The Arcade, Back to School, Hidden Talents, Nutrition Labels | Constellation, Episode 33

Welcome back to Constellation! Joining the Brothers Moriarty on today's episode of Last Stand's conversational podcast is Defining Duke co-host Lord Cognito and executive producer Dustin Furman. Dustin comes wielding a mighty topic this week: The arcade. Allow us to reminisce about the quarter-munching days for your enjoyment. Cog, meanwhile, is curious what our habits are when it comes to nutrition labels. Do we analyze the food we buy and eat? What do we look for, want, and avoid? Dagan is eager to know what our hidden talents are, not ones that we'd use professionally per se, but rather personally. What are we lowkey good at that would surprise others? Finally, Colin brings up the rear with a timely topic. Being that it's mid-August, it makes a lot of sense to talk about going back to school. Did we look forward to or dread returning to the classroom in our youth? How did we prepare -- successfully or unsuccessfully -- for our return to the grind?

Perfect timing. Just wrapped up Knockback. Repairing drywall in my house from a leak. Brand new house too. I won't name builders....

Ketosis is the optimal state for the human body. You go through a sickness when you first switch to keto because your body is finally getting a rest from all the carbohydrates and it has to readjust. Everyone should be on keto. Carbs are killing you.

Colin’s “southern” accent is the most ridiculous shit ever 😂😂

My wife is a nutritionist and fitness competitor, and this is just factually false. Period. It’s hokey internet science. Your body and mind need about equal protein and carbs, and about half as much fat to perform optimally.

Dagan, thank you for your LinkedIn rant as I'm also frantically applying everywhere on that dang website. Good luck to you and everyone looking for jobs and opportunities👍

Did anyone else ever hate the first day or so of school when they gave you all the books you would need for the year that amounted to a million damn pounds of books you had to find a way to get home? Felt like I was carrying a Honda Civic on my back walking home.

Dustin, If you can rent a car, you should go game hunting in small towns in Japan even if it's just for a day. Go on a trip to Mt. Fuji and hit Book-Off's and Hard-Off stores as they have so many amazing items that will make you feel like a crazy person wanting to buy everything. You will find tons of games and anime gear for much lower prices when you go outside the main cities. I mostly hung around Tokyo and Osaka and I wish I would have known what I know now especially with the prices nowadays. Not many tourists go to the Super Potato in Toshima city/Ikebukero. They have tons of amazing things and it's not as empty as the one in Akihabara. Not the cheapest place in Japan but cheaper than prices if you can find the item on EBay. I bought way too much and had to ship some things back home with Japan post, but it was a hassle as they didn't speak English well. I was happy to get home and await my treasures. I can't wait to hear your stories about your Japan experiences and arcades!

Have any of you heard of the 1983 film "The Keep"? It's literally the story of Wolfenstein, but years before the fact, and it's directed by Michael Mann to boot. I just learned about it myself, so I haven't seen it, but I think we've successfully located the origin of the paranormal alternate history WW2 trope here boys.

Dagan’s commute to work was crazy. I thought mine was rough. Before the writers strike and depending on the job I was working on I would wake up at 4am drive 15min to the path station Catch the E train to be at work by 6:30am.
