Frozen | KnockBack, Episode 257

Let it go?! No. Embrace it! Frozen turns 10 this year, and in ode, Dagan thought it'd be a good idea to give the film the KnockBack treatment. And so we did just that. The tale of sisters Elsa and Anna is surprisingly emotional, and the film itself is chock-full of a small-but-solid cast of surrounding characters. Over the last decade, Frozen has turned into a phenomenon, and -- for little girls, especially -- it remains an iconographic piece of fiction. The ultimate question we want to get to here on KnockBack is: Does it deserve all of the accolades? You'd have to be icy to think not.

Anna should have ended up with Hans. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Frozen, the story of how child abuse is bad, m’kay. The parents deserved the fate they met is my hot take 🤣🤣🤣. I’m really hoping this is mentioned, lol.

Not gonna lie, this is wild to see on here haha. Was very much just a sports/video games guy in high school. Senior year, my mom and sis went to see this new Disney movie I had seen some buzz about on Twitter so I tagged along. Bizarrely it really resonated with me, got me back into drawing (which I was so into when I was younger but had abandoned), and set me on a wild path (re)discovering all of the best Disney animation and I really fell in love with those 2D Renaissance films, just a magical art. I went to college for CS but started taking animation classes and have kept drawing ever since. I've taken a step away from CS around covid and have been trying to make the art dream work and it's been tough but really fulfilling and I owe the resurgence of art in my life to frickin' Frozen and Idina Menzel. It's not the best Disney movie but I think it captured that Walt and Renaissance magic better than anything since the 90s (& I love Tangled) and it'll always be my personal favorite. Amazing musical score, great color palette, beautiful characters, and a cool ending which feels truly-Disney yet also parodies Disney at the same time and yea idk, maybe a weird pick for knockback but a huge W for me and it's great to hear your thoughts on it haha

I'm listening now, so you guys might cover this, but a weird thing about this movie is that I'm pretty sure it was in theaters for so long that it was on sale on DVD while it was still in the theaters. I worked at a local theater while this was out and it no joke stayed on like at least one screen for so many months.
