It definitely one of the greatest films for stunts I've ever seen in my life. I've never known a film to include just about every stunt there is but this film has that and does it with spades.

And some of the craziest car stunts on film I've ever seen.

The first one, Mad Max, is set while the apocalypse is kinda just getting started. It's Max's origin story. A bit slower paced, but still a great movie. The Road Warrior is more like this one. I would say neck in neck in terms of action. The Road Warrior is one of my favorite movies of all time. Fury Road is just about as good as the Road Warrior. I was really impressed that they pulled off such an amazing sequel so long after the original trilogy. Beyond Thunderdome is OK, but by far the weakest of the Mad Max films. Entertaining enough to watch once or twice, but they had just got too Hollywood by then. Something is just off. Some iconic Mad Max lore and lines, good enough action, a bit more humor than the other ones, but just doesn't have the gravitas of all the other movies.

What I really like about Tom Hardy as Max is that he actually has PTSD and mental scars from all the stuff that he went through surviving the apocalypse. He plays Max a bit more troubled than Mel played him, and as a result, a bit more human. I also really enjoyed how he went after Furiosa and got her to turn back. He could have just let her go like you would expect to happen, but he shows us that sometimes you need to act. To speak up. A nice twist to the story. Great reaction! I am glad to see people enjoy the franchise that ruined my life in the best way. Haha!

Looking forward to watching your reaction to this.

A couple years before Fury Road, Tom Hardy did a great little thriller called Locke that was literally just him driving a car for ninety minutes straight while talking about concrete. In my cross-wired brain, I like to think Fury Road is a direct sequel where he just kept on driving right through the apocalypse.

Seeing this movie in theaters on opening night before all the lip service was an amazing experience. It was absolutely face-melting. Riley, if you're going to revisit the series, I would highly recommend the Road Warrior (aka Mad Max 2). The original Mad Max is incredibly dated and a bit silly, and it might not blow your hair back, but the Road Warrior stands the test of time and is a great precursor to this movie.

I've SEEN that! Weird little movie. If you are not a Tom Hardy fan, it's probably a bit much, but I was entertained.

This is the only one I got to see in the theaters. I remember how cool it was to see a theater of people, basically react similar to Riley at the "MEDIOCRE!" line. And yes. The Road Warrior is the great grandaddy of the series. It's definitely a big part of the reason I'm a car guy.

Yeah, the original Mad Max is more like a prologue than a first installment. I still love that movie (and laughed my ass off when The Punisher ripped off the most important scene shot-for-shot), but it’s the most Ozploitation of the whole series. The Road Warrior, on the other hand, is one of the most influential action movies ever made. Everything we think of when we hear the term “post-apocalyptic”—the roving marauders, the flambouyant demagogues, the fragile community of survivors, the repurposed technology and vehicles, and of course the leather—all of that started with The Road Warrior.
