A Crisis Reborn | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 207

This is a week tailor-made for Final Fantasy fans, particularly on the back of Final Fantasy XVI's re-reveal. That's because... well... wait! There's more! During a brief live stream celebrating Final Fantasy VII's 25th anniversary, publisher-slash-developer Square Enix made two big announcements: The 2007 PSP Final Fantasy VII prequel Crisis Core is coming to PS4 and PS5, and the second part of the now-confirmed-three part Final Fantasy VII Remake launches the following winter, only on PlayStation 5. Thus, we have much to digest in the land of role-playing. This jam-packed episode has much more to work over, too, including the leak of an in-production, high-end Elite-style controller for PS5, the long-in-coming confirmation of Dragon's Dogma 2, reliable information concerning God of War: Ragnarok's release month, the arrival of Persona 3 and 4 on PS4, and so on and so forth. Then: Listener inquiries. What game dev jobs would Chris and Dustin want to undertake? Is the audience being too hard on The Last of Us: Part I? Could the incoming economic recession have a negative effect on the games industry? Will Dustin bend the knee and finally kiss Jim Ryan's ring? Follow the hosts on Twitter! I keep nominating the Wizard for Knockback but alas it never goes through. I would love a deep dive into such a campy cult videogame movie from you and Dagan.

I'm also looking forward to Starfield but I can't help but notice every time any criticism of it gets brought up we chalk it up to "well its Bethesda" Is it weird to expect more than just Fallout 4 in space?

Such an excellent rundown from Chris starting at 2:43:26. Totally agree with this outlook. Personally I'm alright if Ragnarok feels similar to the first game. The early battle against Baldur was absolutely jaw-dropping, and by the time I rolled credits I felt a little let down that there weren't a few more moments like that. Even if the sequel feels familiar overall, I'll be wholly satisfied so long as I get more juicy cinematic brawls! Maybe sprinkle in some unexpected new realms.

Oh Colin please find time to play Greedfall. It is a very much different game artistically and with the period its set in. One of my fav rpgs in years. Underrated gem imo that I hope gets a sequel.

Bummed I missed the hot take episode. I was going to drop the take that the Castlevania show isn't that good, lol. But I love that you guys love it!

Correction: While I can’t say for sure, more than likely the persona games are not getting series x/s versions. You can market your game as an xbox series game on xbox even if it’s just xbox one code. As an example Nier Replicants disc on xbox says series X but it’s just an xbox one version and nothing else. I’m strictly talking about 3 and 4, since 5 is getting a ps5 version that one will probably be native.

The vocal minority who complain that the podcast is too long have the option to turn it off. By removing sections, I don't have the option to carry on listening. I know you can't please everyone but I enjoy the length of the show, just like Rogans podcast. You get more interesting conversations, even if it's just mentioning a unknown game. I guess you have a better view on preferences though and I could be the only one who likes the longer episodes.

CDC, I realize you guys dont really play or know much about Minecraft but I have to educate you guys a slight bit. Much as you pointed out the GTAV updates I have to mention for years now the core Minecraft game has major content updates every year with smaller content drops sprinkled in every few months. They also have custom map packs with well know brands but I wont get into all that crap here. People really want the current gen console update mainly for ray tracing. The new consoles support the feature and its already implemented in the windows version for at least a year now.

Can't believe Colin said ff8 or ffx are the worst ff games when x-2, xiii trilogy exist. Give your head a wobble Moriarty. FF8 has a good story, some of, if not the best music in the franchise (Uematsus personal favourite too), Triple Triad, lots of secret quests etc.
