I'm happy to report the 'linch pin' 2008 Mac Pro is back in operation! What did I do? Nothing really. It just started working again once I disconnected everything, let it sit for a few days, reseated the RAM cards, then reconnected. Since then, I have not had any hint of the previous issue.

That's hardly a technical fix, but it happens enough that it's my first approach.

Today I set up the 450MHz G3 PowerMac with matching 17" Studio Display. and powered it up. I realized the optical drive was not connected, and shut-down, unplugged power and reconnected the drive. Then it would not restart. I started to consider Power Supply transplants, blown fuses, etc. When I gave it one more shot several hours later, it restarted.

I installed Final Cut 1.2.5 into Mac OS9 with no issues.

On the other hand, the same can't be said for my Quicksilver G4. It does need a new Power Supply.

The G5 video is still missing a few key shots. It's always the humour bits that are the most complicated to film. I might not have it for Marchintosh (Happy Marchintosh, BTW!), so I will release the old Denfield Hoard first episode that's been sitting here for a long time.

That G3 B&W is my favorite new world mac for sure. It was just so revolutionary different!

It's definitely grown on me over the years since it was first introduced. I still am put-off by the "G3" on the sides, but that's personal impression. A great machine otherwise.

As much as I love my B&W G3, they’re so finicky! When I was doing the restore on mine it refused to start up and send a monitor signal until I let it sit plugged in (and off) for 30 minutes. Between that and the flaky ATA controllers, and… Gah still one of my favorite Macs in my collection. I love looking at it, and the way it bounces that beautiful blue color back into the wall when light hits it, just… 🤤
