As vaguely promised only a month or two ago, PlayStation announced the first of its new burst of mobile games. Which IP are they visiting this time? None other than dormant Liverpool Studio-driven racing franchise Wipeout. The thing is, this Wipeout game isn't what any Wipeout fan is looking for... and that's the honest truth. So what's the point of migrating your products to the world's most ubiquitous platforms if you're not going to do it well and do it right? We discuss. We also jump into recent news surrounding PlayStation Productions live-action TV iteration of Twisted Metal, the sudden destruction of LittleBigPlanet's historic servers, tantalizing drug-fueled rumors surrounding next year's Call of Duty, a slew of leaked games via NVIDIA (though they deny it), new PS4 and PS5 firmware updates, and so on and so forth. We also deal with your listener submissions on topics ranging from Kena: Bridge of Spirits and the potential of Resident Evil 4 Remake being PS5-exclusive to DualSense support on PlayStation 4 and Wolverine's M-rated potential. And yes: We also talk a lot about depression and sadness. This is, after all, Sacred Symbols.

You guys never miss a week, and neither do we!

Regarding God of War Ragnarok, I think it's easy to pick on the boat animation comparison. However, I think that's a straw man. Giving that guy the benefit of the doubt, the broader point that the boat example was meant to encapsulate is that what we have seen of Ragnarok looks like "more God of War 2018". And I think a lot of people want a sequel accomplish more than just giving more of the same I loved the combat of the previous game, but I really wanted to see how they could build on that foundation. From what we have seen SO FAR, it doesn't look like much has been done to expand what we had. It's premature to judge, though. Until we have the game in our hands, who knows what additional layers are hidden in the game. There could be another moment like when we rediscovered the "Blades of Chaos" -- one of my favorite gaming moments of that game

Regarding Deathloop: Chris probably looked at the terminal in the apartment in updaam. A couple messages are traps which one of the visionaries sends you. If you read that message he announce your location on the loudspeaker

LastStandMedia

Well, I don't disagree, but I will say that the jump you seek would have come from making it a PS5 exclusive, with focus on the unique capabilities of the machine only.

It’s so funny how Colin keeps getting frustrated about his previous opinion on smart delivery. The problem was that we saw it as “common sense delivery” but we didn’t expect Sony to lack so much common sense, even now.

If Wolverine is rated M, I will shit my pants. Overall I'm more of a DC guy, but Wolverine has a special place in my nerd heart.

With regard to the Nvidia leak, I audibly expelled air from my nostrils. As someone who plays mostly on PC and only buys consoles so I can have access to exclusives... I feel beclowned for having bought a PS5. 2020 mocks me yet again. Anyways, Thanks again for the content lads! Appreciate you.

I truly don’t understand the haters… it’s a gaming podcast. Whatever it is that ticks people off with you, Colin, it usually has nothing to do with gaming. People complain about giving a platform to you, as if people are in danger (lol), but I’m a fan as someone on the left and even when you guys do talk about politics it’s always totally appropriate and never partisan. It’s a shame that people are so ok with writing people off that they really don’t need to but fuck em then! ;) You guys always do a great job and I’m happy to see that recognized by people or brands that actually matter.

Guysss noooo! A great UI designer does not fill white/dead space! It’s intentional. Poor designers fill space with stuff. Great designers understand use of space. Google for example use white space to keep it simple. Too much over design can look messy and heavy. I love the size of the tiles personally. But yeah; it’s intentional!

Colin about to call Hugh Jackman, ‘Human Jackman’ is hilarious to me for some reason.

I thought Splitgate was fairly mediocre but good for them.

Great episode as always boys, I really love deathloop, there is something about this game and the dishonored games where I can legitimately just explore every map to the utmost detail and enjoy the bits of lore you can find. Besides, the 70s psychedelic/clockwork orange vibe is really fun

Just listening to the bit about smart delivery now. Normally, I agree that smart delivery was the best way to handle these cross-gen situations. However, I have a slight edge case where Sonys approach makes more sense. Battlefield 2042 will only have cross platform support; not cross gen. If you have a PS5 and you want to play with your friends on PS4, you need to have the last gen version available. I like that when this game comes out, I can have both versions available to me so that I can play the PS4 version with my friends or go solo with the PS5 version w/ 128 players and larger maps. Can’t be done with smart delivery I’m afraid since it will automatically default to the next gen variety.

The reality is, people will complain about anything, so at some point you kinda gotta turn it all off.

I am really excited for Kena. For me, it just feels so PlayStation. The art, setting, animation and gameplay invokes a warm sense of familiarity for me dating back to the PS2 days of Jak, Sly and Ratchet. A preview I read described it as a new "mascot adventure" similarly. I am hoping it delivers.

MarkGrouch

Huge congrats for the Apple podcasts promotion! Had a lot of fun posting the Spider-Man 3 gonna cry gif in reply to all these whining Twitter haters lmao

Brandon Soto

HBO Max runs like shit on PS5 with awful loading and having to restart the app most of the time. Holding down the PS button to turn the console off still isn’t added.

Jayce Tamulevich

Hey, I just need to say, I sometimes forget how fucking funny you guys are. I just got back into teaching and it’s been a lot of hard work, but these gut busting laughs help relieve the stress!

Jeremy Craves

I just beat F.I.ST. and it was GREAT! Horrible name makes searching it a problem.

James Pies

I'm surprised Colin is still giving this fanboyism air time. While certainly very annoying, they are a noisy minority of players who don't deserve the content time. Otherwise great show as always!

ur ppnballs

Yo the thumbnail is FIRE yo

Zack Forney

Lmao at Chris dropping that John Mulaney quote with Dean Cain and no one noticing

Josh Lucas

Colin you keep saying Ghost of Tsushima came to PC but it didn’t lol the reason it jumped up in sales is just because of the Director’s Cut on PS5/PS4. There have been a few leaks and things pointing toward an eventual PC release, but it hasn’t been officially announced yet.

Sweeney's Girlfriend Archive

Mirrors Edge is sick but they already upgraded the game on Xbox which is how I'm going to play it again.

TheMuff1nMon

I've put like 10 hours into it (took a break when Tales of Arise came out) and BELIEVE I am nearing the end. Off to the coastal fortress after the FRUSTRATING underground area with those rock enemies. Loved everything in the game but that area.

Colin DEFINITELY looks like Dustin & Chris’ sugar daddy in that thumbnail

LastStandMedia

Doesn't seem like it needs another treatment from me, but EA has been going back to the well.

I know that Dead Island and it's sequel were buggy, but I managed to get the platinum in them, and I had plenty of fun in those janky-ass games. I couldn't platinum, or even finish, Dying Light, though - I was just tired of bugs, disapearing quest items, disapearing weapons, and broken missions. I once wasted hours on trying to find some phone that wasn't where the quest marker was pointing to. It was pointing to something slightly below ground level, so I wasted all that time on running through the city, and trying to find a sewer entrance, that would lead me there. Lo and behold the phone was lying above the ground in plain sight, once I loaded an earlier save - this was when I just gave up. I played it on PS4 long after launch, too, it was some 'complete' edition with all the DLC, so it must've had the final patches. I don't regret buying it, I still had hours of fun, but i hope that DL2's delay means that it's going to be in a better state than Techland's previous games.

I feel like that podcast art could’ve been used in the future as the one for the finale as well. “You got everything under the fucking Sun except for Bloodbourne.” 😂. Poor Dustin. Could GoW exist without Kratos? YES. I think this is actually the plan. Lmao at Chris bringing up the Spider-Man “Justice” of throwing people off of rooftops. Never crossed my mind to ever do that. “He stole a Snapple and now he’s dead.” 😂 Col, you can remap Tales controls. The new GOTG visuals bother me because it lacks originality or style. The TTG version was def based on the movies but they still stood out in their own way. Even the characters in Ultimate Alliance 3 stand out because of the visuals of the game. This upcoming game just has a bad visual look overall. I’m hoping the story makes up for it because the gameplay looks generic as well. Edith Finch is fantastic. 1 of the most pleasant experiences I had last-gen.

Hoder Erroneus Jensen

A SHATTER REMAKE!??!! Holy fuck, totally missed that also. I am so ready for that, loved it and regularly listen to the soundtrack, as it's straight up fantastic.
