It's mailbag time! I (Colin) selected 27 inquiries from a recent thread on a variety of games-related topics, from defending myself on Xbox podcasts and the siren call of Metroidvanias to my perceived lack of respect for Team Asobi and Naughty Dog's seemingly-falling star within the first party family. Other subjects covered include '90s JRPGs, PlayStation's PC releases, Gravity Rush, the ergonomics of DualSense, retro gaming on CRTs, the potential return of Resistance, Horizon 3's predicted release date, and much more. Enjoy!

Don’t forget about God of War. Hoping for spoiler cast for sure on that one

Have to imagine you’re “always welcome” on ILP, and would love to see you on again. Jaffe and other guests make the show even more of a blast. Also, salute for your Israel and “Gaza” comment 🇮🇱 . Imagining that wasn’t necessarily intentional 😉, but always here for spreading the pro-Israel narrative in an industry that staunchly has their head up their ass on the topic.

For returnal. The new tower starts out very easy and i found it was very easy to come back to after a few months away. So don't let that hold you back

I figure other podcasters hang on your words because they don’t have the credibility you do. They’re just random people talking into a mic but you have contacts and insider knowledge. I also think it’s your reach. You can say something and it’ll get passed around, meanwhile Michael Pachter literally leaked GTA V news way before the Jason S article and very few noticed.

The DualSense has led me to playing less PS5 because it hurts my thumbs. I also regularly choose to play the PS4 version of games over the PS5 so I can use the DualShock 4 instead, or play on PC with a DS4. I wish they’d just allow its use on PS5 games but I would even be fine buying a “DualShock 5” that’s the same as DS4.

Colin - if you want a good Metroidvania, I'd recommend FIST. I'm not sure if you've ever played it but it was great!

LastStandMedia

I doubt they'd do that, but I wonder if there's money to be made. I also wonder if the new modular controller that they haven't announced yet will be better for you.

F.I.S.T. was very good. Not top tier, but I loved it. Also, the developer's parent company is Shanghai Hode Information Technology. Those Chinese sure love their acronyms...

Excellent episode, Colin!

Ben!

I’ll personally never give up physical media until there’s no other option. This is for several reasons but the big one right now is GameFly. It sounds like an ad, but I saved literally over $1000 last year with GameFly. For approximately $250 I played: Mario 3d World+Bowser's Fury, Hitman 3, Black Ops Cold War, 13 Sentinels, New Pokemon Snap, Captain Toad, Sackboy a Big Adventure, Rift Apart, Mario Tennis Aces, The Pathless, Hyrule Warriors, Miles Morales, Splatoon 2, Little Nightmares 2, Scarlet Nexus, Story of Seasons, Deathloop, Warioware: Get it Together, Metroid Dread, Sonic Colors Ultimate, House of Ashes, Guardians of the Galaxy, COD Vanguard, and Pokemon Diamond. People rave about Game Pass but really, I save so much more through GameFly. Anyway, it's a crazy value and you’ll have to pry that disc drive out of my cold, dead hands.

LastStandMedia

For you, the value is experiential. What's interesting, though, is that you don't own anything you played. So it's a lot like GamePass, but more antiquated.

I want Sony to release games on PC whenever they need to. I like being part of a community. I feel a camaraderie with the PlayStation community when I know we are all playing a big first party game at the same time. That said, I want Sony to make money and translate that in to more products that I love. If it takes PC releases to make that happen then I’m down.

You could probably buy all that for 250 from gamefly too. Their pre owned always looks brand new and sometimes they really are the cheapest physial prices out there
