Hello! Let's play The Sacred Sales Saga, shall we? For the uninitiated, Sacred Sales Saga is a game we conduct here on +, and it all surrounds the monthly PlayStation Network sales charts. Every 30 days, Sony releases the 20 most-downloaded titles on PSN, and we try to guess that list. We made up a whole scoring rubric around it, and you can play along at home at sacredsalessaga.com. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is supposed to be horrible... but will it chart? Could the new Warhammer 40,000 boomer shooter Boltgun slip onto the list? How will Spider-Man Remastered be affected now that it can be purchased a la carte? All of that -- and more! -- on the other side of the play button.

I’ve been really enjoying the Sacred Sales Saga, and would love for it to stick around. As someone in finance, as I’m sure there are others in the audience in finance as well, this stuff is really interesting. Also, pretty unique in the video game podcast space as well.

Tonys_Always_Write

I love Sales Saga! But I like the League one better. (Forget what its called)... I know you guys are at your limit but, spinning one off in the off weeks of Nintendo podcast is always an option.😉 Although... Really we just need weekly Punching Up! Lol.

I’m feeling “the leg”, Mr. Krabs

I love the show Colin! I don't have the time to play along, as I'm sure is the case with many, but I find it super entertaining. It's also really educational in terms of sales trends.

Honestly, to tell you the truth, I have a hard time differentiating between League and Saga. My suggestion would be to kind of lay these down for the next 3 months or so because there has been a lot of different news and events coming up from Sony. So I feel like you guys are just thinking about this too much and it's not the right time to think about it, you know. Just take a breather come back and then reevaluate when your mind isn't too clouded. You have a lot on your plate now, two brand new popular shows lots of new enticing guests and an influx of new listeners. But what do I know? I'm high as fuck right now. I just love listening to you guys. So do what you want!

The concept for the show is super fun, although I do feel like there is a randomness in games sales that doesn’t entirely translate the way sports results/predictions might be tracked. I think it’s because with fantasy sports you’re dealing with the same pool of assets for the most part over an entire season. I know you guys aren’t familiar with soccer necessarily but I think this might be a good analogy. We have promotions and relegations to different leagues but the teams within that league are set in stone from the start of the season. The players are also the same the entire season (excluding the additions and exits that occur in the mid season transfer window). So whilst players are added, new game releases are more akin to a new team being randomly added to the league mid season which reshapes the entire weighting of the league. And whilst soccer has injuries and suspensions that impact player selection and provide randomness in that sense, a ps store sale, a game being delayed, or a game releasing full of bugs isn’t quite the same. I dunno, it’s a fun show and I enjoy listening in, but maybe the randomness is what is holding back participation🤷‍♂️

I would be cool with Sales Saga and League maybe folding together or one of them being dropped. And while I agree people saying the showcase was terrible are being babies, the SS+ predictions episode proves it was ok to have high expectations. Y’all had (in hindsight) wild predictions. Some people just take it too seriously 😂

Ethan Barcelos

Just wanna say that I love this show, its just that I'm too lazy and stupid to participate myself 😂 I say keep it going!

Klutch

Prefer sales saga to most interviews and to call in shows especially. Crossovers are the best though maybe some punching up x sacred or x Duke?

Anonymous

I agree with this. Love both Saga & League, but league is a bit more silly & open ended & I dig that lol.

Tonys_Always_Write

Sorry for the double comment: Another suggestion about combining League/SSS is maybe you could just do the top 10 NPD? And combine it all into one longer episode, because you know we're ravenously ravenous for length and girth..... Uh.

Bobby Woods

Colin “can you hear my bong” Moriarty everyone 😂😂

Jeffery Carlson

Some feedback. Love the concept, love the show. Would like to play along, but absolutely hate discord. Don’t fully get it, and won’t do anything that requires discord utilization.

Pasqual Ribot

Love the concept Colin, mostly you guys explaining the reasoning for your picks. Its a great way to understand more of the industry. Maybe you could have the top scorer for that month for a brief explenation of their picks? There may be a lot of geniuses out there

Out_Of_Focus_Bigfoot

I enjoy the sales saga, but I love the league. Was bummed when it went on hiatus. Also definitely don't want some random 3rd party to host the league, the best part of that show is getting the sacred gang together in a more informal, eazy-breezy setting. I don't tune in to SS+ for some other doofus, I tune in for you doofuses

Context Should Matter

I like the show. I would like to make a list but with work, wife, and child I don’t have time to dive in. Keep the show going because I listen to every episode and like the discussion.

Nathan Densley

I love Sacred Saga. It puts games in perspective with sales. I think the three of you because of the research you are doing has increased the value of your commentary on games in general. I would love to participate but I have not yet put them time aside for it.

P Wolly

I also prefer the 'Lig. This would be a lot, but what if you allowed the community spreadsheets/competition to continue and somehow incentivized winning for the audience? You could mention a Top 5 or 10 scorers from the Discord and make dumb contests out of it, and it might make the presence of the segment brief enough for the main show.

Love sales saga even if I don’t have time to play along

Adam Barnes

Bros, I love the show. I just don’t have time to play along but I enjoy listening. Keep it around pppllleeeeaaasssseee

Miracle Peach

I like Sacred Sales Saga! Please don’t axe it! Only thing I’ve thought is that I wish you would use NPD (Circana?) numbers, bc that includes both physical and digital in the US.

Kenneth Fox

Personally I really like the show because it’s a nice shorter episode and it’s always interesting seeing which games find their way to the top.

Zack E

Can I be honest and maybe selfish? I’m going to be so annoyed if sacred sales saga goes away whilst this new Nintendo show has been introduced, after the constant whining of the community for it for awhile now. I know one doesn’t have to be in place of the other, but that is my personal fan thinking. And I’ll just say it, I think it’s totally lame that people act like this concept isn’t interesting. And frankly if either Dustin or Chris isn’t fully into it, just get someone else to do it, or maybe incorporate the listeners in some way more idk It’s such a perfect way to provide better insight into the market, conversations about diverse games can naturally occur, we are obsessed with sales and numbers anyway. Honestly wtf everyone why isn’t this more popular? Lame all I can say

Bryan Creagh

Don't cancel sacret sales saga...

Noah Friscopp

The incessant bitching about the Showcase made me leave the LSM discord, the petulant whining was out of control.

Stefano Fontana

I love this show! it gives me that itch for fantasy baseball that I have been missing since switching to a more nerd-centric workplace. I need this in my life lol

Tyler

Worth pointing out to Chris that Disney speed storm is a F2P game and that’s probably why it’s not showing up.

Ørjan Benjaminsen

I just listened to the episode. You have to keep it going. Its just 1 episode a month, and I love making the list every month!

Dante B

Not gonna lie - over Saga personally. I feel like the conversation is getting a little redundant and a lot of that is driven because you can count on half the list or so being largely consistent month after month. The boys can only talk so much about where COD, 2K, GTA are going to chart. That said a lot of people seem to dig it and every show doesn’t need to be for everyone so keep it coming. I get an insane amount of content for my $5 a month.

Jason Olmstead

Mic volumes seemed high for this episode. Not sure if that's just in my head or not. Maybe. Still good shit.

Anonymous

Personally I usually skip the sales saga episodes. My eyes glaze over when scoring and whatnot are being discussed. The first half of the episode is brutal for me, but it gets better in the second half when you guys are discussing your new lists.

Morten Madsen

Some feedback. Honestly, i dont care about sales saga. I think it should be news or a small topic on the main show. At some point i think you guys are going to repeat yourself. I would rather have monthly ss+ q and a show with written questions.

lazer_josh

Damn it's taken like 700 episodes of LSM content to finally hear Colin rip a bong on mic

MomsLikeMe

I like these episodes. Participating is far too much work but I look forward to each episode. Mixing it with Sacred League seems like a great idea.

Sam Myers

Love the sales saga as someone who is interested in the business of the gaming industry.. Also off topic, but a outsider host of sacred league? I nominate damon hatfield…

Captain Trips

I'm a big fan of the sales saga. I have no desire to participate but I love listening to you guys go through your picks and the standings each month.

Surge!

Colin's bong is alllll peeeerrfectly legal.

David Gifford

The bong rip to start the show absolutely spoke to me. I absolutely love this show. One of my favorites on sacred symbols plus honestly.

Mist Ali

Keep the sales saga Colin. I don't have time to play but love listening to you guys do it.
