Howdy friends,

Hope you've all been keeping well since the last update!

I managed to get both the Obscure Compilation and Japan Only Vol.14 out during that window and if you've had a chance to check either out, I hope you enjoyed them!

The obscure compilation seems to have gone down quite well and people also seem to appreciate the CRT/VHS focus in the editing of the video, so thanks for the suggestions to commit to that style. Thankfully they're not a huge amount of work to put together, so I'll probably try get a Japan-only version out in the not-too-distant future, just gotta source some good Japanese PlayStation commercials and we're good to go.

Now going forward I don't really want to lean too much into making compilations of older videos, but the earlier videos in the series, and the Japan Only volumes especially probably have some of the smallest viewership of my videos and I personally think they contain some of best and most interesting games I've come across so i'd like to try get those games out there to a wider audience if possible. (Basically, I'm gonna try force the Gamera 2000 agenda on people whether they like it or not :P)

As for the future, well I'm still going ahead with the 'Worst Games' video next, although its structure has changed somewhat from the initial idea. Originally the plan was to scour the Internet for videos and articles ranking the worst PlayStation games, with the idea to calculate and aggregate the lists into a sort of ultimate top 10. What games do the internet generally consider the worst? Then play through these 10 games, and try to see if they actually deserve their reputation.

Well, the issue I've come across is that surprisingly, there are really not that many PS1-specific versions of this list. Going through the internet and Youtube lead me to some articles and videos but nowhere near the amount I imagined, leading to a smaller pool to data to base the video around. Don't get me wrong theres a lot of worst video game lists that contain PS1 games, but PS1-specific lists...  surprisingly underrepresented.

Now in spite of this, from the articles and videos I did have access to, 5 games did consistently appear across these lists and often in very high positions. Enough so that they stood out very clearly as 'What the internet generally considers the worst'

those 5 games in order are...

• 5. South Park
• 4. Barbie Explorer 
• 3. Mortal Kombat Special Forces
• 2. Simpsons Wrestling
• 1. Bubsy 3D

Now, I've played some of these games as a kid, some I have never played. But I would generally recognise these games as having a pretty bad reputation for one reason or another. Now you know me, I tend to veer a little on the positive side when it comes to video games, It's never my intention to tear them down and I aim to go into every single video game I play with the intention of having a good time, regardless of it's reputation. So, I'm hoping to give these games a fair chance and notably compare them to what I consider the worst games I've played and see how they stack up. Do they deserve their reputation as the worst, or have these games been given an extra hard time over the years? Either way, I'm hoping for a fun, informative, and postitive spin on the doom and gloom bad game narrative.

After that, we're back into Wheelsville with Obscure & Japan Vol.15, and then I'm thinking of possibly making another solo game review, as it's been quite a while since last one of those. Ubik I think? (which probably explains why it's been so long.) Maybe we'll see a return to Cryo, maybe some Fear Effect 2... who knows? We'll see how I feel when I get there.

btw I'm still prepping the next long publisher video in the background, but they take months to make so I'm conscious of whens the best time to start that whole process. The next video will be Capcom btw, and while they're no Konami, they still had a monster library on the PS1 so it'll be a trek!

Anyway, that's a little update on what I've been doing and what I've got planned next, The channel and patreon have been doing better than ever, and I really appreciate the continued support. We're still a long way away before I can consider transitioning into doing this full-time, but for the first time, I genuinely feel like there's a real possibility of making it there, and that wouldn't have been possible without your help so, much love to you all.
