It's a relatively slow week in the world of PlayStation, but there are still matters to discuss. Yes: We're all curious about when God of War: Ragnarok's release date will be revealed, and we have some things to say about this strange new line of Sony electronics under the INZONE brand. But really, we'd rather get into the weeds with smaller stories and lots of listener inquiries. Topics range from Horizon's TV debut and the potential of Persona live-action media to the return of Star Ocean and Final Fantasy XVI's British-style English. Speaking of Final Fantasy XVI, we also get into just what's happening with Square Enix and its relationship with PlayStation. Is Sony courting the publisher, particularly with so much money heaped at it for timed exclusivity and marketing? Plus: Do we care about speedruns? Are live service games ruining our gaming cadences? Should Sony have allowed its studios to speak out on Roe vs. Wade? All of that and more on the other side of the play button.

For the audio crew. This could be my ears, or even my phone, but it seems like the audio is mixed a little too strong on the high end. "S's" are really strong and there is almost a whine coming out. I definitely could be off, then please ignore. I love your guy's work, just thought I would say something in case I wasn't alone.

I can relate to the guy talking about live service games. I don’t play live service but I have games I call “podcast games” like returnals tower or just hunting machines in HFW for weapon upgrades. I can do those things without having to listen to the game cause I’m not missing anything. But when I’m playing FF7 remake I have to pay full attention. As someone with a 6month old baby the former is often more convenient

As a Brazilian gamer. Colin, I believe the information you have about a strong Sega presence here is correct, but at least at the region I live (south of the country, Paraná, near the borders with Paraguay, a reference for much lower taxed eletronics), Nintendo is much stronger, I had most consoles starting from Atari, mega drive, master system, Nes, Snes, N64, and since cartiges were very expensive, my father had my brothers and I, exchange our games for new ones or rent them. But even today I see a much stronger Nintendo presence here, Mario is everywhere, I see a lot of clothes licensed and not. McDonalds had a Mario and Pokemon toys, also the portables are common here, most of them using pirated games as it became easier to unlock the console and download the iso. ...Also The Legend of Zelda is huge, since Ocarina of time, not as big as Mario, but vastly known as well.

Hey Dustin! That black stuff in your beloved vanilla ice cream, is in fact, bits of vanilla bean! 🫡

He Colin, first time listening I ve been a bit disappointed with your response, the guy said simply that missing out on games that you'd enjoy (probably) playing because they don't have an arbitrary checkbox or the checkbox is not acceptable is not the best way to go about it when you play a game. I am not saying you're wrong just that completely dismissing the guy while he was quite friendly and kind. Also when people tell you that you should play this or that they do it be cause they (we?) would love to hear your opinion on said game and to see you enjoying something they enjoy. I would love for you to try strangers of paradise, that game is a lot of fun and to hear what you'd say in the show. But anyway you do you man, just no need to think anyone wants to control what you like.

The English language can be weirdly inconsistent at times, think about the words 'pen' and 'penis', both have the string of characters 'p-e-n', but the pronunciation is different, the 'p-e-n' in 'penis' is pronounced 'peen'. Same for words like 'silicon' and 'bacon', the con sounds like 'ken', but other words with 'con' such as 'recon' and 'icon', the con sounds like 'kon'.

Great episode (as always!). I did find it funny though; this week the line is "let's not worry about how and what people play", whereas next week it will be something along the lines of, people who play xbox or gamepass are dolts.

Legendary thumbnail work as usual, Dustin

You'd be stressed by it if you had people constantly telling you to play things you explicitly say you don't like or don't want to play. It's a lot.

Fotis Lyto

Actually, I understand, I believe having so many people constantly pushing these things to me would be very annoying. Also I didn't want to sound mean, you do you man, be well.

I'm excited about the Sony branded monitors & headsets. I've been thinking of upgrading my current PC Monitor. I'm hoping for the M7 being a 27" 1440 Monitor at 144Hz with that FALD. My current monitor is edge lit & the dark scenes suffer really bad with only 4 zones of lighting. What most excites me is that Sony TVs are the best in the business for watching content. I'm hoping the focus on games with a monitor will bring similar results for monitors.

So what we’ve learned in this episode is that some local people pronounce local terms and towns incorrectly. Then they chide others for pronouncing it correctly. Although calling you out first was wholly unnecessary. Not casting stones. I am from Indiana and we go as far as to call these “Hoosierisms”, admitting that we pronounce many words incorrectly. So keep fucking that grammar chicken and pernounce them werds hi-ever you’ns wount.
