Uncharted Movie Spoilercast and Review Discussion | Sacred Symbols+ Episode 169

Tom Holland as Nathan Drake? On paper, it's a tough sell. But, having seen the Uncharted film in all its big-screen glory, we were left surprised. Why? Because Holland's Drake is a lot better than we thought it'd be. Indeed, the entire film is. Not everything is well done -- are they kidding with Mark Wahlberg's rendition of Sully? -- but Ruben Fleischer's somewhat controversial interpretation of one of PlayStation's biggest games has turned into a commercial hit, with fan opinion diverging heavily from the critical consensus. The results are clear: The film is in the black, it'll certainly receive a sequel, and thus we'll be seeing more of this Drake and Victor. In the meantime, though, let's delve into the nearly-two hour film, get into what we loved, liked, disliked, and hated, and give credit where credit is due to PlayStation Productions' first success story... the first of what will likely be more to come.

Man, I literally feel the same way as these guys. Liked the movie, has promise. Really missed the mark on certain parts.

I'd like to see more movie related content when it makes sense. Off topic but Colin you've mentioned before that the main superhero you like is Batman are you going to see the new movie? I think you'd love it

The complaints on Sully seem to undermine the fact that he has an actual character arc throughout. It actually developed the relationship between the two characters and I expect we get a Drakes Fortune Sully in the sequel.

Really enjoyed the film, was way better than I expected! Although, I found a disconnect between Drake and Sully. Also, I felt Tom Holland was still in the character of Spiderman at the beginning with some of his lines and how they was delivered. Was over the moon, seeing the Easter eggs. Loved they took parts of the games! Dustin, I also the same feeling as you that no one in the cinema got excited about seeing Nolan North, only I was, whilst explaining he's the real Nathan Drake to my fiancee.

I generally really enjoyed the movie. The only thing that really made me shake my head was the boat scene at the end. But other than that. Pretty good movie

I suppose. We met Sully exactly as I describe, so why would the movie take a different tact?

Just saw Uncharted today after listening to this podcast this weekend. The movie really was way better than it had any right to be. It's a solidly decent film and I had been expecting a burning bag of dog crap.. Wahlberg as Sully was the only character that didn't work for me; but I'm actually looking forward to the sequel.

I thought the movie was decent. Its just Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg were the wrong casting lol

I want Nolan North in every movie and him say the same line every time "something like that happened to me once" just for Tom to look confused and walk on. Would be hilarious, kinda similar to the plumber in the ratchet and clank games.
