I'm not going to spoil anything, but the Rawls in a gay bar could be as simple as showing that characters are real people, even if they are not the protagonists of this story we are following they are the protagonist of their own story. It could hint at depth this way. And also that anyone can be gay, there is no "type".

is andor gonna be the next tv series? i remember it coming 2nd to season 3 of the wire😅

Loving The Wire coverage as always, and can’t wait for the finale next week. Would love for you to continue but understand why you probably won’t immediately. I’m assuming next is probably Andor or Mando, but as I said previously would love to watch a comedy with you two like Good Place or Ted Lasso. George (and Simone) don’t worry about sounds from AC we never hear them and I will speak for everyone here, we would rather you be comfortable than sweating because you were too hot (insert clever, yet tasteful comment about you being attractive)!

redddfer44

Yeap. I've never heard one single background noise they/you have been worrying about. No neighbors, traffic, AC, not even cats purring. The latter's an outrage.

Severance would be the perfect balance of comedy and drama. Ted Lasso has its moments, but Severance is sublime. Short investment at this point, too.

Joits

Severance would be a great show for them to react to.

I just realized that because this is Patrion only, we miss out on YouTube thumbnails of Simone as Bubbles, Simone as McNulty, or even Simone as Valchek!

Really hope you jump straight into Season 4, it's just incredible

Not only are the next two episodes some of the best television imaginable, but the next season (season 4), is probably the best season of television available to the human species. It's equal in quality to Game of Thrones season 1.

I'm just going to throw this out there: An anthology series that I've seen none of the major channels do, is Noah Hawley's Fargo. It is a show that kind of lives in the same universe as the Coen brothers' movie and brings the same sensibilities and quirks while being a wholly original thing. Each season brings together a brilliant ensemble of characters and wild plots that provide plenty of dramatic tension. There are currently 4 seasons and all are good but 1-3 particularly stand out. Season 5 will be released later this year.

I'd say each of the first four seasons of The Wire are higher quality than Game of Thrones season 1, personally.

You asked (in this video, or the previous week?) how the situation in Baltimore is these days. Based on Wikipedia, crime was in decline in the years after the show finished. The yearly numbers of homicides, for instance, dropped to 196 (the first time below 200 since 1978). But it got bleaker after that with devastating 348 homicides in 2019. (By the by, apparently the show painted a bleaker picture of the homicides in the early 00s than was reality: 253 in 2002, 270 in 2003, 276 in 2004... Still not an encouraging number, but lower than the 300 presented as the unrealistic goal in the show.) David Simon's newest miniseries, We Own This City, was based on a nonfiction book about corruption in the Baltimore Police Department. I haven't seen it, but I hear it's even more pessimistic about the BPD than The Wire is.

You guys really, seriously, genuinely, legitimately need to watch The Sopranos.

Stan the Man

The Sopranos. Y’all are the last patreon channel I sub to that has yet to watch The Sopranos. TBR Schmitt is going to be done in a couple months so I’m going to need to new Sopranos reaction feed. It’s gotta be you 2.

UNC

Would love The Sopranos! But also would really enjoy Succession. Not enough Succession reactions out there and you both would love it!
