Rushmore | KnockBack: The Retro and Nostalgia Podcast Episode 208

Wes Anderson's filmography is pocked with remarkable films, and 1998's Rushmore is undoubtedly one of them. Starring Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, Rushmore is -- in our estimation -- a movie all about dealing with pain: The pain of growing up, the pain of loss, the pain of emptiness. But, in traditional Anderson form, Rushmore's melancholy is accompanied by copious wit and humor that balances everything out, delivering something perhaps far greater than the sum of its individual parts. So take dead aim at the rich boys, friends. But not before you listen. A new episode of KnockBack launches each Monday morning. I feel like Everytime I watch Rushmore, I find something new. This was the film that introduced me to Wes Anderson and his work, which I love so much.

Exactly this. The only difference is that I hated Rushmore the first time I saw it. It wasn't until months later when it was on TV that I started picking up on all the little details which make Wes movies so special.

Ooo excited for this one, one of my favorite movies. "These are OR scrubs." "oh are they?" :P

I can't think of Rushmore without thinking of Brand New's song "Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades"

Dagan is right about my school. Lamar is actually a really good school (one of the best in the district) so they definitely had to make it look way worse than it actually is. In fact, around the time the movie was made, the school had just gotten a brand new wing completed, so they had their work cut out for them!

BlindRiot

This movie is hilarious, good choice boys.

It's funny the pandemic hasn't changed my life very much but for the opposite reason because my job never closed and we only made people wear masks for a few months and my family and friends aren't idiots so most of them took precautions and got vaccinatiated so no one died
