Hi guys!

Release 9.3.1, which you can find attached at the end of this post, comes with as much performance improvement as I was able to squeeze from my frame interpolation tech. It's not a lot (about 10% at higher resolutions) but I believe that I'm getting close to the Pareto front, so I don't really want to spend an inordinate amount of development time on this just to shave off, say, another 2-3% or so.

The performance gain may vary of course, depending on your system and the game you're playing, but it should be apparent on all previously supported games (namely Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Grounded, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales).

With this release, I'm also extending the technology to one of the games that was more in need of it: Elden Ring. Fret not, CP2077 will come too ;-)

If you were already using an older version of the mod with Elden Ring, remember to run RealConfig after extracting the updated release! Also, I strongly advise having RealConfig (D)elete your old .ini settings, in order to prevent possible issues due to leftover settings from older versions.

Speaking of Elden Ring: on my system (Core i9-9900K and RTX 4090) I can get a perfectly stable 60 fps at "1/3 rate" using the Ultra preset, up to 3472x3472. The top resolution is out of reach even for the 4090 in Ultra quality.

On the other hand, since Elden Ring is awfully CPU-limited, given that most of its processing happens on a single thread (!), I can't get 90 fps in AER v2 no matter how low I go with the graphics settings, because (on my CPU at least) outdoors areas can never maintain 90 fps. So I made 1/3 rate the default setting, also for the 4 presets in the Quick Menu.

If for some reason you should want to toggle from "1/3 rate" to "1/2 rate" on the fly, for instance because the engine deals with indoors areas much better and you like to play them at 90 fps instead of 60, please remember that the Quick Menu is the easiest and quickest way to switch render modes, either directly or using the 4 presets which are fully customizable.

Hope this will work for you without issues, and stay tuned because more games will be updated soon!!!

so is 9.3.1 supporting AER2 for both Spiderman games?

Anonymous

Exciting!

Anonymous

I'm yet to try it in VR, looks like it's time 😁

Anonymous

9900k? We need for you to get an updated CPU mate lol. You might as well be on a RTX 3080 with that thing

Anonymous

Thank a lot! The display (quest pro) is a bit to bright and the ingame brightnes adjustment seems not to work. Do you have a solution to get it a bit darker?

Anonymous

Arise ye Tarnished! AER2!!!! <3 <3

Anonymous

Thanks for your work on this Luke. I'm new to VR and I keep coming back to Elden Ring over any other VR game I've bought. I'm really noticing an improvement in the visuals with this update. One thing I found was that I have much higher latency when using 1/3 than 1/2. Is that normal?

Anonymous

Hi Luke, do we still have to manual set pixel in spiderman? And also is the Xbox controller bug fixed?🙇🏻‍♂️

Anonymous

Maybe try a program like Bitsum Process Lasso to render using just one or two threads? I have also found using a program called RamCache III has helped me massively. You can set it to on/off for just the drive you are playing your game from. So if your game runs on F drive for example, start it for that drive by just highlighting it and pressing start. My games have definitely gained FPS, especially CP.

Brandon(Post Maester)

There is an issue with HDR monitors in Elden Ring, I don't think it has been fixed yet. I know he has found the core issue and I think he is still working on it.

Anonymous

Wow this works super good. Everything is soooo smooth. Sadly...the HDR monitor issue keeps me from using it, as everything is super bright again. :(

Brandon(Post Maester)

Unfortunately, you will still need to manually adjust the res for Spidey games. The games do not offer the ability to add in resolutions for Luke, so will probably be a thing long term. What kind of bug are you having with the controller? Have you tried disabling steam input or switching to default settings?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hmmm. thanks for passing that on, I will have to check them out. What kind of fps gain do you get having it on?

Anonymous

I tried everything together with Luke. Just had hoped it got fixed somehow in this version. Since I don't own a non HDR monitor I need to use one of the 8.x.x versions for a normal picture again. Reshade doesn't compensate enough as HDR makes the colors and "lighting" total off. Funny thing I don't even use HDR at all as I never liked the picture when on. So HDR is off on every level. Windows, Nvidia, Ingame but somehow the game turns it on internally for now reason when using version 9.x.x. The HDR option is even off and greyed out. At this point I have no clue how I force the game NOT using HDR.

Anonymous

I can now finish my second play through of Elden Ring! Awesome work Luke!

Brandon(Post Maester)

One cheap fix could be to grab a headless ghost or HDMI dummy plug from Amazon. Have you tried disconnecting the monitor and just using the HMD? Spending money to fix it obviously sucks but I have actually had a few occasions where it has helped me to have one laying around.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I will have to finish my first playthrough one of these days :) I love all the other DS games but I have trouble keeping motivated to play this one. I think its because it amplifies the issue of exploring for hours but getting nothing that is really that useful to me. I had been playing with the same weapon and armor for like 20 hours after finding all kinds of stuff. Like after getting the ring that protects against fall damage I thought it would open up some easier exploring but it did not really allow me to fall much further if at all before dying.

Anonymous

I just borrowed the monitor from my brother which has no HDR and as already tested by a different person, there it works. Unplugging the monitors isn't really an option as I often record gameplay so I need at least on monitor.

Anonymous

Before buying the dummy plug, borrow your brother's monitor again and have it plugged in along with your own HDR monitor. In Windows, disconnect the HDR monitor. If this allows you to play ER without the HDR issue, consider getting the dummy plug and simply disconnect the monitor when playing VR-ER.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I just asked Luke and he said no ETA on a fix for this. He will probably have to buy an HDR monitor so he can reproduce it for himself. This probably won't do anything but I'll throw it out there just in case. Have you tried switching to a non HDR color profile if possible?

Anonymous

Tip for way better immersion into Elden Ring: In RealVR ingame settings, go to Elden Ring tab and set World Scale to 1.25. That way characters will appear in real world size and everything looks more realistic. The original Elden Ring World Scale is smaller than the real world.

Anonymous

Hey Luke. It is possible Dead Space Remake or The Original play in VR, with the R E A L mod. Mind Blowing. Thank you for all the great Mod's. Great.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Just started playing yesterday, pretty dang good so far! First person VR would be awesome but well have to wait and see.

Anonymous

So... is it possible to use the mod with other games even if the mod is not made for them? What is the criteria?

Brandon(Post Maester)

No, only works with supported titles. It is a lot of work to mod each one specifically. Each release should work with each supported title though. I am just playing flat. I was using Superdepth3d but it has issues at the moment.

Anonymous

No it is not possible to use the mod on games that Luke has not worked on.

Anonymous

I tried using both monitors and setting the non HDR one as my main screen. Game will load on the non HDR monitor but it still gives the gamma issue. Only physically disconnecting the HDR one solves the issue. I read somewhere it might be a bug introduced in v1.08 of Elden Ring. It is just odd that thise gamma issue does not occure on the older 8.x.x versions of the mod and only if I use any of the new 9.x.x ones. And I don't know where and how to switch to a non HDR color profile. Found the color management but there are no profiles listed, even adding a random one ends in the same result ingame. No chance at all.

Anonymous

I've just tested AER2 functionality for the first time (in Elden Ring), and I must say that your mod has gone from amazing to absolutely essential. You and your mod are killing it!, please keep up the great job!!!

Anonymous

May I adjust to other resolutions? why by default the game is set as window and not fullscreen? may I try modifying these settings manually or just leave them as it is?

Anonymous

In Luke’s note for the spiderman patch he mentioned that the game is best played with a dual shock controller linked to the pc, and said that unfortunately there was a bug using Xbox controller.. did I understand that incorrectly ?

Anonymous

Hello. I tried to use the mod with Elden Ring but it doesn't start vr mode. Maybe I should do something else, apart from installing the mod, as I did in cyberpunk 2077 and horizon zero? My game is version 1.08.1

Brandon(Post Maester)

The mod should add resolutions in the game settings for Elden Ring. You can change it there. Full screen will have a negative effect on game textures for some games. Depending on what resolution you are playing at, the game window may be bigger than your screen. The mod most likely will not even allow you to switch to full screen and work properly.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Lets start with the basics. Did you put the files in the EldenRing/Game folder and run the config file? Did you run the game flat first? Make sure you are not opening SteamVR before launching. Also make sure Steam Theater is disabled. If all those are covered, you can put your RealVR64.log file on Pastebin and then post the link here and I will take a look.

Anonymous

Thanks for your prompt response but I already found the problem... The game has to start with "start_protected game.exe and I was starting it with Eldering.exe. Matter fixed.

Anonymous

Facebook reality Labs almost died trying to reach the pareto front XD

Anonymous

Has anyone had issues with the Reverb G2 and Spiderman? It was working fine on my pico 4 but trying it with the G2 it just does the loading screen like it's going to load a game but then goes back to the cliff house immediately. Other openxr apps work so it's not that the runtime isn't set right.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I can switch between the two fine. Just make sure you set WMR as your OpenXR runtime. It should prompt the change when the WMR software starts up on your monitor. Just hit the fix it button.

Anonymous

Yes as I said, I did set the runtime to WMR and other Openxr apps work on the G2, even RDR2 worked with the old Luke Ross mod. So it's working right now with the latest 9.3.1 on Spiderman on the G2 for you?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I haven't tried the newest one, I'll update and try now. Yeah, works fine for me. Did you delete the ini settings when you ran the new config file? If that doesn't work, you can put your RealVR64.log file on Pastebin and post the link here, I will take a look.

Anonymous

Hello again!. Now I am testing with FFVII and when I run the.bat I get the message "ERROR: This folder does not seem to belong to any of the supported games. Please make sure that the mod zip file is extracted to the same folder where the main executable of the game is located, and not for example in a subfolder". I understand that I correctly put the mod in the main folder where the ff7remake.exe file is. Correct?

Anonymous

I already answer myself. The mod files must be put in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade\End\Binaries\Win64. I do not know if this information is written somewhere Patreon is not that it is the most suitable website to hcer searches for something that was written in particular. :S

Anonymous

If there are occasional screen stutters where many objects appear in the game, is it a CPU problem?

Anonymous

Same issue here (game v 1.07), never happened with previos mod version. It's ok in the main menu, washed out after level is loaded. But I can confirm that workaround connecting non-HDR monitor is working for me. But not everyone has two displays to fiddle with :) Anyway, I believe that Luke can fix it though.

Anonymous

Thanks for extending AER v2 to Elden Ring eventually! I must say it's more pleasant for my eyes now, even with 1/3 rate. A bit of artefacts but it's I was expecting some in early stage of new tech. Just a bit sad that even my 4090 cant produce 90 FPS in open areas with AER2. But I am also aware that windows mixed reality is not the best optimized VR platform though...

Brandon(Post Maester)

Elden Ring is more cpu limited so probably. Give your cpu as much performance room as possible by not running any extra software while playing as well as setting the game to high priority in the task manager. You can also lower some settings like grass that don't make much difference. Some people have found the following link helpful but I personally have not tried it. https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/elden-ring-new-patch-stuttering-how-to-fix/

Brandon(Post Maester)

What kind of cpu are you running? I have a 7800x and I can play at the 3088x3088 on 1/2 in the open world by turning down most settings to medium, some like grass on low. I leave shaders up all the way. Textures you might want to stay high as well. I do have an undervolt that gives me better performance than stock but nothing major, mostly just better temps so no throttling. I have not played for more than an hour at a time while testing so I could potentially have some dips in some places but I'm pretty sure I could just drop down a notch on res and have solid 1/2 performance there. Oh, I also put AA on low as high is just too blurry for me personally. This will make artifacting more noticeable but 1/2 has much less artifacting than 1/3 for me. I am using a g2 so WMR as well.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yes, I had issues using an Xbox controller but was able to fix by switching steam controller settings to default settings instead of Steam input. It would crash the game otherwise.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Probably so in the future here but dummy plugs are super cheap and good to have around. They do not allow screen capturing though so that is a bummer.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yes, it is in the FF release post. Also stated in the Start Here post and general instructions. Always have to put the mod files where the games actual .exe is located. If there is a .exe file that is very small you are in the wrong location, the main one will be larger. Thanks for checking though :)

Anonymous

Hello. CPU is i13700k. All maxed out. I was happy having 85-90 fps even outside with legacy AER but now with AER2 it's 70-90 with 1/2 rate, mostly 60 at 1/3 rate. Resolution 27xx x 27xx (dont know exactly).

Lkyshot

I kept attempting to use this version for CP2077 and realized you already said it is not included yet. Looking forward to seeing how the RTX 4080 does. Thank you for all the awesome being translated from your hard work!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Did you turn settings down? 1/3 should be 60 fps solid but feel like 120. Did you try turning down some of the settings?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Try turning most things to medium or low. If you are playing with AA on high, you will find that having shadows and stuff on high really doesn't benefit the visuals as they are not very visible or sharp in the distance anyways. If you can't notice much of a difference when lowering them then they are probably not worth keeping up. Even going down to medium on textures you mainly loose small parts of trees and things that are probably not sharp in the distance anyways. Of course you will have to see what works for you but I would rather have mostly solid performance at 1/2 with lower settings and decent res. It could also just be the areas we are in as well. I was running around in the magic academy area mostly. If 1/3 feels good for you, then honestly don't worry about it and just enjoy the game :)

Anonymous

thanks for the nice answer Is there a way to optimize the graphics when viewing the vr world when the game is running, other than the game options?

Anonymous

Spiderman doesn't enter vr anymore with this version... What can I do.. All I did was overwrite the old files with this version

Anonymous

Anonymous

Try to run realconfig, choose delete and then choose desired preset. That should do the new setup.

Anonymous

I did the first 2 steps. The game starts in flat... The Button start vr does nothing

Brandon(Post Maester)

Not really for Elden Ring that I know of. Can't say for sure though, I know there is a set of texture packs on Nexus Mods, the 2k ones may improve visuals quite a bit. I wouldn't go for 4k on things as 4k textures can get pretty shimmery but maybe on large textures. I don't know how much of a performance hit they will bring though.

Anonymous

Can somebody help me here? I installed Horizon Zero Dawn and have applied Luke's mod. The first time I saw in the mod's logs a message saying that "this version of REAL is not compatible with your nvidia drivers". So I downloaded the latest nvidia drivers, installed and re-run Horizon. I didn't see that log this time, but no matter what I can't switch to 1st person view, and I see the game in flat mode and not 3d. I have a Asus with AMD Ryzen 9 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - 1TB SSD.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi Alejo, make sure you are launching the game from your library as if playing flat. Do not start SteamVR before launching. Also, if you could put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on Pastebin and post the link here I will take a look.

Anonymous

CP2077 just got support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 and NVIDIA Reflex :) I hope you succeed LUKE. the force is strong in you...

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, I just verified file integrity and redownloading some files so I can test it. Mods might be broken but will at least see if frame generation works with REAL or not. May be the same case as Spiderman but lets hope not.

Anonymous

I have an 5950x and rtx 4090 with Elden Ring installed on an m.2 and I can get a solid 90 at 3400x 3400 at 1/2 aer2 on my valve index with 150% super sampling. I can almost maintain 120fps, but I get frame drops so I perfer 90fps. Maybe my cpu is the difference. 16 core 32 threads. I also have smart memory access enabled. Max in-game settings also.

Anonymous

Lucky you! Well I am runnng reverb g2 which sucks in terms of performance in general due to windows mixed reality poor optimization.

Anonymous

Currently, the LukeRoss mod does not work anymore with 1.61. The overlay does not show up and I cannot switch to VR. Fixing the mod for CB2077 should have priority now.

Anonymous

Elden Ring barely benefits from more cores as it's single theread oriented. Where are you getting 120 fps info from?

Anonymous

im waiting aswell :), dlss 3 runs just fine, but without VR its meh right now, gogo Luke, get it done bro ! ;D

Anonymous

The Valve Index can run games at 80fps 90fps 120fps, and 144fps. The difference between 90fps and 120fps doesnt seem that different in Lukes mods.

Anonymous

Just updated CP2077 and was so sad when the VR didn't work. I am so ready for this!

Anonymous

Luke, what VR headset did you use to test Elden Ring with AER2? Thanks.

George Hayduke

reading the posts here, I'm glad I'm not the only one that was not able to run CP2077 after todays patch to 1.61

Anonymous

same issue here, it only launches as a flat game. Should I try the previous version?

D S

Dang it! Anyone else try 1.61 with dlss3?

Anonymous

Same only launches as flat game after 1.61

Brandon(Post Maester)

I know he has Quest 2 and G2 but not sure if that is what he used. I suspect he has an Index as well. My guess is he at least tried it on the Q2 as its the most commonly used.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Luke is currently working on it but the Interposer file is hard coded into the game unlike Spiderman so simply renaming it will not work. No ETA for a fix yet. For now you will have to roll back to the previous version and not update to play. Hopefully it's a relatively easy fix.

Anonymous

Did Spiderman have an update too? Can anyone still run it. It says it is not supported when i try to start it

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you want to play Cyberpunk until Luke is able to release a fix here are some instruction for downgrading to a previous release. You will have to have room somewhere for the complete game install but this ensures that you can just move the downgraded files over when Steam updates. Also I believe you have to use the games .exe file to launch the game instead of from your library. Not sure on that one though. https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-downgrade-steam-games/

Anonymous

Have you looked at my video that I send you? What could be the error that it is now not supported? I also send my reallog..

Anonymous

U tha mandom Brandon

Lkyshot

This would remove the new DLSS update. The 4080 looked good on the old version but I'm hoping to gain a little performance and quality after Luke's able to mesh them. Great info nonetheless, bookmarking now!

Moist Man

No clue what happened but since i moved the files over in order to update, spider-man remastered no longer lets me start VR. It works in fullscreen but then i am unable to adapt resolution so it isnt pixelated. i switch to windowed and it just kicks me out of VR and doesnt allow me to re-enable. i have uninstalled the game, reinstalled it along with the mod, and still it is no longer functional. even going back to the old version of the mod didnt assist. ); any tips are appreciated!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Other than renaming the sl.interposer.dll file it will most likely come down to something setting/limiting your resolution in windowed mode. Are you using Virtual Desktop? If so uncheck the Use Optimal Resolution box in VD settings. Check what resolution the launcher gives you under the window option. Make sure to set it to your monitors native resolution. Make sure you have DSR turned off in Nvidia control panel and that your monitor is set to at least 1080p. If that doesn't work, also try disabling Steam Input as that can cause it to crash or not start in VR possibly as well.

D S

Anyone else here on Pimax? If so, have you tried the openXR output with PimaXR? I should think it would allow performance increase, but I get a shaky image in one eye only...

Moist Man

I have done all of that and still nothing. It is so peculiar because it was working fine prior. Thank you very much for the info tho!

Brandon(Post Maester)

can you put your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link here? I will see if I can find some common link that is keeping a few of you from getting it working.

Anonymous

Cannot get Cyberpunk to start in VR anymore (it did mod the resolutions). I tried this and the 8_3_0 version. Am I missing something or is this due to the DLSS3 hotfix from yesterday?

Anonymous

Me too. The mod doesn't load with the CP2077. It is stuck in some weird zoomed in view when I try to play it on VD. I just downloaded the recent CP2077 update too.

Anonymous

just joined the patreon i need major help downloading these games and getting them running plz help

Brandon(Post Maester)

There should be instructions in the Start Here post https://www.patreon.com/posts/start-here-68859691 Follow them carefully and then ask if you have any issues beyond that. Welcome to the Patreon Frank :)

Anonymous

i had started with that im really new to all of this pretty much i have a pc that will deff run it all but i dont know how to install the zip files and extract or w.e and then open the games to the quest i feel so lost

Brandon(Post Maester)

How are you connecting to your PC with the Quest? Air Link, Virtual Desktop or Cable? I use 7-zip myself to unzip the files. I can usually just double click the zipped file and drag the files inside over though without unzipping directly.

Anonymous

cable, and i downloaded 7 zip but im so lost, i feel like such an idiot, i wish there was a decent youtube video showing how to do this

Brandon(Post Maester)

Don't be so hard on yourself, getting into PCVR is a lot of learning. My first year I made a lot of mistakes and had to spend a lot of time figuring things out. You can try this video but It does not help with connecting your headset. It goes over installing the mod for Cyberpunk and then his recommended settings for it which I don't particularly agree with all the way but that is a matter of preference. https://www.patreon.com/posts/performance-and-73295810

Brandon(Post Maester)

Here is a vid on Link basic setup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP2ejWBDnHw Also, you should join the Flat2VR discord server as it can be a good place to learn about PCVR mods and get help.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You are having the same issue as Max, in the game launcher, select full screen and then change the resolution there to your monitors native res. Hopefully it is at least 1080p. Then, switch back to window in the launcher. You also have the same Isteamcontroller issue so disabling Steam Input or switching to use default settings in Steam controller settings may help. If you still get kicked out, check to see if something has reset the resolution value in the launcher again.

Moist Man

I will try it once i get out of work but thank you for the prompt assistance every time there seems to be a hiccup! You seriously exceed expectations every time in that regard so i really do appreciate it and im sure others do as well.

Moist Man

That worked! so it seems to be a spidey filled weekend after all (: thank you again

Anonymous

I have a issue with Elden Ring after version 8.4.0. Game looks washed out. Like brightness was set to 200%. I have Valve Index with RTX 4090 and 7700X. 9.3.3 -> https://imgur.com/vNO8lqL 8.4.0 -> https://imgur.com/AFvjwB6 Game ver is 1.08.1 Nvidia drivers 528.24 Anybody else have this problem?

Anonymous

Still using a good old i7 4790k but with GPU once upgraded to a RTX 2080 Ti my system is tending to be limited by CPU and not GPU. So I'm wondering how are expectations for AER v2 with this? Will AER v2 demand additional CPU power or is it mainly working on GPU level?

Brandon(Post Maester)

It an issue with HDR monitors even if you turn off HDR in all settings it will still persist. Luke was looking into it but can't fix without buying an HDR monitor. No ETA on that so the easiest solution if you do not have a non-HDR monitor is probably to buy an HDMI dummy plug or headless ghost to use. Spending money to fix a bug sucks but they can be handy to have around. For instance if your wife is really clumsy and breaks your monitor, you have an easy backup for VR until you replace it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Not 100% on that but I would think it is much more GPU intensive than CPU. Luke specifically notes that your GPU will need extra headroom for generating the extra frames but no mention of CPU headroom so I wouldn't think it will be much of a factor.

Anonymous

I had this issue before the update. If you install a reshade mod, you can get it looking normal.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Cool! Any particular one or just using Reshade in general. The last person that had this issue said Reshade barely made a difference.

Anonymous

Here is the reshade mod I used: https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/9 You can configure the reshade mod in the R.E.A.L. VR config menu, so it kind of feels like an official fix. Just installing it doesn't change anything, you have to go in and check the different options, then adjust the sliders. This one has a little bit of an fps cost (I have a 4090 as well with a 13900k, I lose between 3 and 10 fps depending on what reshade options I use). All you need to adjust is the levels setting to get it to look normal, but the clarity setting makes backgrounds pop pretty well. There are other reshades that claim no fps cost, so it might be worth trying those.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Sounds like just basic reshade use, so no need for a heavy preset really. Levels has a very small impact. You could probably just go with a darker LUT for no performance cost.

Anonymous

I have a 3070 (Windows 11), but it won't go into VR. All my drivers are up-to-date. I followed all the instructions to the letter, even did the DLL trick. No luck, though. What am I missing? I already changed the settings of the game to your recommendations. Using the Quest 2 with a link cable. Never had these issues with your other mods. EDIT: Tried some more things, but just can't make it work. The screen in my headset goes black instead of showing the game in flat (it's progress I guess), but the game keeps rendering like normal on my monitor and I don't see anything in my headset. Also, the mod-overlay doesn't show up ingame. So I guess something is failing.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hi Danny, can you put your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and then post the link here and I will take a look.

Anonymous

Sorry! Wrong thread, should be under the Hogwarts one :-) Also, where can I find this log file? It's not in the folder where I put the mod-files.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Then double check that you have the files in the right folder. Should be HogwartsLegacy/Phoenix/Binaries/Win64 Also if you had Resahade installed before, try deleting all those files. The game was not starting for me first go around but I deleted the dxgi file and other reshade files then it worked fine after install.

Anonymous

Yeah I’m a retard, sorry! All working now :-)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Please use the reply button to keep things organized. Ha, no worries I still forget to run the config file when updating sometimes ;)

Anonymous

Looks I have a problem here with ER - the "compass" in the top middle is flickering the whole time, as if superimposed with some distance. Same goes for some healthbars. Pimax 8kx and 4090. Think this occurs since the aer v2 version, but can only assume, didnt play for a few releases x)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Hmmm, I seem to remember someone mentioning issues with the newest release of pimax software and they had to roll back to a previous version in Discord. Not sure if it was related to this issue or not. I don't have Pimax so am not very familiar with it. Are you using parallel projection?

Anonymous

I rolled back to an older version, got rid of the HDR bug and the superimposing. Tbh, the 1/2 and 1/3 feels weird to me, so I am fine with just playing on AER around 50-60 fps

Brandon(Post Maester)

Glad it worked! If you are playing Elden Ring, 1/2 is pretty hard to get solid 90 on out in the open world with high Res. 50-60 seems like you would have a lot of motion jitter and stutters though with Legacy. Hopefully they still add in DLSS support for that game.

Anonymous

When I play eldenring, the fps is super low when I use AERV2 mode and the characters have ghosting when I rotate the camera. I am on 3090 and piamx 8kplus

The latest pimax software has issues so I have heard from a couple users now. You should try rolling back to the previous version but if you are playing on 1/3 there is more motion "ghosting" for me as well. I would either go lower settings and Res and aim for 1/2 which is hard because of the cpu bottleneck of the open world or go Legacy if you are really sensitive to it like I am.

I am using a very early version of pimax software. Because the new software can't remove the left and right black lines on the hub, I haven't updated the pimax software for a long time. I'm surprised that my helmet is 90HZ, and the indoor fps of Legacy mode is 90. I can reach 90fps in 1/2, but only about 60. The fps of v2 is not as high as Legacy

Brandon(Post Maester)

Right, AER2 requires more GPU headroom because it is creating extra frames that AER1 is not so that is normal. I still use Legacy or Mono(on Pico4) mostly myself. Have you tried lowering game settings to increase performance?

Anonymous

OH〜YA! Thank you so much LukeRoss!

Anonymous

Yes, I've got most of the game settings down to a minimum. But I can't turn down the resolution, it's too low and the screen is full of flicker, so I have 3000*3000 resolution

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am not very familiar with Pimax as I have never used one but you are running parallel projection right? You may actually want to try updating your Pimax software but not the latest one. It is probably a good idea to hit the Flat2VR Discord and ask there. Hopefully someone with a Pimax will have some advice that helps.

Sorry, I'm new to this. I read in the original post that I should be able to use the latest version for all games. Can I use the 9.4.4 version I grabbed (for Hogwarts Legacy, works awesome) for Elden ring, or do I use this version instead?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yes, you should be able to use the latest version for any of the past supported games. The only problem with using the latest version (anything 9.4) is that is an early/rough release and does not have a config file that will set base game settings and resolution to start out with. As there is no real advantage over using 9.3.3 for Cyberpunk but it also has the config file, I would go with that for Cyberpunk. 9.3.1 at the top of this post should also be entirely up to date for Elden Ring or anything else besides Cyberpunk or Hogwarts. Hope that makes sense.

Hey there, Im pretty new, I get a error in terminal: " ''WHERE' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. ********************************** * R.E.A.L. VR mod for Elden Ring * ********************************** 'CHOICE' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Aborting RealConfig Press any key to continue . . ." Can anyone help me out? I tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling, didnt work :/

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is really odd. You have installed all the mod files from the Real folder into the location of the Elden Ring .exe correct? EldenRing/Game folder?

Anonymous

Thanks for responding! yes I have I extract all files to my folder C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game I tried it with current and past versions. I also let the game run and made a profile.

Anonymous

Fixed it, I looked up the "WHERE" error and on youtube I saw a guy add a path in Eviroment Variables. Did that and boom it worked, Thanks again

Ryan King

How do you install ANY of these I put it in the root directory and run the batch file pick my U.H,M, or L and run the game I have Vorpx and an oculus quest 2 but I don't get any different result from running it normally

Brandon(Post Maester)

is the batch file installing without any errors? Do not have Vorpx active at all while using this mod. Make sure you are installing the mod files where the games actual .exe is located but that should be pretty straight forward for Elden Ring(guessing that is what you are trying?) You do not want any overlays or unnecessary gaming/VR software running when you start the game to avoid conflicts and then you can try things after having a working baseline. If you are getting a RealVR64.log file you can put it on pastebin and post the link here and I will take a look.

Hello, today (20230701) steam upgrade the game so the game AH crashed on startup with 10.0.0.4

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am on Vacation for a couple days and forgot to bring my headset :(, so I can't test. Worst case, you can downgrade the game for now. Will post a link for Cyberpunk downgrade but process is the same really, just have to look up the numbers for AH. Can you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin or some equivalent and post a link to it here please? That way I get take a look and see if some of the patches are not working. Since the DLC is coming next month, there may be more patches released along the way breaking things. May be good to have a downgraded copy on hand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5H-Lef0YS0

Hey, sorry if that's been asked before. When I'm playing in first person mode, I see the character eyes floating in front of me sometimes on some movements, like the camera is just a little bit too much behind. Is there a setting in the UI to move said camera a bit? Also if there's like a ReadMe file that explains all the different settings that'd be the best

Brandon(Post Maester)

There should be options to adjust the camera distance in the first window that opens when you bring up the REAL overlay. Where you pick what camera you are using if you are playing Elden Ring. You should be able to adjust each preset to your liking.

I have an rtx4080 and i-7 13700k. I see some inconvenience when rolling in 3rd person, and with enemies on fast movements. It looks like the 2 images are not at sync. It definitely comes from the stereoscopic nature of the mod. Using the 1/2 cap improves it over the 1/3, but it's still there. I tried lowering to H from U but didn't see an improvement. Is there a way to nullify it completely?

Brandon(Post Maester)

1/2 will definitely have less artifacting from the motion smoothing/ extra generated frames because it is generating less extra frames. Most importantly, make sure you are getting solid 90 fps at 1/2 (if your headset is set to 90hz) or solid 60 at 1/3. It will also depend on the game and your own sensitivity. I am assuming we are talking Elden Ring :) You can also give Legacy AER a shot which will have less GPU overhead and allow for higher resolution but is not as smooth, all things being ideal. There is also the option of lowering the HZ on your headset to set the target fps of 1/2 a bit lower as well. Not the best option but there is also Mono which eleminates stereoscopic 3d but looks the best in terms of picture quality. If you have something like the Pico 4 which has 2 lenses instead of one screen this will create some 3d effect. Not the same either way but it's there. Motion Smoothing can create artifacts even on flat games, same with things like Nvidias frame gen. I get the same kind of artifacts to a degree in FF16 on PS5 when rotating around my character. As with almost everything, any imperfections or issues like this will be way more visible up close in VR and even more so when looking at 2 views put together instead of just one.

I'm a new patron, just wanted to say I played Elden Ring start to finish in VR, in first person, and it was amazing. I have been curious about one thing, I used to play 3D a lot back before Nvidia abandoned it, and there was a depth setting to give the game a greater 3D effect. Is that something that can be done in VR?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Welcome to the Patreon Cereal! Not really the same in Luke's mods. If you were using something like SuperDepth3d or even Vorpx then yes they have settings for depth. The big difference is that Luke is not using an immersive screen but an in game camera so you are actually in the game instead of zoomed in. You can eliminate the 3d effect by playing in mono or decrease by increasing world scale but you are already seeing things from the perspective of two eyes at full depth using AER.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Textures will depend on VRAM and I don't know what Benjos textures are but I am guessing it is probably a pack on Nexus? I have used 4k and 2k textures for the game that were released quite a while ago and worked fine for me on a 4090. 16GB should be fine to add in a texture pack but VR does use more VRAM than flat. Elden ring will be CPU limited especially out in the open world so that will come into play as well. On a 5800x I think I was able to play on 32xxX32xx (can't remember the last numbers) with custom settings. I had things like Textures on high but turned down other stuff to medium or low depending on how it looked. Really too bad this game doesn't have DLSS as it could really use it. Hopefully when the DLC drops they will add it in. If you have a newer processor paired with the 4080 you should be able to have a pretty solid experience. Just don't be afraid to turn down some settings in favor of higher resolution as that will be the biggest factor in visual quality/clarity. I also recommend turning down the TAA to medium or low if you are pushing higher resolution but that will be up to personal preference. Makes things less blurry in the distance.

Jason Crawford

can this be combined with the DLSS mod?

still waiting for a reply if this site is legit and i just wasted my money as a member and also the web page is is absolute shit to find how to find the mods or get replies all i can say is Pathetic

Brandon(Post Maester)

Patreon is not ideal as a platform I would say but it's not that hard to figure out how to get the mod either really. It organizes by the latest posts which should contain the most up to date versions of the mod. Plus, the comments sections are pretty active so no reason you shouldn't think you could ask questions there as people do and get replies frequently. Have you posted a specific question or help request? Details are always helpful :)

Thank you for the explanation of the different modes. Is there a more in depth version of this explanation on the Patreon or elsewhere? I am also looking for an explanation of the INI settings so I can tweak my game. It seems there are more setting to change in the INI than in the in-game GUI.
