Please welcome friend-of-the-show Vince Ingenito, ex-IGN reviews editor and old friend of mine (Colin's) from back in the day. Vince returns to the podcast, as promised, to discuss Street Fighter 6 in greater detail. Just over a year ago, on episode #198 of Sacred+, Vince and I delved into the nitty-gritty surrounding SF6, which was at that time just revealed. Now that the game's launched to critical and commercial acclaim, I figured it was time to get Vince back into the fold to talk about the bounty Capcom has delivered. But as is often the case with the two of us, our conversation ultimately veers into other territory, as we try to get to the bottom of a lingering tension in our industry about how products are conceived, funded, produced, and sold. I'm most-certain you're going to really like our chat. Enjoy.

Putting Dead Space aside, SF6 is probably my game of the year, so far. MK1’s really gonna need to impress me, with how much I wasn’t a fan of MK11.

Vince has such amazing insight. His analysis is very interesting. Definitely should continue be a a feather in the cap of last stand when appropriate.

It's crazy I was just reading his review for FF15 since I'm thinking of playing it after 16. Enjoy his insight, he likely got me into SF6 as well now.

Fucking love this game. Me and my gf adore the visuals and the mechanics and the layout. Love it and it oozes cool in 6.

Alec Barcelos

Awesome! No interest in playing SF myself but love hearing from Vince and having Colin pick his brain. Looking forward to seeing more of Vince in future SS discussions if schedules align.

Dave Barr

I like that dude.

Jin Pak

Man, would love to listen to a ss+ or a constellation episode with Vince and jaffey.

I know people probably wont agree... but God damn it we need more vince!!

Vince is awesome, I'd love to see him more often, even if it's just spoilercasts.

I think the audience is reacting the way they are because of how publishers trained them. Gamers want to rush to level 100 because they have to, or else they’ll miss out on time-limited content. So they just play with these crazy swords of Damocles over their heads. Or they treat games as disposable content because so few publishers are concerned with the art of their AAA games, and instead focus on extracting every possible cent from its consumers. Publishers want to usher gamers towards spending every cent, it seems natural gamers would find difficulty in appreciate the artistic beauty of the medium.

Love having Vince on. So glad fighting games are getting it's shine on last stand!

We need a third Duke… Vince is right there….

MDoftheNorth

This was such an awesome conversation, especially the last third. Absolutely love Vince’s perspective and his way of articulating issues. Hope to see more of him!

NBA 2k is no doubt the major driver of this lobby based matchmaking. Have a look into my player and how avatars gather around courts and have pick up games, go shopping, and do all sorts of other stuff. It's almost GTA lite

Loving Street Fighter 6, haven’t been this into a fighting game since DOA4. Crawled my way up to Silver 4 star from the rookie ranks over the past few weeks.

Jim Capron

The conversation regarding game development/production vs gamer expectations really resonated with me. Would love to hear Vince more on LSM.

Jason Hjartarson

When does the veer start, I don’t have much interest in fighting games but the last part of the notes sounds fun?

Mykal

Really enjoying see Vince on the shows. Great insight and a very positive dude.

Great episode

my biggest problem with SF6 is how charge charge characters were done dirty and got some of their moves swapped to command moves. I got 20-15 years of muscle memory to rewire because DeeJay's machine gun upper is now a command move :)

I'm not a huge fan of fighting games either but I dig Vince and his insight. That being said- the last part I believe you're referring to starts at about 1hr 16min. Outstanding.

I just want to nitpick one thing Vince said about D4 and the player who was upset about the mob density getting nerfed. That is a legitimate grievance that I think Vince downplayed. End game content is very important for hardcore ARPG players, and that is the one area D4 is lacking right now. After we have already experienced the story and open world, the leveling of our characters and gear becomes the absolute most important focus. Vince’s anecdote assumes the player doesn’t care about the story, lore, or exploring the world, when the reality is that this player has probably already completed the campaign and is now trying to level their character with what little end-game content that exists. Running through weaker or nerfed content is just a time-waster. Vince’s gripe with this player definitely comes from the mindset of a casual ARPG player.

Great to hear Vince back on. Very knowledgeable and just comes across as a really affable guy
