Update Feb 3: Release 9.3.3, attached below, fixes the issue with gamepad inputs filtering through to the game when the R.E.A.L. VR overlay is open.

Hey guys,

as you know the official patch for Cyberpunk 2077 (which enabled DLSS 3 and Reflex for NVIDIA cards) has broken all mods, including mine.

This is an emergency release just to restore VR functionality to the game. I still need to do some work on it, but I wanted you to have something playable in the meantime.

Before you get your hopes up (and I'm sorry, I know many of you already have): my opinion is that frame generation cannot be used in VR.

To begin with, it has the same problems as TAA or DLSS: it doesn't know about stereo rendering, so it's completely thrown off in the prediction for nearby objects.

But even thinking of using it only for mono rendering (which I don't like too much personally), there is the big problem that it happens too late in the rendering chain. Maybe that will change in the future if NVIDIA ever releases a public SDK for it, giving more control to the application, but at the moment it looks like the extra frames are being generated in the driver and not passed back to the application. So I'm unable to intercept them in order to send them to the VR headset.

That unfortunately means that frame generation will need to be turned OFF for all games in VR. RealConfig already does it automatically for CP2077, beginning from this release.

I know that's gonna be a huge disappointment for many people, but NVIDIA doesn't seem too interested in VR lately :-(

As I was mentioning above, this 9.3.2 release still needs some work. CD Projekt RED has not provided any changelog/patch notes for the update, but my tests showed that besides adding DLSS 3 and Reflex support, they changed something in the way they process gamepad inputs. That results in a new issue with the R.E.A.L. VR overlay, specifically that navigating the overlay with the gamepad will send the same commands to the game too. The code I always used to hide gamepad inputs from the game while the overlay is open no longer works properly. I will try to fix it in the next few days, but for the moment the workaround is to use your keyboard and mouse to interact with the overlay. Luckily CP2077 is one of the games where I had been able to extend the mouse coverage beyond the Windows desktop, so the overlay can be used properly with KB/M even at very high resolutions.

Sorry for not having better news for you! Let's keep our hopes up that NVIDIA will resume supporting VR, or at least expose some of the necessary functionality in an SDK so we can roll our own solution for frame generation []-D

2077 v1.6 The latest version does not apply cyberpunk vr mode?

The latest version 9.4.4 works for me in VR fine but there is no real reason to update past 9.3.3 from this post. Use 9.3.3 and make sure to run the .config file, also make sure you have run the game flat first if you are just starting out. Make sure you don't start SteamVr first or any additional software really, just run the game from your library as if you were playing flat. If you still have issues, please put your RealVR64.log file on pastebin.com and post the link here and I will take a look.

vr mod has been applied. However, when I operate the game, it does not start into the vr world, but into the normal display. The cyberpunk version I used is the latest version 1.6. Should I use Virtual Desktop instead of Oculus Link? I'm enjoying playing Final Fantasy 7 last time because you gave me advice. ^^

The latest Cyberpunk version is 9.3.3 included in this post up top. If you already have VD, give it a shot. I have not used Oculus Link in ages but VD worked pretty well when I used it with my quest 2 while comparing against my Pico 4.

Is it not entering VR for you? Don't worry about the Vsync thing, the mod is just turning it off for the game so it does not cause issues. If it is not going into VR that is most likely something else. can you put your RealVR64.log file on pastebin.com and then post the link to it here? I'll take a look. Just reply here for now unless a couple days go by and I don't reply back.

Should be in the same folder where you put the mod files. Cyberpunk/bin/x64 where the games .exe file is located. Make sure you are not starting SteamVR before starting the game and also disable steam theater in the games steam settings.

Of course there is also Air Link which worked fine for me as well. Wireless play will depend on your Router though with either software. Helps to have a good wifi 6 router and even a dedicated one just for your headset beyond that.

There seems to be a problem with the cyberpunk material. I want to add it, but there is a vr mod, but the game is so full that the developer will have a hard time too, right?

I'm sorry, I am not getting what you are trying to say. Are you trying to add in a mod for higher resolution textures or something like that?

It looks like the mod is installing so you should have the .log file in there. If you do not then something is up. I would try deleting the entire game folder and starting fresh.

How are u linking your headset to your pc? Have u tried other games and see whether the mod works?

It looks like the config file is installing so you should have a log file in the same folder as the config file. Is your GPU driver up to date? You do have SteamVR installed correct? The V-Sync thing is not the issue it is something else.

I would like to recommend an additional vr game mode to the developer, but I can't talk about it because there are too many games out right now.

If you are asking if you can recommend a game to mod, then yes, you can always do so. Of course there is never any guarantee that it will even be seriously considered but you are always welcome to throw them out there.

OK, it looks like you are installing the mod files to the correct folder Cyberpunk2077/bin/x64 from the config file so what happens exactly when you try to launch the game from your Steam library? Does the game launch? Do you get an error of some kind? And you do not get a RealVR64.log file for any of the games after installing the mod?

Again, it is not registering your GPU/headset or runtime which is super odd. Are you sure you are not running SteamVR before you launch the game? Connect your headset to your pc with Virtual Desktop or Air Link and do run any additional software like SteamVR. Make sure you have disabled Steam Theater just in case. Then, launch the game from your steam library just like you were going to play flat. Also, again, please do not post the whole log file just a link to it from pastebin.com or google drive or something like that. Does your Quest 2 show that it is connected to your pc before you run the game?

I only get a RealVR64.log file for the only game Ghostwire Tokyo installing the 7.2.0 和9.3.3 mod。 but my pc Don't enter vr ,and launch the game my Computer popup window ,prompt UE4-Mainegame has crash / FATAL ERROR。 After installing the 7.2.0 /9.31/9.3.3/9.4.4 mod ,Launch Other game didn't produce this RealVR64.log file , but other game can launch on my computer game, just do not enter the VR。 I use Other vrmods (praydog mods(re2-3-7-8))and vr game has been properly into the VR。 BUT for LUK MODS my pc Don't enter vr。Before My PC install and Normal used vorpX software。Two software have a conflict?Now My computer need to uninstall vorpX software? Just make sure Vorpx is not running at all when you launch the game. It seems like the mod is not picking up your headset or runtime for some reason so most likely some software or overlay is conflicting with it or getting in the way. Did you make sure Steam Theater is disabled for each game? Also make sure you close any type of software/overlay like Vorpx, Riva tuner, SteamVR or anything that is not a normal windows process other than Virtual Desktop or the Oculus software you have to run to have the headset active. Thank you for using pastebin, you don't have to keep posting the same log files though, I got them :) I also emailed luke the log file and asked if he has any specific idea why you are not getting log files for other games. Just to confirm for sure, you are putting all the files in the REAL folder into Cyberpunk2077/bin/x64 and then running the .config file after you have run the game normally once first correct?

hi guys, just asking to be sure :On Cyberpunk, I always have a little bit of aliasing and clipping on environments when I turn my head and haloing around objects, Ive already installed the « disable bloom and taa » mod ,playing on RTx 3080ti and I would like to be sure not to have made mistake somewhere and if normally, this mod should be almost clean as the 2d version with my configuration. Thks a lot guys!

If you disabled TAA then you are bound to have quite a bit more aliasing. If you have indeed disabled TAA then you should not have haloing around objects with AER 1. Mono is the closest to looking as clean as it would in 2d but that is because it is 2d but you are still looking at textures and things far closer than they were designed to be looked at so there will always be some issues when comparing to playing flat screen however minor. Definitely try using DLSS 2.5.1 or higher on Quality, as the haloing should not look that bad around 3000 resolution. You can try increasing the world scale to 2 to lessen the haloing more but it will make things larger up close the further you go up and also you are moving towards monoscopic the higher you go.

Ive already put DLSS on quality, I follow steps on YouTube ´s configs for VR mod to have decents results and it was ! but For example , ive had a lot more haloing before install disable bloom mod , (in hogwarts legacy , theres much more haloing for sure ..hope to find solution on nexusmod one day..)its okay now on CP77 but still present ,when I talk to characters , i can still clearly see haloing around them,but its disapears when I move to see characters from another angle.. Just asked because I was wondering if some people have graphics issues even on RTX 4090, or a very very clear rendering..

OOOH, disable the extra facial lighting in the settings. That should hopefully take care of the "bloom" around the characters. Are you using DLSS 2.5.1? It seems to be the best so far at mitigating haloing and ghosting.

I can’t find on graphics options of the game DLSS 2.5.1… But ive found like some guys said here, once DLSS is completely off ,haloing on characters almost disappears… And i can’t see a really big diffrence on textures and general rendering when DLSS is on quality.. (except haloing much more present with DLSS on !)

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/ The link above has versions of dlss that you can download and then replace manually in the game folder. I think Cyberpunk has the file where the games .exe is, the same place you put the mod files. You can also look up DLSS Swapper if you want to download software that allows you to swap out DLSS versions in your games easily but you have to manually download their certificate so at your own risk, It works really well and I haven't had any issues though.

It will work better comparatively I guess, but it just looks better overall even if I lower the resolution a couple steps. It looks around the same as it did before they messed things up further in a previous update and back then I had a 3080ti (still a high end card I know) but I could still get things looking pretty decent. The major difference now is that I can also turn almost everything up to high as well :) DLSS 3 does not look as good even on a 4090 for instance. At least 3.1.1 and 3.1.1 v2. But of course if you have the ability to pick up extra shifts for a month or two(that is what I did) and grab a 4090, the experience will be that much better.

I turned almost everything ip on high in my 3080 and one thing continue to disturb me:Aliasing and haloing.. (Aliasing is much more present when I turn Dlss On, but a have more haloing when Dlss is off... I think I can't have both...)

Haloing is a product of AER and TAA so as long as TAA is in the mix somewhere you will have some haloing. DLSS TAA is not the same implementation as the regular game TAA so it could be better or worse depending on the game and DLSS version. For Cyberpunk DLSS 2.5.1 seems to have the least amount of haloing on Quality out of the newer versions (still have not tried 3.1.1 v3) Higher resolution will mitigate haloing and aliasing to some degree. You will have to experiment depending on the game. There is also the option of increasing world scale but it will make things larger of course. You will also loose depth the higher you go. I wouldn't recommend going past 2x as if you are going higher to get rid of haloing it probably makes more sense just to play in Mono. Resolution will have the biggest impact so turning down settings or using performance mods from Nexus or anything of that nature, also DLSS, to get to get up to around the 2700-3000 resolution mark is worth a shot.

Ive not try dlss 2.5.1 yet, ive read some comments saying it worst for some people, and im affraid to test it because of settings changes and not get my first config again..I had a lot of time on it to reach a great rending. Its frustrating because im affraid to test new config ,but in same time im really curious because this DLSS can bring me better results..And MONO mod is a kind of « Old VR » for me… Just a 360 degreepoint of view with no 3D effect… like 360 videos on Youtube, no 3D for me means no real VR.

I forgot to ask you : how to enable DLSS 2.5.1 ? Ive downloaded it ,installed it on cyberpunk bin, 64 folder , replaced original file, but how to know the new one is working ? Do i just choose DLSS quality option on graphics settings ? Or it’s located on VR overlay at the launch of the game ?

You just choose DLSS Quality as usual. Feel free to try out other versions but one giant way to tell is to aim with a gun and you will be able to see how much haloing there is around your characters hands. I don't much of anything with 2.5.1 compared to any of the other latest versions. Of course that is at higher resolutions.

Is it possible to headlock the hud. I want to turn with my head/body and not with the controller stick. Is this possible?

The HUD should be headlocked by default but perhaps not to that degree. There is actually an option to unlock the HUD from your head in the overlay. So I guess the answer is probably no but I am not sure as I haven't tried moving around to that degree. Is the HUD just not following you at all?

I tried it yesterday and it was completely locked for me even when turning my body/head around. What headset are you using and how is it connected to your PC? I don't remember it being any different with my Q2 or Pico though(Used G2). Not sure if there are any settings in game that would alter that. You did not uncheck the headlock option in the REAL overlay right?

have not answered because I have been away but I have not been able to make it work well I have installed the mod as it says in the video below and nothing is working well and suddenly the image crashes and takes me out of the game and the performance goes Everything is fine, it's as if there was a buck when I take things or go through some areas and there is not a day that I play for more than 15 minutes without it going to hell

I cant tell what my FPS are in game right now but for some reason the in game benchmark is locked at 60fps...any ideas?

If you are using 1/3 in the REAL overlay (AER2) then it will lock you to 60 if your headset is set at 90hz. Switch to 1/2 or Legacy. Legacy will give better performance at higher res but will feel less smooth than the other 2 options at lower resolution. With AER2 the GPU has to produce extra frames so carries overhead. Make sure you can maintain solid 60 for 1/3 or 90 for 1/2 for that 120hz feel. I usually use Legacy at 90fps because I prioritize resolution and visuals and the bit of motion jitter doesn't bother me at all. how well does this mod work with mods from say the nexus?

Just depends on the mod really. I use extra mods from nexus pretty regularly and don't run into many issues. Of course if you are using something that is related to the camera that could cause conflicts or anything that replaces a similar file like dxgi.dll that REAL uses.
