You waited and waited and ... it's late and I'll add words detailing the new content in the morning. We're 34% of the way to the end, with 20 more pages done. Phew.

Good night for now, folks!

Edit: 07:56, 20 Mar 2019: It's early, so I'm adding more words now!

First, I know "chapter" isn't exactly the right word in the context of an rpg book, particularly when chapter 4 adds two new neighborhoods, 30 more events, three more creature generators, and a few more appendix pages of bestiary and mythology. If any of you knows of a better term, I'm all hears! [sic]

Second, what's new:

  • More art. Again. Doesn't this get old? No? Ok :)
  • A neighborhood of canals and sorrow-drinking giant cats that functioned like an administrative (and magical) brain for Ebét carrying spells and thoughts around with great golden catfish.
  • A neighborhood of ancestral parks that was meant to recreate the souls lost when the old Ebéteen heaven was destroyed. Now it is held together by poetry to stop the fabric of reality ripping open.
  • Six weird little diagram-dungeon locations, including one that tries to tie d6s into the map resolution.
  • An empty page! Page 65 is empty because I moved things around and ended up with an empty spread. I'll fill it in "chapter" 5.
  • Ghoul, Refugee, and Soldier generators (p. 70 to 71).
  • More events (p. 74-75).
  • Updated "People" section (p. 78–80).
  • Bonus hyphen game—which of the previous three bullet points uses a hyphen incorrectly?
  • Three times longer mini bestiary (p. 83–85).
  • More myths, places, and organizations (p. 87–89).
  • Hällas and Johnny Cash join the music list.

This one has been a bit of a beast to put together, between also launching the UVG kickstarter and going on holiday. I'm going to take a bit of a break from the RSDC for a while now to focus on finishing the UVG layout and working on Longwinter. After Longwinter and the UVG I'll very likely focus on completing Skeleton first.

I've been discovering more and more that switching between multiple projects is incredibly hard for me. Right now, after writing two chapters of RSDC in a row, I pretty much know all the different groups, how they interlock, and how to write them, without needing to refer to my appendix notes. After working on UVG for a week, all that will have been lost. Further, the switch between one project and another is also time and energy consuming. I never saw it this clearly when I worked on other projects—but I guess I didn't enjoy them as much and didn't get into the flow of work as much. Now I very clearly see the diabolical effects of multi-tasking on my productivity and energy levels.

Anyway ... in terms of time, this means a hiatus of 2–3 months for RSDC, so until June or thereabouts. After that, I think that with a bit of focus I should be able to pound out two chapters per month. Who knows, it'd be a worth a try!

Now, for the UVG layout: this is the time to give feedback if something about RSDC's layout bothers you, because that's the baseline I'm starting from!

Ok! Proper post complete! Yes!

Cheers,
Luka
