a cash grab and attempts and just being creative with more ways to torture people under the Saw IP. But definitely worth the watch either way. for them to make up their own mind on it.
