The Seven Year Retrospective: Honourable Mentions (Captions) (Patreon)
Content
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you've all had a great week.
The start of June next week will mark my seventh year writing transformation fiction as I started posting on my old tumblr blog (back then known as The Body Swap Clique) in June 2013, which is quite frankly crazy! Since then I've written - no word of a lie - around one-thousand photo captions and stories. It's more than I ever anticipated and I'm so, so thankful for all the support over the years, especially for those of you who have even chosen to support me financially through Patreon, commissions or my e-books.
Not to toot my own horn (not a euphamism, although it could be one if you want to see it that way!) but I'm pretty proud of some of the work I've put out over those seven years. Of course, there are some I look back at and cringe, either because it was clear that minimal effort went into them or the writing was plain bad, but I thought it would be best to focus on those stories that I actually enjoy re-reading and feel show off the best of my writing ability and imagination for all the different forms of transformation.
That's why I've decided, over the next ten weeks, instead of Friday recommendations, I'll be posting my personal top twenty stories from my back catalogue with a little bit of insight into why I enjoy the story so much, what inspired it in the first place and maybe throwing around suggestions for sequel stories that you guys are welcome to comment upon. I'll keep a running list in each post so you can see how I've ranked them and easily access those stories. Hopefully you'll all enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as I do!
Rather than jump into the top twenty right away, I thought I'd preface the journey with some honourable mentions, this time looking at some of the photo captions I enjoyed creating but, due to their length, I don't feel quite crack that top twenty mark. There is still one in that range so keep a look out for it!
Summer Job is one I really considered putting into the top twenty. It was one of my first explorations of gay to straight transformations, which you're all aware of by now is my favourite 'niche/taboo' form of transformation. It's also a prime example of the slow and subtle transformations with a dash of reality change and mental manipulation that I really enjoy too, the innocent gay nerd clueless as he becomes the straight jock assistant coach. While this one is already pretty long for a caption, I wouldn't be against giving it the proper attention it deserves by adapting it into a full story somewhere down the line.
Scott's Morning Run has the benefit of being about one of my top (and perhaps possibly most publically under-appreciated) celebrity hunks, Scott Eastwood. Seeing the candid pictures of him out for a jog in the sun immediately spawned the idea of somebody stealing his body and running with it. In fact I enjoyed this concept so much that I actually ended up doing a roleplay thread based upon it, which is pretty rare in itself given I'm not really a big roleplayer. Going from a hunk in the prime of his life to a middle-aged obese man and then having his former body paraded around in taunting fashion though? That's enough to get the blood flowing!
Hollywood's Beauty Standards was a little different from my usual photo caption style at the time and as such I still hold a soft spot for it. Instead of a straight up body swap or possession or anything of the sort, this could best be described as a 'beauty theft'. It was my irst time exploring such a concept and indeed I don't think I've seen too many stories using it since. It's also got some role reversal with a little bit of a wicked streak and aren't those the best kind of role reversals?
The last caption to make it onto this Honourable Mentions list is All In Tom's Contract, a body swap story between Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. My favourite body swaps are always between guys with a considerable difference in body types and that's certainly the case with these too - one slender and British while the other's a hunky Aussie. The little 'twist' at the end keeping them in the bodies they were switched into was the icing on the cake. In retrospect I think there could have been some fun with the real Chris keeping his memories and knowing that his friend and co-star had done to him, but I'm happy enough with how this came out!
Are there any photo captions from my old tumblr days (or even here on Patreon) that you think deserve honourable mentions? I'd love to hear what you think in the comments below!
