As someone who went all out on 3D TV and 3D monitors in the mid 2010s, it still has yet to have it's hayday and never quite got past the gimmick phase. As much as it pains me to say it, Avatar has gotten the closest for cinema and racing games like Dirt have gotten the closest for gaming. There have been notable gimmick attempts on both fronts to push the medium but they're still sitting in an uncanny valley.
