Hello the heroes! Hello the visitors!

It is a pleasure to chat with you again, now that my short winter holidays are over. I hope at least some of you have had the chance to peruse Longwinter ... which was far longer than any update on this patreon should really be. But there you go.

Last year was really long, eh? Incredibly long. I thought I'd do some sightseeing over my holidays, but no. It was not to be. I spent a week doing my utmost (and nearly completely succeeding) to do quite nothing at all.

I thought to myself ... nice slow start to 2020, get things rolling, more focus, do some administration ... and then, sturm und drang, we've got brazen international assasinations and threats to destroy the universal cultural heritage of humanity.

I didn't think Red Sky | Dead City would by quite this relevant. But there you go. As the song says, you can't always get what you want.

So, where are we at?

Last year

  • I managed to make a living entirely by writing and drawing and making games.
  • I finished the digital KS version of UVG.
  • And the manuscript of Longwinter.
  • And learned to not try and do multiple projects at once. And to diversify the work a bit.

So this year on the stratometaship

  • I'll make more shorter, lightly edited, simply laid out updates. You might well be seeing two a month. Please take note of this! Hold me to it!
  • I'm also going to have to revise the rewards for the highest tier—I'm finding I simply can't realistically manage commissioned work together with writing and illustrating whole books. My brain jams and my motivation crumbles like a peanut pie. I'm thinking about instead letting the metaheroes choose what gets illustrated (with a soft veto on my part, I suppose).
  • I'm going to finish Red Sky | Dead City. In December I split it into two books, and with that in mind, we're going to finish this bad boy. I'll be prodding and begging everyone here for feedback, of course. And characters they want to see in there. And such like.
  • Then I'm going to make SEACAT happen, with more classic player books - so you won't just be tourists or weapons or skeletons!
  • And once all that is happily done, I have a couple more short (hahaha) adventures set in Longwinter / Witchburner. And on those ... I'll be looking for a lot of input.
  • And in between ... possibly ... some fiction?

And more broadly in 2020

  • Matt over at Exalted Funeral and myself are hammering out a partnership to publish other authors and artists and game designers for your delectation, with me in a creative direction role, Matt in a logistical direction role, and the Moon Rats and Double Proficiency providing invaluable and essential work.
  • You might see something coming out at ZineQuest ... who knows. Maybe I'll have time?
  • Maybe gen con?
  • Let's see how everything goes!

----•••----

Did I miss anything? Any questions? Hey, I'm happy to take questions. Honest!

Cheers,

—Luka
