Update 29th Sepetember 2023 (Patreon)

Howdy friends,

Hope you're all keeping well!

I'm just popping in for a little update on how things are progressing with upcoming projects.

First off I managed to get the Japan Only Compilation up on the channel, which I'm really pleased with it! A huge thank you to patreon member †hrone for very kindly transferring the clips using real tape hardware, it really elevated the bootleg aesthetic I was experimenting with in the Obscure compilation and I'm happy that it kind of gives these videos their own unique place on the channel, while not rendering the original videos pointless either. I get to make a  handy video compilation for the viewers, and I get to have some fun experimenting in the video-making process, it's a win-win!

As for the current main project in the works, the Worst PS1 Games video. Progress on this is moving steadily, but it's taking a little longer than originally intended.

As mentioned in the last update, the focus of the video will be on 5 games and how they gained their reputation as some of the very worst games on the console. These 5 games are...

Barbie Explorer
Mortal Kombat: Special Forces
Simpsons Wrestling
Bubsy 3D

Now originally, the plan was to review just these 5 games. But since then, to add a little flavour. The 5 games will be accompanied by mini-reviews (roughly 2 -3 minutes) of related games, to help add a bit more context to the developer's work, as well as some other notable games in the series. Here are the games that will make an appearance.

Now the good news is that capture has been completed for all the above games, and the script is currently coming along well, I'm about 50% finished and should have it done in the coming days.

The bad news is that since the video has ballooned a little, I don't expect it to be ready until a little ways into October. I'll keep you updated as things progress, but rest assured it's on its way!

Another thing you may be interested in is a rough list of every Capcom Game on the PlayStation. That video is still about 3 videos away in the timeline, but I've been prepping it in the background to help speed things along. I've managed to pick up a few really interesting oddities to highlight in the video, so if you like learning about strange variants, this will be the video for you!

The list isn't finalised yet, but I think this is all of em! There are 76 in total and it might include a few games that certainly don't look like Capcom games (Tomb Raider, Test Drive, etc.) but Capcom published em in Japan, so I think that'll be fun to highlight.

Other than that, the only other news is that I'll be appearing in 2 different podcasts in the near future! One has already been recorded and another is scheduled to be recorded down the line. I'll be sure to post them here, once they're available to the masses! Also keep it on the down-low, but in the October issue of Retro Gamer magazine, there might be a little Psygnosis PS1 feature written by yours truly ;)
