Hi everyone, In March, both games will be updated, Hero Corruption 1 and HC2. Let's talk briefly about some of the new stuff included in this update:

First, there will be a total of 4 new enemies, 2 for each game.
Hero Corruption 1 is being focused on content, just like the past few months. While HC2 will additionally receive new features like a new UI design for mobile and bonus attributes.

I personally believe that the new UI made gameplay in mobile devices much more comfortable, but there is the downside of having to play with two hands. Please let me know what you think of it once it's released.

I've also implemented bonus attributes, these new type of attributes can only be acquired through new accessories for now, but I have exciting plans for them in the future.

Both versions will have a fair amount of new content but I must admit that keeping the two games active and with frequent updates is not easy, the difference in both engines kinda bothers me a bit, transitioning back and forth between Ren'py and EOS is a little awkard, since EOS is a drag-and-drop and ren'py is more code-oriented.

Second is playtesting, while I find it fun to play both versions, testing and looking for bugs takes a lot of development time, especially when we talk about two games that will be updated at the same time.

You may also have noticed that EOS is broken...Again... This shouldn't disrupt the release of version 1.65, as all the images were uploaded in advance and everything else seems to be working normally, but it does leave a bad taste in my mouth.

EOS and Milovana is the home of Hero Corruption and it pains me to say this, but I fear for the future of the HC franchise when time is being devoted to an engine that is currently so unreliable.

Again, you can count on the HC1 update next month, but we should discuss together the longevity and how much effort should be put into the original version of the game.

On another topic, this month the website subscription was renewed, it is also possible to comment on changelogs anonymously, so there is no need to create an account. Those who follow me on Twitter must already be aware of this.

I have plans for big changes to the site, but it's not a priority... So they might take some time.

And finally, let's try something different this time: HC2's release date will be set for Saturday, March 4th. While Hero Corruption 1 v1.65 will be available for Patrons on Monday, March 6th.
This will give me some extra time to work on potential HC2 bugs and playtest Hero Corruption 1 a little more

That's it for this month's update post !
I'll see you all very soon ! Have a great week everyone and let me know if you have any questions.

I'm excited to see what the new update brings. Thanks for your consistency, I had an idea for an enemy if you are interested. She would kind of work like a ditto pokemon, she transforms into maybe multiple different people. Thought it might be cool to have her transform into a taboo milf figure that the hero knows from his past. A little bit of "mind fuck" options with that.

Thanks for the update and being so transparent on the issues with HC1. I personally find myself going back to HC1 after a few plays of HC2 because the game feels more fleshed out with a beginning, middle, and end - there are more end game goals to work towards. So when you first mentioned the idea of abandoning further updates to HC1 I was a little sad. But as solo developer with limited resources, I understand why you may feel its necessary. It would also allow you to spend whatever time you have to develop HC2 to the point where it has the replay-ability of HC1, so it's not all bad. I'm not sure if this would help at all, but if you would like additional help with playtesting, I'd offer my services. Thanks again for all the hard work, I'm looking forward to playing both of the new builds.

Thanks for your support Kwame ! Just to be clear, I have no intentions of abandoning further updates for HC1 in the near future, maybe just decreasing the amount of content overall, but even that remains to be discussed.

I loved your suggestion Yoglin ! I'm not sure what or who the "default model" could be, and tbh I don't even know if it would be necessary. But I that’s a great idea for a boss

The issues with milovana are frustrating, but a satisfactory resolution is not likely. The reality is that you and a few other creators are creating projects that are now well beyond the scope of what their web player can handle gracefully at a reasonable cost. They either need to externalize playback /and/or redesign the system entirely, or they'll just keep banging into this wall every 2-3 months until further expansion becomes too costly relative to revenue. It's your call, but it's probably time to set an endpoint for HC1 development, and shift focus to re-implementation of that existing content base in HC2. Everything that's been moved from HC1 to HC2 is waaay better in HC2. Once HC2 starts to 'catch up' to HC1 I doubt anyone will care too much about HC1 anymore, it will be a legacy product. Footnote: I predicted this would happen to milovana again after the first set of issues, I wish I was wrong.

This is more or less what I was trying to say, just put more clearly lol. Well said.

Maybe it could just start as a blob and transform from there. I'm not sure, to be honest. I didn't think about that.

I understand the sentimentality but your project and work has definitely started to eclipse the functionality of the EOS tease maker and milovana is a barely maintained site where the only person capable of doing maintenance only shows up once or twice a month at most so any speedbumps become massive hurdles as easy to fix website issues take ages to fix. Seraph0x made the site in 2006 and he hasn't fixed this bottleneck since so clear the site will just simply die whenever he stops feeling like visiting. So its simply the foreward thinking approach to develop in an engine where you aren't dependant on other people to keep creating. I think HC1 does deserve a send off though. After all, as long as Milo does let you work on HC1, there is no reason not to.

I think it's fair to say you are getting stretched too thin. You are making two completely different games in a sense. HC2 is at the point where it is basically a shorter but more complete game (traits, unlockable skills, better item City system). If it were me, it's time to abandon HC1 or at least increase focus on HC2 (maybe HC1 gets an update every 2-3 months or becomes a sandbox for creative ideas). Your progress and creative freedom for HC2 is far better than HC1 and you can still promote the game on Milovana, when it isn't down of course. Maybe it's time to use HC1 as a teaser for new players to determine if they want to try HC2. As always, you're doing awesome!
