Tom Holland as Nathan Drake? On paper, it's a tough sell. But, having seen the Uncharted film in all its big-screen glory, we were left surprised. Why? Because Holland's Drake is a lot better than we thought it'd be. Indeed, the entire film is. Not everything is well done -- are they kidding with Mark Wahlberg's rendition of Sully? -- but Ruben Fleischer's somewhat controversial interpretation of one of PlayStation's biggest games has turned into a commercial hit, with fan opinion diverging heavily from the critical consensus. The results are clear: The film is in the black, it'll certainly receive a sequel, and thus we'll be seeing more of this Drake and Victor. In the meantime, though, let's delve into the nearly-two hour film, get into what we loved, liked, disliked, and hated, and give credit where credit is due to PlayStation Productions' first success story... the first of what will likely be more to come.

You got a liter of cola at a movie theatre? Are you sure you’re not a Rhode Island State Trooper?

I legit had a great time with this movie, and honestly like all the characters. Looking forward to the a potentially more gritty sequel if they go the Uncharted 2 route.

Will Hahn

Glad to hear you and Dustin liked it! Haha I knew you guys would.

COL! Jon Hamm was my call exactly! Said it as soon as I walked out. Might be my man crush coming to the fore, lol.

One thing to point out to Dustin is she didn’t stage a coup or get everyone to follow her after she killed him. They were always her guys. He hired her and her men. So they were like heck yes we get it all ourselves now. Great discussion guys. I liked the movie.

Gotta say I was really surprised about the indifferent reaction to the (lack of) violence. I don’t crave a high body count in my movies but these are games where killing people is like, the game. So it’s absence is honestly a little awkward and distracting. Came off as the Disney afternoon special version of Uncharted. Enjoyed as usual boys!

The one true choice for Sully was David Harbour

Can you guys watch the fan made Nathan Fillon version please?!

I didn’t get the vibe that they hooked up. I read that scene as they looked for clues until Chloe gave up and went to bed, Nate figured it out, set the trap, and then went to bed himself, Chloe woke up and stole the plans. Maybe that’s my innocent mind at this moment but I feel like if they’re bringing in Elena, they would’ve at least shown us a kiss or something. Maybe they’ll retroactively add it in in the sequel. The Papa John’s bit was spoiled for me, and while it was dumb, Mark’s delivery of that line was hilarious. A lot of the writing in this at times felt dumb but they made it work. Looking forward to seeing Mr. Whiskers fight some nazis in the sequel.
