LUCKY PENNY: every cameo (that I can remember) (Patreon)

LUCKY PENNY IS OUT TODAY!!! HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY LUCKY PENNY!!! 🎉🎂🎈🎈🎈🎈
It was so nice to think about all the background details in the book from yesterday's post I DECIDED TO DO IT AGAIN LOL - Here's all the cameos I could remember from the book, there's MORE THAN I THOUGHT THERE WERE!!!
A couple highlights:
Panguin was an inside joke/weird creature I'd draw with my primary school BFF, Megan. The illustration in the book is also supposed to be a reference to old D&D Fiend Folios so I tried to render it in the style of those, along with the signing style of the artists, hence why it's signed MPJ (a reference to her full name). In fact, the D&D basement scene is a homage to my childhood memories of Megan's family's basement.
Will is actually an aged-down version of Will Maiden from the Two Little Maidens shorts we were poking at ages ago. ORIGINALLY I'd drawn in Círran in that spot but we realized that his presence went against one of the secret tenants of the book - which was that there were no "true" grownups in the world, because the mature characters were all the kids. (Círran eventually got snuck into the background of another panel in the calendar spread, with a more age-ambiguous presentation.)
Jayce and Alicia (formerly Alice) are references to Ananth's old comic :)
You can tell that this comic was drawn chronologically for a lot of reasons but also because Percy shows up in a kind of WIP form in the epilogue! (she's in a picture frame at the very very end of the hall where the eye doesn't naturally go). At this point we were in the very early pre-production of Barbarous, the comic might not have even had a name by then!
Thank you so much for following us while we put out this new edition of Penny, it's been a weird and long journey!! 💖 You can pick up Lucky Penny Color Edition over here, or wherever you buy books!!!!
