Defining Duke, Episode 37: Nvidia's GeForce Now Leaks Huge Upcoming 2022 Games (Patreon)

In this week's Defining Duke, we are joined by none other than "The Mayor" Ben Smith who serves as Last Stand Media's associate producer. No, nothing happened to Sea Of Thieves! However, it appears there is a leak in a ship at sea known as GeForce Now. It is on this cloud based streaming service that recently we saw the likes of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Injustice 3, a new Lord Of The Rings game, Kingdom Hearts 4, and plenty more leak. Now, Nvidia is attempting to do damage control, but the boys have thoughts on leaks beyond familiar names. Within this are codenames for upcoming Xbox exclusives! In other news, Knights Of The Old Republic is leaving Xbox behind (for a limited time) and you know that Matty just couldn't help himself with this one. Beyond the Marvel and Star Wars discourse is a conversation on important subjects like Cog's grunting, Matty's priority of cigars instead of city keys, and much more.

Quick correction, the spider man 2 trailer was not CG. Like Matty says of starfield, it was also in engine captured off a ps5.

Yes a developer confirmed it and on digital foundry’s showcase breakdown/reaction they confirm and note it using the same ray tracing technique as miles morales.

I think what colin was saying is that xbox does not have games on the level of a God of war or the last of us. There is nothing like those from a quality stand point on xbox. Not that xbox doesnt have good games but they dont have those transcendent game of the generation, make you stop and have a conversation games. For example ghost of tsushima, what game even comes close to the level of impact that had ? Also I gotta say something being day one in gamepass doesnt hit the same way an exclusive does. Becuase at the end of the day I still dont need an xbox to play said game.

Matty, with the leaked "Fight for Middle Earth" you say you are excited for a sequel to "Shadow of War"...but could it be a sequel/spiritual successor to the RTS game "Battle for Middle Earth 2" that came out for PC and Xbox? I hope so.

Lads, I meant more judging Bethesda seperately, I don't count Doom Eternal or Deathloop as microsoft games either but Bethesda was also on a bit of a poor streak after 76, Youngblood,, Rage 2. It was more judging the trajectory of both recently rather than as one entity. Completely agree though Halo is the big litmus test, kinda sucks that it falls on a dev with as spotty a track record as 343. Let us pray. #justone

I agree they don't have bangers as Cog calls them but I think people don't even talk about their good games which is the problem for me. Both Ori games are exceptional games and they are barely discussed. If they came out on PlayStation it would be a completely different story.

Ya'll bold as hell... #DelayHaloDD? I'm looking out for pitchforks right now. On the CGI trailer topic, I hate them too but I'm willing to accept the fact that they're a part of what must be a marketing standard. If I were to guess, I'd say that they're very unpopular among the hardcore gaming crowd, but very effective when it comes to casuals. For me, a trailer with no gameplay seems like a frustrating waste of time and resources. That said, they might sell a game to a much bigger crowd of ppl who don't even think about the missing gameplay, or ppl that would've been turned off by the gameplay anyway. I doubt a trailer full of turn based action and dialogue trees is gonna get casuals going like it would me.

About the cgi trailers… the Spider-Man 2 trailer was also in engine like starfield so can’t really shut on it too much.

If y’all haven’t already, y’all should check out the Borderlands 2 DLC: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. It’s based on Dungeons and Dragons with Tiny Tina as the gamemaster, and it’s one of my all time favorite DLCs in video games. I’m guessing the new Borderlands game is inspired by that DLC.
