Greetings, Dukes of the Podcasting Kingdom! I hope you both are well! I have a question I've been thinking about, regarding Microsofts recent deals with other cloud-gaming platforms. Aside from appeasing regulators and general concerns, what is Microsofts angle here? Why do you think they are making these deals? yeah, Call of Duty is Big, and having it on multiple platforms is good... but why would MS make agreements with their internal studio's games and Bethesda's own games? you would think that they would want their in-house on their own platforms to drive subscription and player numbers, but I guess not. im not trying to come come across as a fanboy, but it makes me wonder why they would allow their games on other services (like GeForce Now) that have features that Xcloud doesn't, like resolutions above 1080p and Ray-Tracing. I'm curious as to what you both think. You two never fail to bring more insight into the events that cover, and I would LOVE to hear your opinions. I hope you both have a "I wanted to buy a new pair of shoes, but all the store has are Crocs" kind of day.

Hey Duke Bois! Ive got a bone to pick with Matty. A couple of episodes ago i wrote in about a possibility of a licensed "Blade" game. You didn't read my question but you did mention a possibility of a "Blade" game during the show. You had the audacity to claim Blade isnt a big enough IP to warrant a game. The DISRESPECT! Please Cog, straighten this man out and back me up. A Witcher style vampire RPG set in the Blade universe would be diggity diggity dope! It being set in the late 90s would be so nostalgic and cool. Just for context my dad was a huge comic nerd and named me Blade after the character (Im 29), so dont juge me too harshly for the fanboyism. Now which Xbox studio should make it? 🤔

Howdy daisy dukes, Collin just released the wholly political episode of sacred symbols +, if there is a political topic that you both feel strongly about can we expect a similar defining Duke Ultimate episode? Have a Playstation just bought the best side quest of the new big game for it exclusively kind of day.

Hello Undefeatable Matty and Chaos Control Cog, The Blue Blur is getting a large update to his latest adventure this Wednesday, having boss rush, challenge modes for the cyber space levels and even music to collect in the open zones. Any thoughts on this update and did you give the game a chance yet Cog? It may be messy but it's a genuinely fun time. Have a 'Little Timmy keeps dying on us' kind of day.

Dookie Boys, I’ve never played a Diablo game before but Diablo IV looks interesting to me. Have you tried the beta yet? Should I give it a shot when it goes open for all? Thanks and have a “I’ve never seen Frozen before but I guess I have to now because Dagan wants to talk about it” kinda day. 😄

Howdy boys, I just wanted to say I don’t really like pixel graphics or turn based games anymore but after hearing what Matty had to say and checking out the demo I went ahead and bought Octopath Traveller 2 (Physical copy 😊) this game is gorgeous! I’m not very far in but I can say at this moment I’m very happy playing a pixel graphics turn based game. If I was to have a question it would be, are there any games that have brought you back to a genre you weren’t into anymore? Cheers and have a realising all it takes to get you back into genre is one of the best games ever made in it 😆

Hey dukes, This is mainly for Cog but of course Matty can chime in. Where do you stand on the discussion revolving around the Root of Nightmares day 1 difficulty? Should someone as new as Matty be able to complete it or should it have been harder to do? Also Rest in Peace Lance Reddick

Greetings Lord Matty and Mr. Coggy Plays, As someone who has recently returned to the Xbox ecosystem after a prolonged absence since the Xbox 360 era, I would like to express my sincere admiration for the console's outstanding backward compatibility feature. I am delighted to report that I have recently completed my first playthrough of Spec Ops: The Line and revisited the classic 2002 title Timesplitters 2, which I had failed to complete as a child, but managed to conquer this time around. It has been a year and a half since this program's conclusion, which was hailed as one of the most exceptional gaming preservation services at the time, and since. The decision to end the program begs the question of whether this was a misstep, and how the program could have been expanded upon further. What say you Dukes in hindsight? How do you feel 18 months after the program? Should they have continued and pushed forward to make an even greater preservation program and what do you think it would look like now?

Hello Lil’ Dukes, How good must Starfield be to be considered a success for Xbox? Is the Starfield/Redfall combo enough? I definitely like the variety of big games this year of Starfield, Spiderman 2 & Zelda but the competition is fierce. I feel as players we all win but what does Xbox have to do to make a statement? Thanks for all the hard work…but don’t forget to feed Lil’ Timmy.

Andy

Hey Dukes, If Xbox were to make a Mid Gen refresh what would you want to see from their respective consoles? Me personally I would love to see them add a screen to the Series S. For the Series X I want standard 2TB SSD and for it to be less bulky. I know they have the Xscreen and 2TB ssd card. But they are expensive sold separately. If they could make it happen at a reasonable price. I think they would have real winners this mid gen update. Thanks Dukes it’s always a nice treat listening to the best in the Biz.

Hey Dukes, I've been seeing this in loads of reels and mentioned on a few podcasts over the last few years... What's up with Americans getting take out then eating it in their cars in some random parking lot? Are there no restaurants to eat in? Is the vibe just off in McDonalds? Please explain this phenomenon to someone living on the other side of the planet.

Greetings Autobot Matty and Decepticog long time listener first time writing in this write ins mainly for cog but matty you can write in too. Recently hasbro has announced some transformers studio series figures which usually is reserved for the movie characters but they added a gaming line starting off with war for cybertron now there's now way to buy the cybertron games digitally for now. Do you guys think that hasbro and activison could renew the license and rerelease the games. Thanks and have a one of my favourite podcast hosts disrespected my favourite transformers series beast wars kind of day.

Hello, Dukes. Lance Reddick passed away at the youthful age of 60 and while he had an awesome career in acting in both movies and TV, let's not forget his equally amazing roles in video games. What's a favorite memory of yours featuring a Lance Reddick role whether it's in a game, a movie, or a TV show? RIP Lance Reddick.

Howdy Dukes, First time writing in as i primarily pay attention to Playstation and the SS guys but wanted to write into y’all about coming into the Xbox ecosystem. Last year I became a father and immediately (and obviously) found my gaming time limited to playing my Switch in bed after the baby was asleep. I would continue buying games for the PS5 I barely used and recently decided to make a change. I sold the PS5 and then turned the money into investment of a Series S and Game Pass so that way I save a ton of money and don’t feel as obligated to play “next gen” just because of the high price investment. A friend asked me about the PS5 exclusives I’ll miss but this was the other aspect that led me to letting go of Playstation: it’s not the same Playstation from my 20s or high school years when the exclusives were diverse and interesting. I had outgrown Playstation I found. From all this, a final surprise came too: owning a Switch and an Xbox is literally the perfect combo of consoles. All the weeb/RPG stuff my heart desires cold with the Switch while anything else I could ever want comes to Xbox and with a strong chance of passing through Game Pass to boot. Anyways, sorry for the long-winded post but I just wanted to share my story and lifestyle change. Thoughts?

Hey Dukes, Just wanted your opinions on this topic. Obviously Activision has been the main focus on the acquisition front, but I want to look past that. I think easy too many of the Xbox faithful have thought that they could realistically go after another publisher. As well, I think it’s a smarter idea to go after and team up with one of the dozens new start ups being formed. Xbox is rumored to be doing this with brass lion and project shoalin. Just seems like going after the big 3rd party publishers is a dumb move when so much of the talent is leaving. Also realistically it would be unlikely to cause regulation problems. Hell even Cog’s favorite guy Jake from Firaxis today announced his intentions of making a team studio. Just wanted your opinions on this thought. Have a wait till Redfall ends up being bigger then Starfield kinda day. Steven

Hey Dukes, Just had a question for curiosity’s sake. Have you fellas played Gunfire Reborn? It’s a first person shooter, roguelike with RPG elements. This indie game is fantastic and gives me borderlands vibes with the weapons drops. I highly recommended it if you haven’t played it yet! P.S I’m still playing Midnight Suns and I love every second. - Sorenzu

Hey Dukes, I don’t really have anything pithy or witty to say. Love the show and the camaraderie between you two. I just wanted to pop in to say holy shit Cog, thank you for continuously praising Midnight Suns. I’ve played both XCOM games, never really fell for them. Bought MidSun on the Steam spring sale this weekend and wow am I hooked. I did not expect an XCOM like game to have this much to do when not in a mission.

Daniel

Cog, you seem to be pretty high on Halo's current state, I'm wondering if you know if it's improved on PC? I haven't given the game a second though in over a year because the multiplayer was a desync sweatfest, and I hated the open world in the campaign and didn't get halfway through. I'm also wondering if you two think there's any chance we could get a reworked version of the campaign with traditional, linear levels? They could just wall off the bits important to the mission and teleport you to a decent starting spot. That seems like too much to hope for, so do you think Halo will go back to levels in future entries, or are we stuck beelining it from story beat to story beat in a banshee from now on? Thanks!

Good day dukes! I had a question about the Redfall release date and wanted to gage your thoughts on it. Recently while playing Halo Wars 2 with my brother on the box, the question was posed “Are you gunna check out that Redfall game when it comes out?” my prompt response was “I would like to, but I don’t think I’ll have time” This game releases 4 days after Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, and 10 days before The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I think it’s safe to say Redfall is definitely the weakest looking of the three, and for many people who have to budget their gaming time, this game will be the skip. Personally I feel Redfall is just going to fall to the wayside , maybe a few people will be talking about it when it releases, but it will be very quickly forgotten about with all the other games. How do you think it will fare, and would it possibly benefit from a delay this late in this close to release? Love to hear your thoughts on this, have a great day!

Tyee

Hey DD I hope both of you and everyone else at LSM is doing well. I was just wondering when you would get your next guest possibly? Also what would be a dream guest or what situation in the gaming industry would you want to get more information from a particular guest. For me it has to be the internal stuff going on in 343 and get the two sides in 343 that are maybe deciding whether to stick with slip space engine or go with unreal engine 5.

Hi Beautiful Matty and Swag Cog, With the announcement of EA delisting Mirrors Edge, Battlefield 1943, and Bad Company 1&2 (plus the 3ds and Wii U Eshops going down) do y’all have any major feelings about this? Or any core memories of these games? Do these store delistings give a case for pirates? Have a “I met Lord Cog and he is the MF goat, now I just need to meet Matty” kinda day. -AstroParrotKing

Hey boys, Just a quick small correction. Last week, while discussing Xbox delays, you had a brief conversation about The Last of Us Factions game and when it's supposed to be out. Matty said he believed the game was supposed to come out the same year as The Last of Us Part II did. The game has actually never had a timeframe to be released, and all they ever said is that it would be it's own standalone game and that we would eventually get it.

Hey Elder Matty and Paladin Cog, After nearly 8 long years of suffering, I finally got the “Benevolent Leader” and Platinum trophy for Fallout 4. I wanted to be ecstatic, but all I could think is “if I even hear settlement in Fallout 5, I’m throwing it in the dumpster.” It also got me thinking about a question for you, have you guys ever spent an ungodly amount of time trying to earn a final achievement?

Sean Mason

Greetings Dukes, With the announcement of Crash Team Rumble getting a June 20th release I can't help but think Activision does not expect this game to do well. It is sure to get buried releasing within a few weeks of both Diablo and Final Fantasy, not to mention a $29.99 price tag for a game that looks much more like a free to play game. I need to know, why is Activision doing our favorite Bandicoot wrong?! Can't wait to see both of you at PAX East! Best, Sean M.

Hello there duks, phill has done it again, going public saying whatever is convenient for him at the moment, with statements like 10 years is more them enough time to make a COD competitor, which is laughable. Wouldn’t Xbox own position before they started to buy publisher left and right prove that this statement is wrong, if my memory is right they are know as shooter console and still their own shooters are no where near of what COD is. Also what are your thoughts on phill ( on ILP terms ) snitching on everyone’s number when ask about details on all those 10 years deals. Have “ jim welcome phill to the snitching club “ type of day.

Hello Dukes! I only have one comment for the both of you. IT'S MORBIN' TIME. Even though Midnight Suns didn't meet sales expectations, I'm glad it's still getting continued support, and I plan on returning to it soon. But what a weird addition to the cast! Hope you both have a- "I feel these jeans are starting to rip in a bad place, but I'm just gonna chance it..." - kind of day.

Hey Lootbox Matty and Microtransaction Cog....well the first game from Alpha Dog (Mighty Doom) is out and seems like a fine enough mobile game. I personally love all the remixed tracks from Mick Gordon's original writing. That being said, you can't log into your Xbox account and there's no achievements. What gives!? Do you guys think future mobile games should have full Xbox connectivity, especially if they are developed by a first party studio?

Alex

Hey Dukes, Been loving xCloud as I travel, civ 6 is taking over my life right now. What are your favorite games to play on the cloud right now? Also, when's the NYC live show?!?

Captain Bon Clay

Hey dukes! With the rumors via VGC that Spider-Man 2 is aiming for a September release date, how do you think this would effect starfield’s performance? Just last year we saw elden ring overshadow horizon forbidden west and with Spider-Man’s incredible popularity today can you see that happening again with starfield?

Austin Lipka

Greetings esteemed legends of the video game media realm. I have long been an admirer of your contributions to the industry, and I am compelled to inquire if you have ever contemplated the extent of your influence over not only a vast audience but also the future of the Xbox community. Despite your modesty, it is undeniable that you possess a significant impact on a fan base that relies on your insights. I am curious to ascertain whether my assumptions are flawed and if this matter fails to enter your contemplations.

Hey Dukes, I have a Game Pass pick for the week: Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2. These games are getting delisted soon, and their servers will be shut down. Both have solid campaigns, which is rare for the franchise, but the real meat was in the multiplayer. With EA failing to deliver a great entry after Battlefield 1, any FPS fans who weren't around for the Xbox 360 should at least check out Bad Company 2's multiplayer. Bad Company 2 shined during an era where both Halo and Call of Duty were at their peaks. The long time to kill and the narrow map design were perfectly tailored for the Rush game mode to effectively create a tug-of-war frontline. The game's destruction is still impressive today. With explosives, you could destroy most walls, create foxholes on the ground and collapse entire buildings. Also, Bad Company 2's sound design was incredible, especially when you set the audio to "war tapes." These games deserve a remake and a third entry.

Dukes, Last week during the "What we are we playing" section Matty mentioned playing Octapath Traveler . However he did not mention Destiny at all. Matty have you given up on our beloved Destiny? Cog please help return our fellow guardian to the light.

Mike Po

Good day Dukes, Recently Ubisoft publicly referenced an AI tool that is meant to help generate "pass by" NPC dialog for games. Outside of the gaming realm, AI generative text programs like ChatGPT 4 have been shown to be capable of astonishing things. We're heading into a weird new Era. How do the Dukes feel about the use of AI in game development? Should we embrace this profound new tool and see what it can do for devs? Or should we be skeptics and insist on keeping that human touch wherever possible? Keep up the good work, and for once, have a pleasant day!

Bogey Zero

Hey Matty and Cog, first time writing in. Can you guys bring some awareness to the issues concerning RE4 and it’s controller issues? The dead zones and acceleration curves are completely fucked when playing with an Xbox controller, according to Digital Foundry this issue is apparent whether you play on Xbox or PC. And it was immediately apparent when firing up the chainsaw demo on Series X, the aiming felt completely off. Compare that to the demo on PS5 and it feels completely fine over there. Apparently even with the day one patch the issue is still there. I find it completely unacceptable that they haven’t put out any type of statement concerning this. This is the same team that told everyone they’ll fix the rain effects when people bitched about that. But not one word about the controls? If this issues persist on day of release, I’m gonna be skipping this one. Just thought I’d share with you guys in hopes that it’ll be talked about more, and maybe light a fire up Capcom’s ass.

Hey Dukes, Quick question that I’ve been thinking myself lately. If you could refund all your digital game purchases spread across all platforms for 50% of its value, would you? 25%? Love the work y’all do every week!

J Boogie327

Greetings Dukes, Safe travels and god speed to Congito and ILP. I hope you guys enjoy the time together other there. Question for the Dukes of RPGs, How do we feel about farming in games? I was looking at some Borderlands content and never realized how prevalent it was amongst the community. Matty I know you started out doing BL content, what is your take and is it right to play this way; is your game doing anything that can exploit a mechanic like this? I like to hear from Cognito as well, does it happen in Destiny or Naraka? And finally, should players be shamed for fighting a boss repeatedly just for a legendary drop??? If you dont shame them, I will. Anyway, Stay Sharp Dukes, have fun and remember farming for money is the only time its ok... # nofarmDD

Hello dukes, This is not an Xbox question but, you’re both men of great upstanding bathroom habits. As a mechanic I have become a believer in washing my hands before going to the bathroom and after, also doing this in public after working on vehicles for so long you understand how dirty some people live there livesI don’t want that nastiness near my junk, what do your guys think on this? And have a what’s the smell coming from your car kind of day!

Hey Dukes, Last week you discussed the news that Diablo IV wasn't currently planned for day 1 Game Pass. I've heard other podcasts discuss it also and seen people surprised in Discord. I don't think this should be a surprise at all, as I'm pretty sure this is the type of thing that would give the FTC precedented means for blocking the deal. The two companies can't be seen to be acting as if they are already one, and putting a big game day 1 on Game Pass might appear that way unless they had solid proof this was in place before the acquisition was announced. Anyways, I'd be really surprised to see anything come Day 1 from ABK until after the acquisition is over, successful or not. I'd be curious to hear Hoeg's thoughts on that, I hope he's doing well. Keep up the great work guys! Rob

Howdy Dukes! According to a post on IGN, a voice actor in spiderman is saying that it's coming out in September. Colin mention in Sacred Symbols that September would be his best guess as well because that's when our Starfield would be coming. How do you gentlemen feel about this? Stay frosty out there! Grant
