Scarce Silicon | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 202

Sony's annual financial report brings with it good news for the brand. PlayStation, as usual, is the most important vertical in its corporate family in Japan, pulling in the most revenue and raking in the highest profit (even more than Sony Pictures, currently in a renaissance of its own). Yet, with PlayStation 5 doing well, Sony has a serious issue: It still can't manufacture enough PS5s to satiate demand. Not even close, in fact. Such a situation isn't only allowing its competitor to catch up; it's also creating doubt regarding if they can even fix the problem at all. Yet, they're hoping to right the ship over the next year, where they essentially intend to double their sales. Will they succeed? Only time will tell. Elsewhere in the industry, Electronic Arts has pulled the plug on its 30-year FIFA franchise, opting -- as rumors indicated -- to go it alone. But FIFA is ready to fight back, and with eFootball in the mix, too, things should get quite interesting in the soccer space in the years to come. Plus: Elden Ring sells huge, Gotham Knights is cancelled on PS4, Outriders was a financial dud, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Should cloud saving be free? When should Sony have a games showcase? What ever happened to Army of Two? Will Colin sell Last Stand Media to the communists? Follow the hosts on Twitter! Just as a heads up, this and episode 201 are in the wrong category on patreon so won't be able to find them using the hyperlinks!

My wife has almost fallen into the toilet because I left the seat up. She says overall, I do pretty good at putting it back down, but I still don't know how that was possible.

Just as a recommendation for Chris and allergies. Tring eating local Honey as it would have the pollen from around the area and would help your tolerance.

Andrew Gambill

Big WWE fan. The RPG is interesting, there's been a rpg like mode as part of all the 2K games.

Slightly Off-Topic but, on Chris' point about taking a single player game and trying to turn it into a multiplayer game, that's exactly how I felt in reverse about Halo's infinite campaign, super repetitive outdoor sequences that feel like a multiplayer match against NPCs and enemies. Hell, even to launch the campaign you have to go through that horrific countdown.

I thoroughly enjoyed Outriders and hope they push through and we get an Outriders 2.

The fact that they don't let you backup PS5 saves to USB individually means they should have some option for cloud backups. Even if it's not the full ~110 or so gigabytes that paid users get. What's more unbelievable is when I go in and tell PS5 to sync more games, it says "You've reached the limit for the number of saved data items that can be synced at one time. Try syncing again." It usually works if I select try again, but that this would be an error rather than something it simply gives it a few seconds and tries again on its own is silly.

What a great thumbnail. The church of Sacred Symbols with Reverend Colin Moriarty Osteen. "Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love." PROVERBS 5:19.....
