Trips to the hospital are never fun, especially if your entry is through A&E, and today I was one of those unfortunate people. This wasn't any average hospital visit for me though. My body was shaking and mouth was foaming as I was wheeled in on a stretcher, my future very seriously in doubt. I had no awareness of the world around me, only of pain.

Then, unexpectedly, the pain stopped. It didn't take a genius to realize why, particularly as I was looking at my body from an outsider's perspective and there was no bright light calling me to the afterlife. I was quite literally standing in somebody else's shoes - and not just anyone, but the handsome junior doctor who had been assigned to my case.

As far as I could tell my body was still alive, just in a coma. Left to stare at my own sleeping form, I couldn't tell if this was the most traumatizing or most exciting thing that had ever happened to me. It was certainly the most unique because I had no idea what the hell had caused it. Had we switched bodies? Had my spirit left my body and possessed his? These were questions I wasn't sure I'd get the answers to until my body awoke.

"Anything to report, Shep?" one of the older doctors asked, his lined face incredibly serious as he addressed me. My first thought was to tell him what had happened but the words died in my throat. While I hadn't had a proper chance to inspect my reflection, from the ID card I knew that the body I was currently in was pretty gorgeous and his biceps felt firm. Would it be such a bad thing to delay the news for a little while so I could properly explore his body?

"Nothing... sir. He's still sleeping," I lied, hoping my answer was satisfactory. The doctor inspected me closely for a moment before nodding and slipping away, allowing me to let out a breath. I had no idea how long it would be until I could escape and properly explore this body but I was already looking forward to it!
