Astraeos

My favorite two hours of the week right here! These are two really good episodes too, lots going on.

How do you not laugh as soon as the drugs just randomly fall at Omar's feet lol

Agent Squirrels

Jamie Hector is fantastic and it's definitely an acting choice rather than the blankness of the actor. He's in the show Bosch and it's like night and day. He's so cold on The Wire but has all the warmth and charm in the world on Bosch.

D. Kennedy

Namond's mom didn't let Dukie in because you know Dukie is the like the dirty kid. He doesn't have the best clothes, he smells, he's living worse than all of them. Namond's mom isn't a good person, so it's for superficial reasons why she didn't let him in even if he is a kid, she doesn't care.

Travis

He doesn’t want to stay in the car with him at the end because he is afraid that he is gay and is grooming him. As evidence from earlier on when Dennis rests his arm on his shoulder at the gym the kid quickly slides over. That’s also why he is quick to talk about how the boxers gf must be fine af because he’s trying to drop clues that he’s straight. Common signs of someone who has has a history of sexual trauma/been perpetrated against. They’re not comfortable with other males who take a lot of interest in them without wanting anything obvious in return.

Mayor Royce using city workers to sabotage his political opponent is absolutely corrupt and illegal. There is most likely a state law and city ordinance that prohibits the use of a public office or public resources for personal/political gains. It could also lead to an election law violation for failure to report an in-kind contribution.

In the US the Hatch Act makes it illegal to make use of government resources for political campaigns. Video of city workers removing signs only supporting your opponent would be a clear violation, plus a huge local scandal. The van wasn't towed because it had been parked too long -- When the work crews showed up to dig up the sidewalk w/o warning they would have put up No Parking signs, then brought in traffic enforcement to remove vehicles parked on that side of the street.

Or you could just let them watch the rest of the season...

An interesting aside about Lt. Marimow, who destroyed the Major Crimes Unit. Simon named him after William Marimow, a former editor of the Baltimore Sun (Simon's former paper). Marimow and fellow editor John Carroll ran the Sun at a time when large corporations were buying local papers around the country and squeezing them for profits by cutting back on reporting staff and depending more on wire services for content. Simon was angry at Marimow and Carroll for going along with these cuts, which he feels ultimately became responsible for killing local reporting around the country.

If you can get past Kevin Spacey being the main star, Boris McGyver plays a decent person, a newspaper editor, in House of Cards on Netflix which , imo, is one of the great series until the last one which was rubbish for obvious reasons.

First, sorry if I'm taking anyone's thunder away who might have posted in season 3. The Deacon, who goes around giving wisdom to Bunny and Dennis, aka Cutty is played by Melvin Williams. He was the inspiration and the real life drug kingpin of Baltimore that David Simon based The Wire.

The Film Effect

I wish you had the whole season uploaded, so I could just binge it. I love watching this season with you two.

And Ed Burns was one of the cops who caught him. David Simon wrote a few feature articles on him for the Baltimore Sun in the late 80s as well.
