Greetings one-and-all! Welcome back to Constellation. On this week's episode of Last Stand Media's conversational podcast, the Brothers Moriarty are joined by legendary games designer David Jaffe and Punching Up co-host Micah Watson. As usual, we have some random topics to throw your way. Jaffe had an online experience recently that gave him pause, and has him reflecting on the hatred fomenting in seemingly every corner of the internet. Meanwhile, Dagan wants us to present him with our biggest hot (or bad?!) takes. What 'crazy' ideas do we hold that we know most people won't agree with? Colin probes everyone's minds for their current feelings on the free-to-play gaming scene, and whether it's sustainable (and even perhaps a net positive for our sprawling industry). Finally, Micah submits to the audience a truly Micah topic: Milk. Do we drink it? Do we care about it? Do you fear it? Have you ever truly thought about where it comes from...?

Jaffe is raising a trans child. Trans children are created by irresponsible adults. We as a society have failed our kids so fucking hard. I could not imagine a more confusing world to grow up in. This is a problem with the whole trans debate: no one out there is ACTUALLY assuming that an 'assigned as male at birth' trans woman was not assigned as male at birth. Next 2 paragraphs get a little into the weeds so jump to the last para if you just want my take away... There are discussions about what actually constitutes a human's sex and sure, one day we may learn that there are 50 more markers that determine it (with the vast majority being chemicals and such inside the brain that we can't even see atm). And we may learn that only the visually obvious markers (penis or vagina, etc.) actually make less difference than the internal markers and that trans women have MORE of these internal markers than some assigned at birth females (probably not, but we honestly don't really know yet). So if that time arrives, then sure, I think most trans women would be correct in saying 'I am a woman!' vs. 'I am a trans woman', HOWEVER at the moment, most trans people I know are not walking around unaware that they- as the current society defines the two human sexes- were not born with the body that represents the sex that they feel/think/know they are. And they know this is either true (and there are things going on in the body we don't yet understand) or that they have gender dysphoria is true. They are not denying that. And so- if I may speak for trans people (which really I shouldn't but here we are)- my guess is the vast majority of them are fully aware they will never be a 'man' in the way society currently defines it. Just like the majority of assigned at birth males will never be a 'trans man' as society defines it. So when people push at trans folks and act like these people are delusional, this is a talking point not really based in reality. Trans folks I know are like, 'Look- I dunno what is going on but THIS is how I see myself and this is how I want to live and need to live in order to be healthy and happy so just back the fuck off'. And I get-much as I can- their anger. I assume anyone who knows trans people would also get their anger. What a horrible world to live in where you are just trying to build a life for yourself and people you love and people are attacking you for utter bullshit reasons. I mean, it's not as if OTHER people in America don't tell themselves all sorts of crazy shit that makes no sense to me. Hell, I think we are prob better off if religion just went away at this point. But you don't see me trying to pass laws to shut down places of worship. And there's way more scientific proof that trans folks are real than there is that some creator is pulling the strings.

I don't understand why some people get hung up on young people voting. We should be encouraging them to get involved in the political process as all of the legislation is going to affect them the most, not the 75 year Olds that tend to always vote despite being a few years away from keeling over.

Im very surprised that Jaffe is okay with Marvel Snaps battle pass mode despite not liking when a game holds “abilities” behind a paywall. That was entirely the reason i stopped playing that game. When they make you pay for an essential card even though every other card is earned by playing, is that not pay to win? Love the game but I didn’t want to go down that rabbit hole

Jaffe man, the guy has such a bitter way of dealing with people he disagrees with or any discussion. I can count on one hand the number of people that I have genuinely harbored hatred for. Jaffe on the other hand, it seems like someone mearly tweeting about something he doesn't like is enough for him to completely write someone off as a human.

I like neither cantaloupe nor watermelon. I'm an outlier in my family though, because the rest of the family likes both. Probably the weirdest food that I enjoy is that I put Mustard along with the Ranch on my salads. I'm also a big fan of eggs in general, though my favorite way isn't scrambled, but omelettes. Just pre-scramble it, pour in the pan, wait until it's pliable enough to fold, drop in some cheese and ham and fold it over. Mixing a medium egg over some hashbrowns is great too.

I think Jaffe has one thing slightly off. They're not saying the jews are taking their jobs themselves, they're saying that jews are bringing immigrants in to take the jobs from americans because they're cheaper. The ranters were also completely wrong though. Those immigrants are coming in to replace the children that aren't being born because americans are being slackers about having kids, not to replace the americans who are being born. If they really want to solve the problem, they should work to have more children themselves.
