Does Xbox Miscommunicate Too Often? | Defining Duke Ultimate Episode 38

Xbox has upped its transparency since the beginning of the Series Generation. From there, we have seen multiple faux pas from them failing to set or even meet expectations. What this has led to is the removal of magic from announced showcases, baffling decisions, and at times very angry fans. With the recent Fable debacle in the rear view mirror, let's look at some standout moments in Xbox's very recent history and see if they are communicating well with fans.

Hi guys! Great work as usual, just small correction about Sony changing their DRM policy before E3 2013: https://www.polygon.com/2013/6/11/4417810/playstation-4s-price-and-drm-policies-not-an-answer-to-xbox-one-sony

I appreciate the topic of this episode but I do feel as though some of the issues threw me off. I agree that they did not stop the chatter around the Initiative but the only video the Initiative has on their channel from years ago is the one that says they're "small and agile". I genuinely feel like y'all are apart of games media too and as much as Microsoft didn't stop the narrative being carried, it was being pedaled by media and influencers who didn't look into the studio when their mission statement was in plain sight. So idk about that one. Then the Gamescom Halo incident, I feel like Aaron Greenberg set expectations saying there would be no big announcements there so why still expect Halo there? I feel like it makes business sense to show your biggest title on the biggest stage. I've never understood the issue with that showcase if it was a show meant for indies and smaller games. Those games matter too and is why the showcase existed. Does everyone only want showcases for big games? Playstation got bashed over that one Indie developer calling them out on Twitter for not providing enough exposure to indies but if a showcase is dedicated to indies it's still bad? Especially when the showcase is dedicated to showing indies coming to Gamepass? I got lost there. I guess I would appreciate some clarity on that. Sorry for the long message I just want to hear your thoughts deeper on this.
