The Sacred Sales Saga (May 2023) | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 299

Hello! Let's play The Sacred Sales Saga, shall we? For the uninitiated, Sacred Sales Saga is a game we conduct here on +, and it all surrounds the monthly PlayStation Network sales charts. Every 30 days, Sony releases the 20 most-downloaded titles on PSN, and we try to guess that list. We made up a whole scoring rubric around it, and you can play along at home at sacredsalessaga.com. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is supposed to be horrible... but will it chart? Could the new Warhammer 40,000 boomer shooter Boltgun slip onto the list? How will Spider-Man Remastered be affected now that it can be purchased a la carte? All of that -- and more! -- on the other side of the play button.

I’m still feeling the Sacred Sales Saga Mr. Moriarty!

2023-05-31 19:05:20 Hi team - just feedback on sacred sales sega. To me it makes most sense to add it to the main show once a month. Having a dedicated slot to it on sacred symbols + almost feels like a waste as the conversation around the sales isn’t as interesting (at least to me) as any of the other sacred symbols + instalments. I watch everything Last Stand puts out but sacred sales always stirs the least excitement in me. Keep up the great work and thank you!

Sacred Sales Saga and the crossover with defining duke are my two favorite pieces of SS+ content. I won't listen to many interviews, and there are many game reviews I might skip, but these two shows are always must-listens. No other podcasts give me the detailed nerdy review of sales metrics, and I love that. All for combining it with sacred league making it one big monthly event. Quick note, I do think your team should wait until last day or week of the month to make predictions. This way you have all review scores for the month out, then can make guesses based on those scores. Right now you might know how some but not all games reviewed within the month which could warp your predictions.

Regarding the start of this episode I would say this and the call ins are the least interesting episodes to me. I usually still give them a listen though!

Tyler Kaminski

I love this show Colin, and I actually schedule time to sit down and fill my chart out each month. I understand if the traffic isn’t there, but I really love this show.

Raul Menendez

Colin, I'm ashamed that someone that smokes as much as you would engage in an act as sophomoric as letting the chamber sit with smoke still in it. The reason why people clear the chamber in one pull is to prevent the smoke from going stale which can cause the hit to be harsher on the throat and it also tastes worse. You might also notice the smoke will also start to go yellow within a few seconds of sitting there. I don't know what they do down in Virginia, but passing a bong with stale smoke in it is a no-no 'round these here parts.

Zac Lebeau

I can only speak for myself but I love the show because I enjoy the nitty gritty inside baseball analysis of the games from a sales standpoint. I don't play along because I have so little free time as it is I'm not gonna spend a chunk of it earnestly thinking about it

Paul Simmons

I love the idea of a host. Fonze is would be a great host. So would king David lol

Bobby Rigo

First of all, love the concept and the execution of the show overall. I have a minor request and if it’s just me, feel free to issue the stand downs: I’d love to see the original Top 20 list alongside when we are seeing everyone’s list. This way I’m not looking at a list of games but not knowing how on/off you guys were.

I like Sacred League better. This show does nothing for me. Love the rest though, so no big deal.

2023-06-01 02:08:17 As a person that is super into fantasy football like myself, I can say that the sales saga is a great concept. You guys just need to find a way to add a bit more strategy to the rules and make the game a little less random. I think it says a lot that Colin, someone who follows PlayStation as a career, is getting beat by Dustin (no offense Dustin lol) Adding some more stakes on a monthly basis would also add to the enjoyment from a listener perspective.

Also, a perfect answer needs to be worth 5 points instead of 4.

I'm a massive sports fan (Packers, Bucks, Brewers, Liverpool FC) and took a crack at fantasy football for a few years, but I stop kidding myself and realized I'm wholly disinterested in the points/numbers game, sports of otherwise. You guys do what you feel you should, but I'd be more interested in filling out Sacred Symbols+ with a different kind of show. A dedicated "what we've been playing" look-back at everything you played at the end of each month would be neat.

David Portnov

I don't watch sports at all, but I do really enjoy listening to Sales Saga regardless. I just don't want to put in the work and participate. It's just not something I would enjoy doing on top of a Fantasy Critic League that I'm already in. For what it's worth, I don't think there's a single LSM show that I haven't enjoyed.

Griffin Karr

I like Dustin’s idea of combining this and Sacred League. If i had to choose one, I’d choose League. It’s a more fun, relaxed show

Miracle Peach

I like Sacred Sales Saga! Please don’t axe it! Only thing I’ve thought is that I wish you would use NPD (Circana?) numbers, bc that includes both physical and digital in the US.

Niall G

Chris did only pick 19.

DDTJOESTAR

Keep the Sava going if it doesn’t hurt you guys by metrics. Good thought exercise in how to guess the next big PS chart topper. Fun engagement.

sean McGuire

Data is plural!!!!! Those data. Ama, motherfuckers

Robert

I really like the sales saga but don't participate online because I forgot on the first month. I think I'll start playing next January. I like Dustin's idea of combining it with the leg as well.

TreyDogg

Not a fan of Saga. I also love movies and could care less about box office numbers. Would love if you replaced this with something different

Dominic Dilullo

"What's in that pipe, hashish?"

NeO JD

Dustin puts in more work when doing the research and I’d argue he has a wider sense of the market considering he’s platform agnostic.

nicholas

Yeah I think this concept is a better idea than execution. Can't say why but this show just feels boring to me. This is my first episode having watched it and can't say I would tune in again.

Kyle Clayton

Something new please

Salazarmageddon

This is my situation also. Fun show to watch, but the time I have available to participate I would instead rather use to play games!

Mark M

I like the show, but I think there is a danger of flooding people's inboxes to where they can't keep up. Sometimes it's better to kill your darlings.

Marco Maluf

I never had the intention of playing saga, but I love the interaction between C C D, so I don’t mind listening…

Kurt Lewin

Dredge is so cool
