Talking Gran Turismo With Z28Gaming | Sacred Symbols+ Episode 159

One thing's for certain: Gran Turismo 7 will be one of PS4's and PS5's most-important exclusive releases of 2022. For PlayStation 5 in particular, GT7 may become one of its most important games, full-stop. After all, this is a 25-year-old franchise that sells many millions of copies with each iteration, and that's why we think it's vital to give it more breathing room on Sacred Symbols+. To help us explore Gran Turismo 7's many possibilities, the staying power of Gran Turismo Sport, the expensive world of racing peripherals, and the crowded field of quality GT competitors, I (Colin!) have invited talented Gran Turismo YouTuber Z28Gaming to the show. Put on your seatbelts, kids. We have digital racing simulations to discuss. Check out @Z28Gaming!

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time! Thanks Colin for recognizing your weakness and yet trying to satisfy this niche!

Love this! My father-in-law used to run and compete in a racing league on GT6. I would chat to him for hours about it all, it's a fascinating community. Thanks for shining a light on it!

Chris Nelson

As someone with zero racing game experience outside of Need For Speed Underground, this was a fascinating listen and I loved learning more about the culture behind the racing community and its relationship with the actual car enthusiast community. Obviously Colin could get a good interview out of anyone, but Z28Gaming was a phenomenal guest I’d love to see again on the Sacred Symbols+ feed!

Great episode for sure!!

Aswad Charles

This was excellent and so interesting. It has me now intrigued to look into GT7.

Nice. This was great,Thanks for more GT content! My dream would be if you could get the YouTube guy named supergt on ! He does a ton of gt sport racing and really good insight. I think something that GT fans like me are extremely excited for is the return of tuning and modify parts in GT7,that was sorely missed in gt sport. As well as things like the used car dealerships! The nostalgia is real. Hopefully a return to gt2/gt4 feelings. Gt7 will combine the sports mode racing things with the old school jdm car tuning scene that gt1 and 2 helped create. If they get it right it will be epic. Thanks again!

Great episode Colin. I hope you continue to have episodes like this with people who are more into a specific genre/topic that you, Dustin or Chris might not know as much about. Hope to see a fighting game episode one day.

RenegerGraeme

good episode. Jay seems like a cool guy, hope to see more of him in the future

This is NOICE. GT gettin' the phat daddy Sacred Symbols treatment. I'm torn between being excited to play this game on PS4 and sad that I'm holding it back.

Man Z28 has a great podcasting presence. This is the first time i’ve heard of him, but i’ll definitely check out his channel because of this interview. This definitely got me excited for your guys’ GT7 breakdown in a couple months.

His passion definitely makes me want to give GT7 a shot.

This was an excellent episode, great insight into a whole sect of gaming that kind of goes unnoticed by mainstream gamers

As a racing genre fan, this was a great episode. Thank you for taking the time to get people in to cover parts of the industry you don't really follow. It's greatly appreciated.

As someone who isn't big into racing games or anything like that, this was really interesting. A testimony to the quality of Sacred Symbols and his passion!

Great idea to give GT7 the spotlight for this episode. I’ve never played one but am thinking about it.

Good timing https://blog.playstation.com/2022/01/31/359997/

Very very good! As a sim racing fan I appreciate you trying to involve that genre into the LSM content more and more. Loving it. Thank you all. :)

Matthew Remus

Great video, and actually got me excited to give GT7 a try. I would be interested to hear his take on the VR aspect of racing games if you have him back.

Michael Miller

Love the GT7 coverage! Quick correction: Polyphony’s cart racing game DID come out in the states. It’s called Motor Toon Grand Prix and it’s actually pretty good.

Hugo Stiglitz

Awesome choice for a guest!! Z28 is one of the best gran turismo youtubers I know of and he's also an excellent racer. One of the most skilled youtubers other than the actual pro players The only guests that could be better is Jordan Greer (creator of the biggest Gran turismo website GTplanet) or the man himself Kaz Yamauchi (plus Mr Translator San of course)

Loved it. Can we get someone who knows and is able to talk about single player and what this games hopes are in bringing that back? I feel most of this coverage has been on the online community and more of a history. Rather then what those coming from GT6 are hoping to see stuff that was sorely missed in GTSPORT.

That’s fine it can be about what has changed. It’s just an idea no pressure. Enjoyed both hosts you’ve had on and look forward to your opinions on the state of play and or the game when it comes out. Idk why desktop doesn’t tell me you replied, good thing mobile does… sigh.

Charlie

Enjoyed this! Looking forward to hearing more after the release 👍 Would also be interested to hear the thoughts/impressions from yourselves as well, considering you’re kind of newbies to GT as it’s not your sort of thing. Sony mentioned in the state of play about making it accessible to newcomers too

Colin mentioned in the episode, that "people don't play Street Fighter, then go to the UFC" but essentially, Gran Turismo translate to real word driving. That's absolutely true, and resonates with me because my entire fandom of all things cars, started with Gran Turismo 3. I played Pole Position on the NES, I played Top Gear on SNES, and Virtua Racing on Sega platforms, but that laid the foundation for me to experience real racing in GT3 A-Spec on PS2. That's laid the foundation for my Need for Speed/Fast and Furious fandom as well. I just love cars, and enjoy them, research them, and read about em, ALL because of Gran Turismo. So, cheers to this episode for letting me sit on those thoughts :)

LastStandMedia

It's funny: My old love of Need For Speed never translated to the real world. Indeed, that I know anything at all about cars only comes from those older games on PSone and PS2.
