The Expanse: Season 1 - Episode 9 & 10 - Patreon Exclusive

I'm also passing on watching the next two series, but I do love "The Wire", I just don't think it'll be worth watching a reaction video to. As great as that show is, it is slower the The Expanse, and the big joy of it is watching it grow and unfold over multiple seasons, just like The Expanse. So, if they are only going to do 1 season of The Wire, then go off and watch other series, and maybe come back and do season 2 a year or so later, then I'm not too interested in watching. Maybe a few years from now if they have done all the seasons by then, I'll go back a watch the full thing, but no interest in only watching the reaction to only a small part of the story. It would be like only watching the first 8 minutes of a movie reaction video. The enjoyment, for me, is seeing the reactions to the full thing

"We're going to do one season of a show, and then we'll do another show" Wait, so you're telling me I just spent a bunch of money to watch reactions to this show, and just spend many hours going through the first season with you, and now you're just going to abandon it for some other random shit that you have already seen?? Jesus christ, thanks for wasting my fucking my time and money....that's some real bullshit...now I'm actually angry....That's one way to get people to unsubscribe immediately...Don't start something unless you're prepared to deliver and finish it. That's like one of the main unwritten rules of reaction videos and Patreon. Another unwritten rule is; don't react to something you've already seen. I don't normally swear in comments, but damn, this is very disappointing...

The Wire is very, very probably the greatest TV show there is. And indeed it is a slower show in some ways (albeit enjoyable far faster than The Expanse imo). But it is a monument of actual writing, of character development, of making a city and a culture a character of its own. That being said, the seasons (especially the first) are somewhat contained. They build upon each other, but they stand without the next ones. Each season has a very clear arc. Some thread and left untouched and unresolved, but that goes with one major theme of the show, its realism/verisimilitude. One doesn't get to know everything in real life. I believe watching just the first season would be worthwhile. If anything, it will allow anyone who didn't know the show but fall in love with it to continue on their own. One thing though: do watch with subtitles. Don't even try it without. If they are looking for shorter recommendations, Sherlock (the British show with Cumberbatch and Freeman) is only 10 or 12 episodes overall, and quite good.

It's a bit disappointing, sure, but you don't have to overreact or fly off the handle about it. Also, your money wasn't wasted, it's a monthly contribution, you paid for your time, you got the content delivered in that time, you can move on if the new stuff isn't of interest. You're not owed anything, you weren't promised the full series. It's nice when they watch the whole thing, sure, but if they weren't enjoying then it's well within their rights to move on and try something new. I'm happier with that than watching their reactions to something they're not invested in or find tedious to watch.

lmao what an entitled little child. you can access tv reactions for 5 bucks. FIVE dollars for 10 hours of reactions. sounds like a pretty good deal to me but naaah the world owes you something you didnt even know existed a few days ago. tantrum some more kid.

I've enjoyed their reaction to this, but I understand seeing through their perspective how confusing and frustrating the first season can be. They seemed kinda on board with these last two episodes, and that will grow, as they said, they plan on giving it a fair shake and continuing, and I can't wait. You also have to realize that they have many patrons, and many viewers, who won't be engaged with this content, so it's not fair to those viewers for them to watch only The Expanse for, what, over half a year at this rate? I'm looking forward to them revisiting it, and I'm happy they stuck through the season at least, sometimes people don't even do that if they aren't feeling a show, because they are providing entertainment, and if they can't, then they might feel they're doing a bad job, and they don't want to do that to the people who pay to watch them. Try giving their other posts a go, and if it doesn't do it for you, if you're only interested in watching them watch The Expanse, then unsubscribe and maybe come back when they get back to it.

yeah they got nearly 3000 patrons, and each of these videos its the same few dozen people commenting, and it gets what, 200 views average on the YT link? which means like 2800 people not caring about this show. so switching to something else totally make sense, i wouldnt want to wait for them to do 5 seasons of a show i have no interest neither. not to mention, when this show first came out, viewers had to wait over a year before S2, so theyre basically just doing what we all did when it was at first a new show. quit being such a baby.

I'm so tired of other Expanse fans making posts like this. I'm an Expanse fan and they said they will be watching season 2 Posts like this make us all look bad. I think the comments on these vids, even though G&S seem to be missing some details here and there and it is aggravating a bit, lessens my enjoyment of their reaction. It's not that they are missing details... it's people freaking out over them not instantly falling in love with the show. Give them time. The show will speak for itself. Like it did for us.

My friends. they watch shows based on poll reactions. if its that important then sub and vote in the polls.

I'm so so sorry they've wasted your precious time and money. You truly must be shaken to your core. I mean could you imagine someone not being as into a show you like? Oh the humanity!

Thank you for giving it a shot, I enjoyed watching along with you guys. I found it hard to get into the first time I watched it, and it ended up being one of my favourite shows. Don't worry about the negative people, and if you don't end up coming back to the show then no worries, life's too short to watch things you aren't interested in :)

Thanks for giving the series a try. Sorry you guys didn't enjoy it as much.

Oh also other sci-fi shows that might be more palatable and easier to get into are 12 Monkeys and Fringe, if you're looking for more sci-fi stuff.

You guys should try the boys. Humor, action......and deranged.

Chase Schleich

They did season 2. Hopefully they'll do season 3 after they're done with these other TV shows they're watching.

Cory Garron

ABSOLUTELY cannot wait for them to watch The Wire!

Enjoyed the reaction. I've now only seen the 1st season of The Expanse, watching along here, but it's probably the third time I've started it. Previously I could never quite get into it...but I think Im now interested enough to watch the next season. Then again, it took me several tries to get past the first couple of episodes of Succession, and that's one of my favorite shows ever now :) Also, very glad to see you're going to watch The Wire, another top-notch show. Interestingly, the actor playing "the Butcher" in The Expanse is also in The Wire, at least for a good chunk of a season, but I dont know if it's Season 1. Speaking of... I also like the actor playing the OPA leader that you guys called "the Professor". I didnt catch what show you recognized him from... I only know him from playing a MUCH different character for a few seasons of Mad Men (another excellent, one-of-the-best-ever shows on TV), where he's a bookish, proper English gentleman in the mid 1960s :)

Succession is amazing, I remember watching the first episode live by accident (I have a feeling it was on after Ballers or something) and being hooked right from the start - if people haven't seen it, just watch it, don't do any research :p Oh, by the way if you like The Wire have you tried Bosch? Same production team almost and even some of the same actors..

I would love to see a "Youtube version" of these patreon exclusive reactions. I prefer the shortened reactions with the footage already included. Just keep them unlisted. These full length reactions assume people have access to the original content and if even we do; too lazy to sync it up or not practical on a mobile device.

Yeah, The Expanse started a bit slow for me, but when you've seen a couple of seasons, you'll be kicking yourself for not having binged it from the beginning...and you'll realize that the first season wasn't really that slow at all. 🚀😀
