"want more of the show and so sad" one of us... one of us...

Robert 'Jemimus' Kloosterhuis

This is one of the best explanations of Jubal I have read in youtube comments: ---- Objects in Space is an exploration of existentialism. On naturalism, which most existentialists affirm, all people are objects in space no different than tables and chairs, except that the complex circuitry of our neural system leads to various emergent properties, though many existentialists would find that reductionist. Early seems to take that view, note that referring to Book, he says, "That ain't a shepherd," not "He ain't a shepherd." For Early, taking this view allows him to distance himself from the human consequences of his actions; River, by contrast, imbues objects with meaning to connect with them more: a well made gun is a beautiful twig that is, "...just an object. It doesn't mean what you think." This second is closer to the experience of most existentialists. On existentialism, life is meaningless and absurd. We craft a meaning ourselves and imbue it into our lives and relationships. Because the meaning is ours, it is often viewed as more meaningful than one derived from God's or other externalities. These themes are sprinkled all throughout the episode right down to Early's final words. At the end of the day, unless we have crafted meaning for ourselves and imbued our life with it, all naturalism allows us to say is, "Here I am."

Reiterating the Expanse hype. That is all.

thank you for this existentialism/naturalism rabbit hole, good citizen!

Or what if it's a story about a bounty hunter who didn't catch Simon and River?

I liked Expanse A LOT but in my old rotten heart it had nothing on Battlestar Galactica. The first season of Expanse is just throwaway exposition for me. Compare it to first episode of BSG, "33", which just grabbed me and never let go. Still stoked for (at least) Expanse though.

Śéáń

I view it as a spiritual successor, is the first show to get close to the BSG magic. One thing I will say is I feel Expanse is very strong the whole way through, while BSG waned a bit in later seasons (but remains one of my all time favourite shows)

Armchair Wizard

I like BSG, but its not consistent. The Expanse starts out pretty good and becomes incredible. BSG starts out pretty good, becomes incredible, then becomes pretty bad.

You should find all the cons the cast went to and watch their panels

I hope the serenity movie doesn't get locked under the higher tier

I laughed my ass off when you said "I'm a stick", I haven't come across anyone quoting Brandon Sanderson
