Savage Guardin' | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 218

Sony's procurement of its first-ever mobile studio isn't something to get excited about, and we're not even gonna pretend to try. However, the acquisition of Savage Game Studios does suggest a new strategy for PlayStation, one that seeks to protect its various flanks even if it's not yet necessarily begun to fight on said front. Mobile gaming is a good example: They've said they've wanted to do something, and they have, but they don't acknowledge or pay attention to anything that results. It's as if it's not very important, but clearly, that's all about to change. We discuss. Plus: Sony acquires 14% of FromSoftware, SNK says there's interest in both sides for a Capcom vs. SNK revival, Quantic Dream gets scooped up by a Chinese firm, Mafia IV is early in development, and more news, followed (as always) by listener inquiries. Should we embrace the term "I" and "Triple I" when it comes to indies? Is there such a thing as "too much accessibility" when it comes to gaming? Why are console-exclusive pre-order bonuses so darn persistent? Is Colin fearful of Dustin's growing podcasting power Check out our merch! LastStandMedia.store Follow the hosts on Twitter! McDonalds calls their Chicken Big Mac a "chicken burger" in Europe. But still retain the nomenclature of 'Chicken Sandwich' for the original McChicken. A little food for thought pardon the pun.

1:25:23 Yup Colin! Same nonsense with the billions the US /UK give Israel when our own are struggling! p.s. yes in the UK we call Chicken Fillets in burger buns a Chicken Burger :)

Yeah I see where Colin is coming from with the price of the games should not matter and I agree with him on it. But this has been affecting the game Industry for along time. With game pass for instance you look at the metacritic scores for games on game pass that are sold on PSN. You will see the game pass score is usually gets a better score souly because it was on game pass. I understand that it's like a tester for the games but it's basically the same thing on the other side of the spectrum. I mean Cog has even said this with like he likes walking simulators but he was not going to spend money on Death Stranding. But now that Death Stranding is going to go on PC game pass he will give it a try. Price does sway people and believe me I love a good deal. But if a game is good its good no mater how much it it is. I have played game ls that were not a high priced games like Stray I played it via the new PS service. But I also spent 50 bucks on the special edition. Totally understand where you are coming from. Thanks for all you guys do love the podcast and the community.

Now to talk about Deathloop which is basically a clone of Mooncrash dlc from Prey. Which is made by the same studio. Now it is not known to A lot of people that the founder of Arkane studios Raf left the company and started another studio on his own after Prey. Dishonored and Prey were such good games because of the way Raf approaches the games. Deathloop might be a good game but it took A lot I mean alot from Mooncrash DLC. Even Mr. Matty has made a video on this topic also stating that Prey Mooncrash is better then Deathloop. I am also a big fan of the Youtube channel NoClip they have a documentary of Arkane and what the studio had to deal with from Bethesda while making the game Prey. It kinda makes you wonder why the found of Arkane left to start his own studio called Wolf Eye Studios. It seem like Arkane after Raf left has had a little less of that Arkane magic and approach that it had with the past games. Deathloop did have A lot of the people that worked on Prey work on it as well. But it seems like they did not have anything in the chamber for there next game and said let's reskin the Mooncrash and change the story a little and make a new game. Once agian the channel is great and love all that you guys do.

Regarding accessibility options. I love the ones that allow you to hold a button down during a QTE, rather than having you mash a button like you're playing track and field. I think Spiderman and RDR2 had these options and I really appreciated them. I'm not disabled I just don't like track and field 😂

Holy shit that segue into the Better Help ad.

Another day, another episode, and Chris remains on the run in another hideout location.

I think all the accessibility options in games are fine however they should disable trophies. In Uncharted 4 you can get the crushing trophy while having every possible cheat active which I disagree with.

Nothing funnier than a conversation about piss shit and cum and getting a ad about better help. The shift in mood was comedic gold to me… and yeah I pay here and still watch on YouTube cause it’s easier to listen to over many sessions. Great work.

Of course the exclusive content matters. I buy all my third party on xbox and only exclusives on Playstation. But now that hogwarts legacy has a exclusive on Playstation why wouldn't I buy it there? Definitely impacted my sale.
